Today I got an email from GWU asking me to donate What was maddening was not because of their asking for money. GWU has always been about the profits. It was maddening because it was requesting a donation to a fund titled "GW Cares Student Assistance Fund" I scoff at the mere existence of this fund because GWU does not care about their students. There has been numerous suicides over the past decade at GWU and all GWU does is pump money to get those articles swept under the rug. I tend to bump into major or small town college campuses on my travels. On this trip it was George Washington University in Washington DC. I had time with my DC friend to kill before another friend from Canada had agreed to meet me in Washington DC and continue my trip into Delaware. And so, we (DC and I) opted to spend an hour walking off breakfast at George Washington University campus while playing Pokémon Go. It's a nice experience, looking at the interesting architecture of the campus buildings and how it works with the surrounding community at large. There was a few people walking around bundled up as was I, as it was around 40s F that morning. Didn't feel that cold but it is what it is. There's many buildings on the main campus of George Washington University and the thought of studying here seems farfetched, but with money and time an of course a thirst for knowledge, anything is possible. My friend and I walked to a bunch of buildings while admiring anything and everything that is college life. Remembering my days as a college student brought back memories. The enjoyable factor really is the memories that I made through my college years and being here on the campus of George Washington University helps with that. My friend and I walked up to the various buildings for the arts and business. A lot of college buildings are general purpose for professor offices, class rooms, and lecture halls. We ended up going inside a few buildings since it was on a Friday and classes were in session at the time. It was weird and nostalgic at the same time. Thankful for various water stations inside the buildings to help stay hydrated. The overall experience here at the George Washington University was nice and relaxing. It took away my cares and concerns for a hot minute, knowing what I was going to do in Delaware the next morning. The simple pleasures of walking around a college campus is awesome and inspiring. Future leaders are made here and hopefully the future generations can be proud to have studied here and anywhere higher learning knowledge can be acquired. The campus is well maintained and definitely felt at home here even though I don't live here in Washington DC. I figured that tuition can get pretty crazy here but with hard work and some scholarships, many students can graduate with success. While I was roaming in the halls, the various things associated with college life made me smile. The countless hours studying and not really having a social life and living on cheap college type food unknowingly helped me balloon to 300 lbs. oh yeah, fun times. It was cool to see classes in action again, especially with Covid putting a damper on things. George Washington University is a top notch collegiate institution that welcomes everyone who meets their stringent academic requirements for entry. For myself though, walking around the campus to kill time and to enjoy the beauty of the campus helped me think of the more simpler times of my life back in the days I was in college. That hour walk was special and enjoyed everything about the George Washington University campus. If you are passing thru or thinking of going to school here, consider walking around the campus to get a real feel vibe for it. The campus is beautiful and recommend coming during the fall months and not like me during the dead of winter. George Washington University is located at 2121 Eye Stret NW in Washington DC. It's blocks away from the White House. As with many major universities, they do offer practically everything in terms of helping their students succeed, including the financial aid. The tuition needed to come here can be a significant burden on monthly personal finances, but once graduation is in reach, many would say it has been worth the journey. The campus has generous parking areas, many of which are attached to the buildings themselves. Commuting here usually isn't a problem for most people, since the city of DC offers metro rail, as well as local bus service to shuttle the citizenry around every day. Choose the right routes that are good for you to get here to the George Washington University campus. I felt safe here and, while it was winter time in January, I thought I would see snow here. That wasn't the case. The ambiance of the campus was breathtaking and hope to be back. The campus is beautiful and can definitely recommend anyone and everyone to take a walk around the campus. Whether you're a prospective student, alumni, a tourist, or just one who enjoys walking thru beautiful places. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+ read more

GW is neither five stars or one stars. They are kind of average. As a graduate student, I don't see much of the campus except for my class rooms and walking to class. Don't really eat on campus nor use any of their services. However, one thing i have to complain about is tuition. ARE YOU KIDDING ME $3400 for ONE CLASS??!! Outrages. Anyways, for one year of undergrad at GWU I got my whole undergrad degree for probably half of one year of tuition at GW. GW is also great for proximity to federal governments (Department of state, etc). Parking also sucks at GW but metro is right in the middle of campus. Sometimes i think to myself...students pay huge amounts of money for dorm rooms that have AC sticking out their windows. Really? Anyways, not bad but not great either. tip: if you are a student who is probably gonna take $100,000+ to go to this school; DO NOT COME HERE. If you are from a rich family and can afford $60,000 undergrad tuition definitely come and spend your money here. If your a grad student taking out loans/scholarshi/GTA/parents: really think about going here. My program will cost me about $56,000. Again, i got my undergrad for $30,000. GW does offer a GOOD education and have a GOOD reputation. read more

