Nice barber shop. I have gotten a cut there a handful of times and have been satisfied until this last cut. I usually wait for Danny or Art. But I made the mistake of being impatient and letting the female barber do my cut. Just a simple taper, kept the length on top. She did a decent taper but screwed up the line on the right side of my head pretty bad. Pics are posted. I'm not sure if she notices that she messed up and just didn't say anything, which is extremely unprofessional, or if she is just a lousy barber that thinks she is doing a decent job. Either way I'm stuck with a shitty cut for a few weeks and won't be going back to this shop. The only good barbers left are Danny and the old man, Art doesn't work there anymore. And they're always super busy. It's hard to find a decent barber these days. read more

Went here for the first time today and it was amazing. My son, Chase, is autistic and used to have tantrums whenever we'd go to a barbershop because of the buzzing sensation so we only gave him diy haircuts at home for the past 4 years. Daniel did a great job on my son's hair and he kept him entertained as well! My son didn't get bored, and it was done fast as well. We'll definitely come back. I've come here exactly twice. Both times Paul gave me a shave. The first time, he left a nick on my chin. It happens. The second time, you BUTCHERED my face. BUTCHERED! I have almost a DOZEN scratches on my face. DUDE! And then you effring threw after-shave on me to cover up your inability to keep the razor flat. IF YOU CAN'T SHAVE FER SH*T, THEN DON'T EFFING SHAVE PEOPLE!! And this from a place that advertises and seems to take pride in giving hot shaves. Holy Christ. And when I got up and looked at myself in the mirror and said something, Paul had nothing to say. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Nice ambience, guys seem friendly enuff; they give a standard $14 buck haircut (nothing great, but what you'd expect for $14 bucks), but --- DON'T GO HERE FOR A SHAVE! I'm starting a new job. I came here for a relaxing shave & you ass clown, Paul, not only did you eF it up, but you had TERRIBLE customer service. Were you just HOPING I wouldn't notice the gashes you left? Great atmosphere, totally dig the old vibe this place brings. Everytime I come here I feel like I should be driving a 50's coupe to the joint. Danny brings a great touch to this place with a great staff. I've had my hair cut by every barber here and I have not been dissatisfied. It's a blessing to have skilled barbers in our area. Finding a good barber seems hit and miss nowadays, glad to have found you. Sometimes the wait can be long, best to come on Tues - Thursday if you want to avoid the long lines. Plus I'm sure Danny could appreciate going home earlier. The man, straight up, takes care of everyone who's there before the shop closes. Means the poor guy doesn't leave til 7pm or later at times. Finally! I found a great place to get a haircut and my beard trimmed. I have always gone to places like great clips to get haircuts and it was always mediocre at best. I've always wanted to try a legit barber shop and after multiple friends and family recommended Danny at The Gentlemen's Parlor I figured I'd give him a shot. The atmosphere is welcoming and chill and the decor makes you feel like you're stepping into an old school barber shop. There is no reservations taken, which I like, you just sit down, chill and wait your turn. They're cash only but they have an ATM inside the shop. I waited for Danny and gave him an idea of what I've been doing with my hair and let him go to work. Saying I'm impressed with my cut would be an understatement. Literally the best haircut I've ever had, hands down. The attention to detail is second to none. My son and I will definitely be getting our cuts from here from now on. read more

After moving back to SJ from Chicago I was looking for a good barber shop to lay down roots at. I have been to them before and after trying other barber shops in the area I have come to the conclusion that this is the place for me. There are three traits that I am looking for that this place has, that the others lack but might have few but not all three. 1. Atmosphere 2. Personable 3. Quality. Those are three traits that I will break down about this establishment. The atmosphere of this place is very welcoming and has an old school vibe. The barbers are dresses for the position and are looking just as sharp as the haircuts they give. The place feels very welcoming even to a new comer. There is no sense of being an outsider and everyone knows each other but you. This is the reason why I feel the atmosphere here is the best in SJ. Another important trait for a barber to me, is the ability to be personable. I have been places where I feel that I am trying to build more rapport than the barber. Even at another establishment in SJ where the barber had his beats headphones on constantly checking their phone. To me that screams no cares given. To me building rapport adds to experience. Lastly I will talk about the quality. When you get a haircut from this establishment you leave not just looking good, but feeling good. Clean, crisp haircuts. I don't feel like I waisted my hard earned money and walk out with my head a little higher, chest out. They also know how to handle beard trimming. That alone, is not something I can say about other establishments in SJ. If you value having a good barber shop and look for the same traits that I do, then this is the place you want to go. read more

The barbershop is based on tradition, white smocks, straight razors and great music. I am almost 50 and growing up in the early 70s on military bases, reminds me of this shop. Here is a breakdown of talent and skill in the shop based upon my observations and experience over the last 6 years. Sitting in the church pews, yes, repurposed church pews (amazing and cool right) you are facing 4 barbers with one barber tucked in the far left corner. From left to right, Chair #1, I believe his name is Paul. He has cut my hair on three occasions and all three times, he screwed up my hair so bad on one occasion, the owner, offered a full refund when he saw my haircut. Paul tends to be very slow and can do a basic cut just fine, do dont ask for anything else from him. Next chair to the right #2 Chair, dont know his name. Great barber however he is new to the game but does a great job, does everything well. #3 Chair is empty now #4 Closest to the door streetside, that's Danny. Danny is a superstar in the world of barbering, and by superstar I mean he knows his stuff, is friendly, funny and offers a great cut, everytime. Consistency, quality and customer service is what makes this place shine. Lastly, the barber next to the interior store exit entrance. Older gentleman is Old School badassery in the shop, he is what barbers used to be and it is clear he is passing on a legacy. I dont judge a barbershop poorly based on one one barber out of four. That's like saying an entire team sucks because one player is slightly below average, it doesnt work that way or is fair. Great service, great quality, great, cuts. read more

Ive never heard of this place until yesterday. I was driving through town and was looking for a place to get a buzz cut and beard trim. I arrived and was instantly greeted by Danny, telling ms that there was coffee and donuts in the back. I sat down and was mesmerized by all of the 1950s & 1960s memorabilia, even the barber chairs are old style. I waited about 45 minutes, which i later found out it was a slow day. Normally its a 3 hr wait. If a wait is that long, the experience must be worth it. It was! I told Danny i wanted a trim. Had no idea of how short or long. He knew exactly what looked good without me tellinging him. Trimmed the beard. Contoured my bearded with a straight razor. Hot towel and massaged my scalp with this bad ass old massager that fits on your hand. All around amazing experience. Danny, you do amazing work! Thank you. read more

I've struggled with barbers in this town for a while, so coming across this place has been a relief. As far as I know, there are only 4 barbers, so so you'll end up getting a cut from the same people and if you like their work, you won't struggle to find another place. The parlor is nice, with vintage ads and other decorations of the such inside. It gives the place a more authentic feel of a barber shop from back in the day. The barbers were lively, and the one who cut my hair was friendly and thorough with his work (unfortunately I can't remember his name right now!) A few things to note: their opening hours are limited, so make sure you call ahead or make the time to go. My wait was almost 45 minutes, but since it's only 4 of them at a time, I'm not complaining much. They only accept cash, so bring that with you. Your amount might vary and they have an ATM, but it wasn't working when I went, so be careful.
