This was our last dinner in Christchurch but afterwards we wished we ate here more times.
We booked ahead of time for a special occasion but it was interesting that it was not even mentioned at any point. However the outstanding service, beautifully presented plates and delicious food was enough for both of us that evening.
Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed, reservation quickly checked and then allowed to choose our seat from any open table in the restaurant. We opted for the bar area with its unique skull wall art and smaller seating area.
We had a good idea of the food we wanted to try based on prior friend's recommendations but our server was engaging and walked us through the menu and ordering tips. That helped so much.
The food here was Asian fusion inspired and contained a lot more options to pick from the menu especially with various plate sizes and food choices. Great for satisfying any appetite.
The seared tuna small plate was a great start to our meal. The ponzu, citrus and mango gave it a distinct fruity and fresh taste.
The grilled eggplant was modified to a medium portion but had we more room in our tummies a full large would've satisfied our cravings for more. The various toppings added to the complexity and flavors of the dish as we gobbled it up.
The lamb chops were our large entree and a great serving of local lamb. Deep flavors, tender meat and nicely paired with the fluffy rice and labneh.
Sticky date pudding was our final dish and one of the best we've eaten since being introduced to it in Scotland. It was light and just the right level of sweetness but had they had a larger scoop of ice cream then it would've been perfect.
Definitely we will be coming back on our next NZ trip and highly recommended if you're considering eating here as well! read more