Great location (downtown DC), but no actual campus to speak of. The dorms are mixed right in with private buildings, stores, and restaurants. While many street corners say "Quiet Zone", the vast array of Greek life ensures that it is anything but. Trust me, you'll know EXACTLY when the students return from summer break and when they've finished final exams, because the whole area will be one loud party. That said, if you go here, you are paying for the name. I guess you used to also pay for the ranking too, but now that GW got kicked off the list, all you get is the name. Its programs are similar to all other DC universities, so I'd carefully paying the price tag before enrolling. read more

My kid goes to GW and I've had the opportunity to visit the school several times. I think it's great, but more importantly, my kid loves it. She worked really hard in high school and got accepted to some great schools and chose GW for its academic programs, location and GRANDE scholarship they awarded her. I love Washington DC, it has so much to offer and GW is right at the heart of it all. So far, all positive experiences, worthy of 5 stars. read more

The school admission process is abhorrent. I sent many documents over and over again, and they kept losing them. Then, I got an email (after I paid the admissions fee) that my application would be closed due to not having sent the documents over! I found out that they changed emails and didn't notify anyone about it and as a result never got my documents. It took weeks for them to fix the system and as a result, I didn't get an admission. George Washington was at fault here, but they decided to blame me, and then 'ghosted' me when I wanted to make a complaint and get a refund. read more

I don't always sign myself into financial slavery, but when I do it's at The George Washington University. In a lot of ways, I'm like The Little Mermaid, except I'm a guy, I can't sing, I'm WAY more tanned than she was, and I'm not into guys, but outside of that... I'm just like her. I made a deal with FAFSA the Sea Witch and whenever I think about how much I owe, I lose my ability to speak and I get delirious to the point that I think ocean animals can talk to me. Wait, this is supposed to be a five-star review, right? Tuition costs aside, I really enjoyed my time at GW. It's smack dab in the middle of DC, so you really have a wealth of opportunity around you. All of the major tourist attractions are just a short walk away. I used to do my late night studying down at The Lincoln Memorial with The Washington Monument in direct line of sight. Seriously, you can't beat the location. I received a great education with an abundance of support. It's a great school. read more

Let's face it, kids. Graduate school is a business transaction. You fork over the cash and go to classes, you get a Master's degree. To be honest, I didn't find classes at the Trachtenberg School of Public Admin / Policy to be all that challenging or useful to my career. Quality of most classes was mediocre. The student body is absolutely brimming with over-inflated egos and an annoying sense of entitlement. I swear, if you pay enough money, anyone can have a soapbox to bellow from. The campus is a concrete jungle, with intimidating structures. Very unattractive. I honestly didn't find the career offiice or academic staff of the Trachtenberg school to be helpful in finding an internship or job. Yuck-o. read more

I got 99 problems and 0 financial aid as of October is one of them.... (Fall 2016 semester) This Fall semester GW gave its Financial Aid System an 'upgrade'. This caused my financial aid documents to get mixed up,and it has resulted in me getting HORRIBLY late financial aid (despite loooong having everything submitted by summer 2016).Hell,most of my tuition is not even paid.So,tack on the late fees all you want.Regardless,this university's 'mistake' has currently placed me in a temporary 'financial hole.'Unless you get a full ride at GW,you CANNOT easily live in DC as a graduate student.DC being the hotspot of 'unpaid' internships doesn't make things any better either.It seems as if this university's Financial Aid Office doesn't give a damn about ensuring that its students are financially covered during grad school.I'm sorry,but I've had nothing but problems with these people since Spring 2016 semester. It is also sad that I had to call this university's Financial Aid for 3 weeks in a row,then see them once in person just for them to finally take action on their mistake.All I can say is that I am highly disgusted,and I know that I will be undergoing some form of financial recovery whenever my financial aid disburses. I'm really looking forward to getting my internet/wifi/cable turned back on in my apartment.... read more

I went to George Washington University for grad school. I was in the public policy masters program. If you are thinking about enrolling in some classes or getting any kind of degree you better have some money. This school is not cheap. Just like a lot of high-priced schools, you are paying for the name. Overall I like the campus. It conveniently located downtown next to the Metro. There's some bars and restaurants nearby like 51st State and Froggy Bottom Pub. Plus with so many student organizations you always had something interesting going on. My experience with the financial aid office was not that bad compared to some of the horror stories people have told me. I think they only tried to screw me over once. I should be thankful it wasn't worse. The professors in my program were among the tops of their field. I like their course offerings. A complaint I have of the program is the lack of help in job placement. I expect a little more since I paid top dollar for the degree. read more

