Before ever going to Joy Church I used to have a tag line on my email that read, "It's not about…read morereligion...it's about a relationship" and upon my first time at the church Pastor Jim stated "There's something about Joy Church I want you all to know. We aren't religious. We never have been and never will be. We are about having a relationship with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ." WOW! This guy must have been reading my email. But that was only the tip of the iceberg. I was actually ENJOYING the message he was delivering because he was funny BUT not just to be funny. He always followed it with a bible verse to back it up. Pastor Jim is a Cominister (part comedian and part minister) or he is a Ministedian (part minister and part comedian). I kept coming back. I was looking for the ego to eventually appear. I have been attending Joy for over six years now and I still haven't seen it. What I have seen are people that love you almost as much as your dog can. (They haven't started wiggling their behinds when I come in the door like my dog does, but their love, caring and hugs are a close second). So, if you want to hear the word, COME TO JOY CHURCH. If you want to learn and grow in the Lord, COME TO JOY CHURCH. If you just need a hug or ten, COME TO JOY CHURCH. If you want to see my ORANGE car, COME TO JOY CHURCH! If you want somebody that will pray with and for you, PLEASE COME TO JOY CHURCH. Like the pastor says, if you give us a year and are all in, you won't be the same person you are now in a year's time. They select certain people and only they know when and where they are going to witness too. I didn't feel included with thing. One other thing, if your spouse passes away, don't expect them to doing random checks in you. My husband passed 3 years ago and haven't heard from them since. My brother saw them at his complex he talked to them and suggested they get in touch me. The pastors were embarrassed over it. I still never heard anything from them lol
