Upon first visiting the pub, I noticed an instantly friendly family atmosphere. The decor is all modern, with a lovely calming fish tank in the wall & local pictures such as the Donington Race Track. The pub has a restuarant attached to it, which I am yet to try. It looked very busy, with people waiting for a table which is always a good sign. The food smelt good as well! The drinks were at the going rate for the area, however I think it has a lot more to give than other local competition with wooden decking (along with spotlights) on the front which would be great to sit around in the summer.

I had a tasty panini which came with a generous portion of salad. I mention the salad as it was varied and had a tasty dressing which is important as no one wants to see a pile of limp iceberg lettuce. My companion had a bison burger which they enjoyed. However, the stars of the meal were the chips. They were amazing! I didn't order any but I ate most of them on the plate. I was too full to eat dessert but they looked good. The Apiary also has an extremely large bathroom so if you like a good stretch whilst powdering your nose then this is the place for you.

I had some egg fried rice with it and there was just something about it that didn't seem like my locals egg fried rice. It was like the rice had been over boiled and the egg was added at a later stage and I doubt neither components had been fried at all. I know this seems harsh but I tell it as I find it and the most bizarre thing of all us the tables were laid out with spoons and forks........hello excuse me where are the chop sticks of do the people of Nottingham not have an ability to use them!!!!!!!!

However, do not go here if you would like a relaxed evening meal where you can take your time and talk as the service in here is like a bowling alley attendant handing out shoes. It is very quick to the point where you actually begin to wonder whether they are cooking anything fresh at all or just banging it in the microwave. I can say though I doubt this and the service, although too quick sometimes, guarantees that you are in and out in possibly half and hour if you wanted to be. Perfect if you are seeing a film, not ideal if you want to sit and enjoy the meal. Good food, pricing is about what you would expect from a chain and quick service.