We were staying close to this University but had a chance to wander onto the school campus to just check it out and I was just amazed at how big the campus actually is. I kept walking past some part of it's campus from whichever direction you're walking to and from around near the White House area. The campus is well lit up and pretty safe since there is always someone on campus and security is also present there. The best part is that around the Cherry Blossom blooming time, there are also Cherry Blossom trees on campus that you can admire as well. read more

I too went to grad school here (engineering). However, I am glad I went to my classes in an off-campus program. Simply put, this campus is a pain in the neck to get on and off of, find parking...it's just congested as all hell. I've come over for events in the evening and it's still been a headache to find a place to leave the car, even though most of DC shuts down after 6 pm. To be fair, it does have the Foggy Bottom Metro station right on campus, which is better than the Georgetown main campus which has no such Metro of its own. My classes varied in quality. Most of them were OK to good, a couple of them had professors who basically didn't know how to teach, but you get that a lot in engineering curriculums. I will agree that the graduation location is fantastic and snags great speakers - presidents, first ladies and the like appear regularly. Finally, if you're in grad school here, and especially if you attended undergrad somewhere else (perhaps in a less affluent part of the country) you'll probably want to avoid the undergrads. As others have noted, there is a pretty big sense of ego and entitlement here. read more

I came to the university to attend a weekend training. Staying at a nearby hotel so I had to chance to walk around and see the different buildings. I like that the university is integrated with the city and you don't really feel like you are on a campus. Our training is a the Marvin center and it's a great functional building. My Alma mater. I got a fantastic education at GW. My Department (Econ) had world class professors, provided you avoided a few who stopped trying after they got tenure. I met a lot of extremely smart and interesting lifelong friends, learned a lot, and had a great time. With the high cost of tuition, there definitely came a lot of self-entitled douche bags from all over the country and world but there was plenty of humble, intelligent, and friendly people to choose from. GW's tuition is essentially a progressive tax structure. Although the sticker price is in the mid 50's, the average student pays about 35k (still expensive, I know). GW gives around the fourth most aid in the country. Obviously the students who pay full tuition are generally of a lower caliber than the average student (I think only about 15-20% pays full tuition) but they are subsidizing the tuition of the other 80% so they are a benefit to us ;-). The opportunity for internships in DC insures that most everyone comes out with a bit of real world experience which makes the competitive in the job market and allows them to at least start to figure what we want to do with our lives professionally. read more

Just two words to describe my daughter's experience thus far at GW. NIGHT MARE. She will be done in May. It has been a frighteningly long two years to get her Masters. Little to no support from the staff or professors. In fact, the first week there on campus she was screamed at by a professor for exercising in their work out facility that gave no indication students were not welcome. Part of her program required her to work in a 3rd world country for a month. She chose Haiti. She was basically dumped in the hospital alone with absolutely no support from her professor or guidance counselor. She returned home very ill, malnourished and discouraged. Any time I have ever attempted to reach an office on campus, no answer. It's extremely challenging, borderline impossible, to get answers to questions. If you're thinking about 1) going to school here 2) living on campus here 3) getting a job here (namely, in the GW Housing Department)...then this review is for you. I would THINK AGAIN, and seriously, choose somewhere else, run, don't walk, somewhere else--your pocketbook will thank you, your sanity, and quite frankly, so will your resume!!! (****Edited to add: if you're looking for a job in the government sector, then this school may be for you--but if you're looking at it for ANYTHING else, I recommend you go ELSEWHERE!!!) Let's be real, kids, you'll be broke if you go here. The tuition is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, it's one of THE most expensive universities in the entire world, and for the quality of degree you get and the reputation of the school--you can spend your money elsewhere. Also, DON'T live on campus. The folks who run the Housing Department here are absolute ego-maniacs, who claim they're interested in student development, but end up being complete condescending administrators who just want to reprimand you and get an ego-trip while doing it. They take their jobs way too seriously--i mean, really, you are a Hall Director and you wear a suit every freaking day to the office--PLEASE!!! Go to any other school and you will see an entirely different type of Housing Department that does NOT take themselves so seriously and walk around like they have a stick up their a$$! I talk to you from experience here--you do NOT want to deal with these folks, like EVER, and don't even think about talking your way out of a housing violation unless your parents are rich a$$ donors to the school. YES, they make excuses for those folks and they get off with a simple slap of the wrist! Don't even THINK about getting a job here with the Housing Department. That goes for you, students who want a housing job, or adults who are thinking about working in Student Affairs and aligning themselves with the Housing staff. It's a JOKE to work there, again, complete ego-maniacs who don't care a $h!t about you, they just care about themselves and how they can make themselves look best and work towards that next step in the career. Some of the folks there are so pathetic, they've been there for YEARS waiting for someone to die or retire so that they can get promoted. It's sad, really, and you come in and you just do all the work they don't want to do so they can take credit for it. It's sad that the rest of the university lets the Housing Department do whatever they want. The "Deans" or whatever they call the heads of the Housing Department--they have their heads so far up the rest of the GWU's Administrations a$$ses that nobody questions what they do nor thinks about completely revamping that entire office. I write this review in hopes to save the rest of you poor souls from the most horrible experience I've ever had in my entire life with these folks. And it's not just me, I have dozens of other unhappy folks who have left with a bad taste in their mouths and just figured GWU would figure it out at some point. I want to caveat this review by saying that I DID have great experiences with other departments and staff on campus. Take that for what it's worth, but I hope the President and others take a good hard work at what this department is doing for their school, put a focus committee on there, and give absolute immunity to folks who come forward to speak their mind about the injustice and horrible treatment these folks put on others. Just so you know, too--I was never written up, I was never fired, nor was I ever formally warned by the Housing Department. I was, however, treated with disrespect and disregard, and so were many of my colleagues and fellow students. read more

