Now, let me get into their "Boozy Brunch". Apologies, but brunch shouldn't be the same food items on the dinner menu. Where are the eggs? Sweet and savory items (French toast, bacon, etc)? Yes, you can get people in with bottomless drinks for two hours, but you can get more people in with eggs Benedict and avocado toast! Especially, when you throw in some really great live music and singing! I would hope on my next trip to Melbourne, that I could return to this fantastic place and enjoy a good "brekkie" with a mimosa. A few ideas...Pork Belly Benny (you already have it on your menu), fried rice with a fried egg on top, linguisa or chorizo sausage on the side. Maybe a continental breakfast tray with mini muffins, croissants, fresh fruit, coffee/tea, and don't forget the avocado toast. Who does't enjoy a red carpet? Well once you enter the long room you are hit with an overwhelming amount of glitz, glamour and red carpet. You find 'The Long Room' within the Georges building down a flight of stairs. My friends and i were stunned by just how glamourous the venue actually is. We came here for after work drinks and once in the building were smacked with a bar as far as the eye can see (Seriously looks like it goes to the entirety of the venue) and classy lounges, booths and seats. This venue is really something out of New York, it's grand. The crowd is more or less suits and glamour girls but if you think they are going to be completely pretentious then you are wrong, the crowd was friendly and chipper. The drinks are a bit on the expensive side but for a venue like this, i'm happy to pay a bit more! read more

Lovely place with an older crowd (30's+) and great drink specials on a Friday night. $10 cocktails and $5 well drinks until 9:30pm. We shared tapas which were quite tasty. The saganaki was delish, moroccan beef-tasty, calamari-good and it's hard to mess up chips. Our server was quick and our empty glasses were quickly removed. I'd definitely come back here for after work drinks or for a few cocktails with the girls. Note: watch the huge step that surrounds the fireplace. I saw two ladies trip over this in a span of 3 hours. They were embarrassed and got up quickly, but someone could get VERY hurt. read more

Apart from the outstanding menu, the awesome presentation and reasonable prices, the thing that stood out the most for me was how professional all the staff and management are. I watched another patron complain about not being able to alter a dish, the waiter, manager and then chef all patiently explained that the ingredient they wanted removed was integral to the taste of the dish, then recommended several alternatives from the menu that would be suitable for their allergies. And all on a busy Saturday nights service. 5 stars is not a high enough recommendation. read more

Great for happy hour drinks. $5 basic spirits, wine, beer and $10 cocktails. Cocktails do start to take a while to arrive as happy hour starts to get into the swing of things. It seems to be a great place to start a Friday night (we left after a couple of sneaky drinks). For those wanting a bit more of a romantic, intimate experience, get a private booth with curtains, but do us that are in the main bar a favour, please close the curtain (may be speaking from experience here). read more

A popular place on Friday and Saturday night. It's quite a nice place to go dancing and just chill out. It is cosy and comfortable. The atmosphere is decent and the place goes of on the weekends. The bar can get very busy and you need to wait to order your drinks. When it gets crowded you need to get the bar tenders attention or else they will over look you. There's people having hens night out there. Also there is a nice comfortable sofa and seating area around the corner. There's like tables and seating areas around to relax. The place also serves nice food. Most people at long room are in their 20s. On top of that the entrance is free. read more

Hmmm, how does one write this place up/ Summise? Essentially, Long room is a living example of an interesting social anthropology thesis: the venue and the type and range of clientele it attracts are very interesting indeed. Think mainly most people that are trying to fit in to high society, or at least look the part, a lot of suits that are. and then opposing that, those type of people that take advantage of such scenarios. In any case they are all guzzling booze with un yielding thirst. The bar range and selection isn't bad, but long room is also a little bit seedy, but also in a slightly elegant fashion. Think long queues and guest lists and that sorta thing on Friday/ Saturday nights. (privilege and exclusivity) There are also little booths/private areas off to the side, which have definitely resulted in some late night tales of inebriation and other mischief. Through all these things combined, long room is a great people watching venue. Though when its busy its probably so packed, it's not even worth the effort. Ummm $35 all you can eat tapas?! Hell yeah! Happy hour till 9.30 on Friday with $11 cocktails and $6 basics. Yep and yep. Seriously when people say tapas for dinner all I think is that I'm going to have to pay for 2 dinners tonight because the first one won't even hit the sides and I'm going to have to make a maccas stop! but the tapas at the long room are delicious and keep coming! We had to ask them to stop because we were so full! Definitely worth the $35. Only downside was that the music was really loud (great tunes though- old school rnb and 90s pop) so we couldn't really talk. Crowd late 20s mix of after work, cool kids and regulars. I met a friend here for a pre-show drink and tapas. She had been raving about their tapas special for weeks so decided as we were going to a show nearby we would give it a go. What a great decision that was! At the moment they do a special for something like $29.95 all you can eat tapas along with $10 cocktails (which are delicious). I was dubious of the tapas special as I know other places that do something similar and the portion sizes are tiny and not value for money. Long room however is not the case. As each dish came out I was surprised by the size of each one. Everything we had was delicious and well washed down by a couple of cocktails. The service here is great, we were well looked after by the team who were quick to see we were finishing our current plate of tapas and came to offer more and happily my drink was never dry. I would recommend long room to anyone in need of a meeting place for a quick drink and something to eat before a show at any one of the theaters nearby. It is also a great place to settle in for the night with a great drinks menu. I would however prefer more couches if that was my intention though. read more

