The Melbourne store got back to me saying that the Perth store was keeping it on hold for some customer who would come to inspect it in the afternoon. Since no deposit was handed in, and since the website was still showing the watch as available, I purchased it online. The payment went through, I receive an order confirmation email and the website reported the watch to be SOLD OUT just after my purchase. All good, then? Not really. Five hours later, I find out my payment got refunded without even a courtesy call from anyone. I called the main office and I was shocked by the guy on the phone (guys, you really need to understand what proper customer service is), who didn't even apologize ONCE for what happened and didn't even offered me a possible solution to fix the problem. Since they had an identical watch available on the website (just with the steel band as opposed to the leather band), I proposed to buy that one (regardless of the fact that was more expensive) with the condition that they would offer me the same discount they applied on the one I bought earlier in the morning. They refused once again showing an unbearable carelessness  towards a problem THEY have created and a snobbish attitude that was really the icing on the cake. All I did was purchasing a watch from their website. And now I have no watch, no apologies, no valid alternative even offered. You tell me if this can even happen in a store that picture itself as a "fine retailer".

As with seemingly all of the fine jewelry storefronts along that part of Collins Street, Hardy Brothers' display cases shone beautifully with sparkling (and expensive) baubles and trinkets. Julianne Brewer, our comely customer sales agent (who, to me, bore a semblance to Nicole Kidman!), was (bar none) such a terrific person to deal with. She took the time to show us what we needed, answered all our questions, and made us feel like "friends," rather than customers. If there's anyone who I'd want to give my business to, it would be to Ms Brewer! She is as good as it gets...!!! (Alas, it's such a pity that Tiffany & Co. is just down the street....)

Cannot speak more higly of Elias in the TV department. After…read morea saga at Good Guys where I cancelled an order after third day of promising delivery, it was a pleasure to deal with Elias & we had our TV in 24 hours. After sales service was great too, I tried to set up a headset with the new TV and it proved challenging. He didn't have to do it but Elias continued to problem solve with me. TV headset all sorted now due to this work. Will go there again for anything else I need - great service and the biggest variety of household needs you could need.

This place is a decently large store. I'm really not a massive fan of Harvey Norman for electronic stuff, but occasionally you get a good deal. Usually not, particularly with computer stuff. The laptops and netbooks usually aren't too badly priced. The good thing about this place is the service. The staff tend to know their stuff, they're always offering to help customers, and usually you don't have to wait long before being served. I've brought stuff back for warranty fix ups, too, and I've been relatively pleased with the service I have received under those circumstances. I'll probably go back.

The space is enormous and yet every square inch has got something fascinating hanging or place there. The beautiful old decorations of the theatre and the ceiling are merely a backdrop to the treasure troves you can hunt through. There is a large collection of porcelain and china, they always have beautiful glassware, and some interesting medals and maps near the front of the store. Keep your eyes out for some great pieces of jewellery in the glass cases, and up the back there's a small collection of clothes. That's about as organized as it gets. Furniture including beautifully maintained tables, chairs and sideboards line up along the walkways and prints depicting anything from a landscape or garden to a vintage 70s woman are scattered on the walls and in piles. The owners are extremely useful when it comes to locating something. They have a mental map of the hall that is baffling, and they are always up for a chat about the origins of something that has found their way into the store.

To note... - The clothes are arranged by color and not sizes. - Make sure you get a loyalty card. For every $10 you spend, you get a sticker. We purchased a Fireclay sink, the external diameters were what we needed, no where on their website…read moredid it explain that there was narrowing inside, the reason we bought this particular sink is because the Fireclay sink that is in the kitchen doesn't narrow, which rendered the item we purchased from Schots useless. The first response we received from Suzanne Karras who is supposed to be their Customer Service Manager was "As you did not seek further information from our staff to find out if this sink would meet your requirements prior to purchase we cannot be held liable for the incorrect purchase made by you". She also included a highlighted section of their website that said "Never construct cabinetry without first measuring your actual purchased sink" to which we responded "we have not constructed cabinetry without measuring the sink. We do not appreciate you making an assumption and find it extremely insulting, and we ask that you refrain from making such claims" After explaining again that it was not advertised to have narrowing, we received from Suzanne Karras "We are at a loss to understand why this sink that you have purchased does not meet your needs." After explaining it AGAIN, we were met again with an insulting assumption "As the internal dimensions of the sink is not listed on our website, it is a shame that you have assumed that it would fit your special requirements of needing to fit a certain size dehydrator tray without consulting and seeking advice from our trained staff that deal with these products to ensure that it would be suitable." After many many failed attempts to contact Suzanne Karras, and even after a request to speak with the owner Neville Schot, we were then met with "I have spoken to the Director Neville Schot and he has asked me to advise you that he will not be contacting you by phone to discuss this any further." The lack of BASIC customer service, tact and kindness from Suzanne Karras and Neville Schot is disgusting. Buyer beware!!!! However, I would like to thank the young woman from their Clifton Hill Head Office and Jeanna from there Moorabbin show room. These ladies certainly know how to give PROPER customer service.

Multiple levels of decisions await you from knobs to knockers, furniture to fireplaces, tubs to tiles, doors to decor and so much more. There were plenty of staff available and importantly they were willing to help, even on a busy Saturday. If all that decision making leaves you needing to quench your thirst or stave of hunger pangs there is an on site cafe. I am yet to try it though.

It has never let me down and almost every visit has seen me walking away with something new. The staff here are very friendly - as they tend to be in op shops. There's something about volunteer staff that is just nicer than paid staff. The shop has always been a bit dated, which I guess is the reason why they were renovating last time I went. The prices in here can get a little high like all salvos and anything remotely vintage is instantly slapped with a higher price tag. Your average everyday supre singlets tend to be pretty cheap however. I'm not sure how the new design is going to affect the store but if they keep the same staff and continue stocking those rare finds I shall remain quite happy with them.