Um. Ok. Sooooo....yeah. GW. Where to start with you. I started at GW fall of '03, thinking I was going to major in political science or history. Ha! Haha. I took one poli sci course and realized that I did not have the personality to deal with all these people. You know who "these people" are? They're the assholes who wear their lanyards to class (and later in life, to happy hour) just so you know they work on the Hill. At GW, having an internship on the Hill is like being the kid whose parents bought him a Mustang in high school. Your lanyard is a status symbol up there with an iPhone and $200 jeans. Did you ever see the movie Election? GW is full of Tracy Flicks. Don't believe me? Stop by during class council elections. "Candidates" in GW elections are given a budget of $1000 and regularly use it all, if not more (I shit you not), and can often be found wearing suits and standing outside the student center passing out buttons and shmoozing. This is GW. There are few other schools where you will see this shit. Anyway. So what did I do once I removed myself from poli sci? I switched to physics. And later picked up math for shits and giggles and because I'm a masochist. But anyway, it took me 4 years to realize that staying at GW worked out pretty well for me. Because it was a small program I knew most of the professors and they knew me, often without ever having had me in a class. I spent two years TA'ing a lab, which is not something your typical undergrad ever gets to do. I got to go to Germany for two months all expenses paid plus a $3k salary to work on a nuclear physics project. I got to work with NASA scientists and take a couple of trips out to Goddard on an astrophysics project. I had an internship at NIST working on a nano project. Yes, you read that right. Intense involvement in three completely different projects AS AN UNDERGRAD. I wrote two thesis papers. All that fun stuff said, the actual classes were not very good. We had a couple of really great professors and quite a few mediocre ones. In the end, my physics education was really inconsistent. I might as well have not taken thermodynamics and I can't do the math for quantum mechanics, but magnetism? That's my shit, and all because I had a good prof (who left last year, go figure). So was staying at GW physics worth it after all? I won't be able to answer that until I try my hand at grad school and see how ill-prepared I am, but I can say this: my GRE physics score was pitiful. I don't really know how well the GW Experience worked out for my liberal artsy peers because I avoided their classes as much as I could. Pretty much all my friends had internships or interesting jobs while we were in school, and everyone is now employed in a real job (i.e. not food service or retail). I know the engineering school is actually pretty good. And regardless of what you study, you have to acknowledge that you are paying, at least in part, for reputation. Employers, especially in the DC area, are impressed by a GW degree. Student life gets better once you move off campus. Seriously kids, don't live in a dorm. GW has (or had, I hope) a safety inspection policy in which your RA can walk into your room unannounced and while you're not there and take anything they deem to be a "safety violation," which includes packaged, unused candles, lighters, and cigarettes. There is (or was, I hope) no mechanism for getting your stuff back. You will also be paying way over market value for the privilege of being treated like a child. Yes, the dorms are very nice, but so are a lot of the nearby apartment buildings, and they won't kick you out over winter break. As for the price. Geez. Yeah, it's a lot. Your best bet is to make sure you get that academic scholarship ($16k on entry, $20k if you get and keep your GPA up) and move off campus as soon as you can. I knew a lot of kids who graduated a year early, too. Is it worth it? I don't know. I don't know what would have happened to me had I gone to another school. It's what you make of it, I guess. The benefits of GW do not come to you, you have to seek them out. There are a lot of bitter students with huge loans at GW, but something keeps them from leaving. Oh oh oh and here's one more thing: the honors program is a joke, so don't even bother with it unless you're like...an anthropology major. Or if your goal is to work at a nonprofit Saving the World while your parents support you for the rest of your life. And, let's face it, there's probably a lot of truth to that. If you really do want to save the world you're probably better off actually being productive during your four overpriced years here instead of paying to sit around talking about Foucault (which, might I add, you can do without taking a class, ok?) read more