I had the pleasure of having my first dining experience at the Longroom last night ( A Tuesday). Ambience, Ambience, Ambience along with very attentive service and a great value for $ Tapas menu. Although we were short on time the service was prompt and the food delicious. We dined on the Tapas menu - yes as many of my friends are aware, its is all I do lately. I admit I'm a fan of my veggies so the Champigion Mushroom with rosemary, pine nuts & balsamic vinegar went well with our albondigas - Spanish meatballs stuffed with cherry tomato & served with a tomato sugo. The spicy prawns were a winner & the eggplant stuffed with soy cheese, roasted capsicum, tomato & pine nut was very tasty too. I was very happy with The Longroom, I wish I had the chance to spend more time there but at least I know now that I can go back and and know that I won't be disappointed. read more

Came here on a Saturday night for a friends bday, it would be nice if they turned on some air conditioning - it was about 50 degrees inside the place. The DJ played about 30 seconds per song and was scratching the discs during the 30 second mix which meant there was no consistent beat to dance to. Spirits were $10 which I thought was quite expensive for a single shot of alcohole, a whole bottle only costs $30 at the bottle shop... I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on a weeknight, just for a few quiet drinks and tapas. There were probably about 15 people in the party, with attendance scattered over the course of the evening. It wasn't a particularly busy night at the bar, but for some reason the service was completely lacking. After arriving we were assured someone would be by to track drink orders soon, but we waited about 20 minutes before we could even flag someone down. At which point they only took orders for the four of us quick enough to get in. How strange? We made sure to get in a food order when they brought our drinks (and made sure the birthday girl was able to get a drink this time around). I was pretty excited about the all you can eat tapas, particularly all the cheese based items! I thought $28 for all you could eat (even though you could only order 2 per person at a time) was pretty decent. The foot itself was very good. There was a wide variety and everything seemed fresh. My problem reamains with the service. Dishes were often forgotten and drink orders rarely taken. I can guarantee a lot more money would have been spent by this group if we were able to get someone by the table more often. I was only on the soft drink that night, but those around me were quite surprised to be paying $14 for a pint of beer or cider. That does seem pretty steep! The cocktails were around the average $20 mark though. Despite the great value of all you can eat tapas, I can't imagine myself returning here again. read more

Great place for dinner and drinks. Quiet around 7, and the music gradually get louder through the night. We sat in a booth behind the sushi bar which was great for 4-6 people, and the good on offer is great. Would highly recommend the sticky rice dessert. Classy place for dinner and drinks. They won't amend anything for allergies - not even garnish because it 'affects the taste.' The new menu is by an ex-Masterchef contestant - hardly a position to rest your laurels on. If you're a decent chef you should know how to amend while still delivering a good dish. Extremely pretentious for an up-and-comer - especially in a big restaurant that's half full on a Saturday night. The headphones don't help either. read more

Tacky surrounds and awful music make this an almost unbearable experience. The food wasn't garbage but it will punish your wallet pretty badly. The sushi is quite generous for a large group (we were 14 people). If you're over 40 and want to relive the worst clubbing of your life then this is for you. My husband and I went to the long room on a Friday night for a bit of dancing and fun. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Servings were huge so don't get an entree and main if you're a small eater!!!!!! Service was fantastic. Waitress was very efficient and friendly. The music was great. I'd definitely go here again. With the happy hour drinks it was a very cheap night out. I would recommend the long room to anyone read more