I am in the online MLS program and I am completely happy with everything. Even though I'm still local, I don't have to live in dorms or even step foot on campus, which is good because I hate DC. So I get a nice diploma that reads George Washington University without the traditional college baby bullshit. Curriculum is hard but it really prepares you for the Board Registry. The program directors and advisors are great and professors make every attempt to help you if you need extra explanation. GWU is the best college for veterans. Tuition is covered under the GI Bill (both 9/11 and Montgomery) but if you run out of benefits, GWU has an amazing Yellow Ribbon Program that will get you by the rest of the year. Trust me they work with you so you don't have to worry about anything other than school work. read more

I was super interested in this school. I inquired about more information for the degree I wanted, but I had a financial aid question I was hoping they could answer. When I first called, I just spoke with a Student Rep. which she then gave me the financial aid number, because she couldn't answer my question. When I called the financial aid number, they had no prompts for just general questions or even just an operator to help direct me. All it was, was for the financial aid for current students, nothing else. So, I pressed a button to try to get a live person on the phone, and the lady who answered the phone was clearly having a bad day. She answered quiet rudely. It was like her tone was so agitated I bothered her just by speaking. I simply asked her my question and told her the situation and what I was trying to figure out, when she rudely interrupts me multiple times and makes it seem like I'm some sort of idiot for even asking her a question. When I tried to slow it down and explain it calmly, she refused to hear me out and just said to call the billing department. I asked for the billing department number, and she refused to give it to me until after the 3rd time I asked. I then proceeded to let her know that maybe I had the wrong number, and she again makes me feel so belittled by her responses. Once I hung up the phone it was an immediate no for me, if that call went like that and I've not even applied myself to the school yet, then thanks for helping me not waste my time. read more

This is my future institution for grad school starting this fall, and I'm really excited! I got into one of the top MHA programs in the nation, and the staff and faculty for that program is amazing. I got in their graduate school of education, and they put on a nice, welcoming tea reception for accepted students. I also stayed with my friend that went to law school here and I liked her spacious apartment owned by the university, as well as the food court across the street (yumm stirfry). For a city campus so close to the Metro, it's nice, and has more tree lined sidewalks and brick buildings than expected. So give it a chance, whydontcha? I hear it has great international studies programs as well... read more

I am not an alum, but a parent of a GW student. Things incoming students should know: there are no good food options. J Street is a mall style cafe with poor choices. On weekends, J street - the main food option - is closed. Students are forced to find food off campus. Advising - non existent. My student was allowed to take Calc 2 freshman year while never having taken the equivalent of Calc 1. Needless to say, this was not a successful experience. Students are not required to get advisor sign offs after freshman year. Students are allowed to navigate on their own with no help or input. Finally, my student, in despair and isolation, tried to commit suicide. Fortunately, the student was unsuccessful. The school NEVER made any attempt to aid the family through this stressful time. The school made no attempt at contact to the family. The family was left to clean up the dorm room and the bloody mattress. The school made no attempt to help with planning for the withdrawal of the student or help in navigating the possible future paths for completing at GW. I would never recommend this school to anyone. read more

Working here isn't so bad because I did work with some good people in the chemistry department. However, working with the faculty can be a bit difficult. I managed to be admitted back in 1966, but never did enroll. This was my father's alma mater. I got to see the recent graduation ceremonies because my niece graduated as a doctor! Somehow it almost felt like I had gone here too. I was born in D.C. and this was a terrific graduation ceremoney (I went to the outside one for all of the colleges as well as the later one for the medical school). I was a student at GWU in the 1970's. I was a bio major but stuck in the pre-med track because that was all they had. I took 2 semesters of inorganic chemistry. In all my classes I got B's and C's on my tests and labs. Final grade? D for both classes. That pretty much ruined my chances of graduate work at a good institution. They said they graded on the curve, but honestly I think they were trying to eliminate pre-med candidates. I was not pre-med, just wanted to be a research scientist. Looking back, maybe females were easy targets to raise the bar for males wanting to get into med school. I know, because 4 of my housemates were pre-meds waiting to get into GWU med school. They were all cheaters and did whatever they could to get admitted. I always thought, these are doctors I would never trust....this is not epic or nice. It is the truth and I would love to hear from my fellow non-pre med science majors from then. Sometimes the truth has to come out. read more

I had one of the worst experiences in college while taking a class about Development & Diversity taught by a Graduate Assistant student (Nicole Fraise) who was VERY biased and unprofessional. read more

I would give the GW Graduate School School of Education No Stars. To International Students looking at this School do your research. This School claims to have a Non-Discriminatory Policy in their admissions process, which is not true. They use unfair practices. They have International students provide Official Transcripts/Evaluations for reviewing your application before an Admissions decision is conferred, which is not the same process for Domestic students (who have to provide Unofficial Transcripts). This is very expensive to do costing Hundred's of Dollars, before knowing if you have been Admitted. They try to cover it up on their website Admissions Section by claiming the Unofficial Transcripts is for all, until you start asking questions. Check out Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Vanderbilt......... who would not cost you $$$$ before being Admitted. Do your research!!!!! read more

The Good: Amazing professors. The education you receive here is top-notch. Depending on your field, the professors make themselves accessible, are amazingly gifted and very helpful. The administration helps out as much as they can, and the location is exactly where any politically-minded person would want to be. Getting internships and job offers wasn't an issue either, since the school does stick out on the resume. The Bad: the students - not all, but MANY - are...well, inhuman. Many students here know exactly what they want, come to school with a very strategic plan of getting political appointments. Some are so robotic about their careers you can tell they practice how to speak so that they can emulate their favorite politicians. It's kind of creepy. Attending GW made me realize that as a nation, we're screwed because political elites are molded from their college days to have canned rhetoric aimed at maintaining the status qua. Others are wealthy kidz who drive Ferraris to campus. They don't really communicate with anyone who's not in part of their economic class. They're not terribly intelligent, so trying to hold conversations with them often results in trauma. The Ugly: the price; granted, I mostly recieved scholarships to come here, but I spent a few years extra which resulted in my having to pay out of pocket for one semester. The price is daunting. But well worth it on some level. read more

Exceptional University with a amazing abundance of resources. GW career services is the best! They will help you find a job after graduating. The GW Textile museum is so gorgeous. The University does a wonderful job building and maintaining its world class DC facilities. People say tuition is expensive, but that's how it is with every first class University. read more

As an Alumni, I can say I loved attending GW. The graduate program was applied, the faculty were impressive, my time at the White House interning was equally as amazing. A great experience to build a foundation for my career. I lived at the Shenley at 2121 H. Street. A great place! read more

No doubt an excellent institution of higher learning. They're obviously doing well sense they own the most property in DC next to the government. The location can be a bit sketchy at times and I do wish the tuition prices were a tad lower, but thank you for giving my child an excellent education and experience that they'll never forget. George was a great guy. So glad that they named a university after him!

This school does not have very good financial aid packages so don't expect much. Their financial aid offering was half of what every other school awarded my daughter. There were extremely unfriendly and they will not review or reconsider their offer. If you need financial aid mark this school off of your kid's list. Probably a big reason why they have so few minority students at their school. read more

GWU was my dream school. When I got my acceptance letter, I couldn't have been more thrilled. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I'll keep it short. I immediately felt like a number in the Columbian College. I didn't have a real advisor, but rather an advising class. My advisor was rarely available for one on one meetings so I was left to my own devices. I had a roommate who did not bathe, left the door unlocked and got my laptop stolen, and more. When I tried to change rooms or get my own apartment off campus, the housing office would not allow me to do so, even after months of complaints from me. Another unfortunate event occurred when I got mono. Only 1 out of 6 of my professors gave me excused absences from classes. I ended up receiving incompletes, getting bad grades or was forced to withdraw from my courses that semester because I had missed so much work. Needless to say, after my second year, I transferred to a different school and it was the best choice I have ever made. read more
