We loved the large variety of pumpkins, gourds, and squash. The mazes and spooky attractions were fun too. The shops are nice and have a good variety of items to buy, and they seemed to be of good quality. The pumpkins themselves were expensive and at least one of the mazes costs additional money after the entrance fee, which we thought was a bit much. Most of the things to do there are free, however. We came here for the bakery, and unbeknownst to us they also had a pumpkin patch situation going on that we couldn't say no to. For a small fee, we got to enter the patch that had everything from goats & pigs, to an old schoolhouse, to a corn maze, and so much more. We wandered around for a couple hours enjoying the fall weather - it was wonderful. I'd totally come back here again. read more

Pumpkin Perfect-We were in town visiting the beautiful city of Decatur, Illinois when we decided to take in some October Fall Festival Fabulousness and head to Arthur Illinois The Great Pumpkin Patch. We arrived there, parking was free. There was a 6 dollar admission fee, and kids 5 and under were free. Well worth the price of admission. There is lots to do for kids and see. We took a tour of the cornfields, and the driver was friendly and very informative. He showed us pumpkin vines and explained the crops and history of the farm, and all the world pumpkins they grow! There's shops, tons of pumpkin displays, love music, food, goats, alpacas, pigs, difference size corn/hay mazes for kids of all ages, and delectable kettle corn! What a RIP-OFF if you are childless and only coming to buy pumpkins! My husband and I made a trip of it and drove down from Wisconsin, a 3 hour + trip, lured by the website promise of over 400 varieties of pumpkins and gourds in addition to their seeds for sale. I'm sure this place is nuts on the weekends and I am sure it is a terrific destination to bring the kiddies! We came on a Thursday and I really don't appreciate the fact we had to pay an entrance fee, I believe $12 for 2, when we literally spent over $150 on pumpkins!!! Unbelievable! There definitely was NOT 400 varieties available and I'd say I am being generous in saying maybe 75.... What was available was definitely a quality product although completely overpriced! The seeds for sale were literally the same basic seeds you can pick up at ANY garden center. Beautiful grounds with unique and interesting displays in addition to a real old one room school house transferred to this location. Corn maze looked fun yet it was closed and guess what, you got it, an ADDITIONAL fee! Beware of the psychotic alpaca who was getting ready to spit at me as I was walking by only to buck up and start charging toward me!!! Lady at entrance gate says staff is aware of this problem. Uh well, why aren't there warning signs??? Live on a farm and I wasn't afraid but I would hate to see a kid get hurt by that beast just walking by minding their own business! Got a few unique pumpkins and then just drove back to BEACHY's Market and bought their HUGE, BEAUTIFUL $6.99 each pumpkins!!! PS - It is now less than 2 weeks later and several of the $12 to $16 each pumpkins are ROTTING! Really disappointed and yes, I KNOW proper maintenance. read more

Unique cute place! Prices aren't too bad either. They have a bakery, candy store, and ice cream shop which is neat!

This was my family's first time at The Great Pumpkin Patch (NOTE: this was during COVID-19 times). I have to say, I was impressed. They did a wonderful job following all current guidelines and went above and beyond. It was not crowded even on a Saturday afternoon and all staff and nearly all customers wore masks the whole time even when outside (they are required when interacting with staff). There was a wide variety of pumpkins, maybe more expensive than Negangards (if you're familiar), but not outrageous. Our kids has a blast picking out pumpkins and playing on some bigger ones. There were also cute little stations to take some photos. We stopped for some baked goods on the way out which they are selling using an outdoor set up. You can't go in the store and there are only portapotties, which I am sure is just due to COVID, but worth noting. We just ate in the car and at home. Everything was delicious! Granted - we've never been when they've had entrance fees and other activities so we can't compare, but we all had a great time and I actually prefer the simplicity of picking out pumpkins and just walking around with family vs bustling around from one thing to the next. read more

It's a beautiful place. Everything is uniquely decorated and there is so much to see. The admission was excessive though... Adults $6/week and $8/weekends. Dont remember kidss prices. The on top of it, the pumpkins, squash, gourds... were overpriced! Who can afford to take the family and purchase pumpkins? No way! Many less expensive places to go, maybe they don't offer the pizazz, but you can buy more pumpkins to carve with the family. read more

So in response to Lisa B, I have been to MANY pumpkin patches in my day-- from Washington to Illinois-- and they have all required an entrance fee and some sort of fee to ride to hayride or enter the corn maze. While Walmart doesn't charge an entrance fee, it is also a multi-billion dollar corporation vs. family owned farm who is probably accuring the bulk of their yearly income in one season. So does it suck to have to pay for everything--yes-- but unless you want to visit the neighborly pumpkin patch that doesn't necessarily have all of these attractions (i.e. Curtis Orchard), you can always get your pumpkins at the grocery store. Not to be mean, but going to the pumpkin patch is an experience, just like watching a movie and buying popcorn at the theatre. Now on to the pumpkin patch-- yes it is cute. Yes it is fun. Yes it is adorable. Yes you will have to pay for an entrance fee and pay for your pumpkins. But oh do they have sooooo many pumpkins to choose from. read more

I am not bashing this business by any means. I am all for family owned businesses but it is what it is. They charge you to get in $5.00 per person and then they charge you for everything inside. Well not everything but most of it. The corn maze, a ride around the farm, etc. The thought of having to pay to get in to buy a product is just not right. It's like paying to get in to shop at Walmart. It's just not right. I also thought their pumpkins and gourds are expensive. You buy them by weight. You would be much better off purchasing from Prairie Gardens or County Market and save yourself the drive to Arthur. There is also a bakery there that you do not have to pay to get into but it's not much of a bakery. The only thing I bought while at the pumpkin patch was some potpourri that I thought smelled good but once opened the smell somehow disappeared. read more

We've been taking our kids to The Great Pumpkin Patch for years and now we're taking our grand kids. It's an amazing place in the country where the kids can be outside instead of watching TV or playing video games. There's room for them to explore and so many things to do. Sure, there's a nominal gate fee but by far a bargain when looking for a way to spend an autumn day. The pumpkin ice scream is great and the family that runs it has always been so friendly. My kids loved it and my grand kids do too!! Would highly recommend it!! read more

This is a favorite fall activity for our whole family! It is amazing how much effort the owners put into making the farm filled with activities and beautiful things to see. It is well worth the small charge to get in, as you can spend a lot of time exploring and enjoying the displays. I have tried so many different varieties of squash that taste amazing and I would have never even heard of if I didn't visit The Great Pumpkin Patch. And the bakery's cookies are to die for, and the angel food cakes (which I normally do not like) are the best I've ever tasted. read more

We visit the Pumpkin Patch every year. The kids love the activities! The straw bale maze is a favorite (free with admission) and they love having their picture taken at every wooden cutout station we come across (also free). They also love the little haunted barn (free again) which isn't too scary but really funny. After tromping around the grounds we always grab some pumpkin ice cream (a big draw for me) and enjoy sitting at the picnic tables and enjoying the live music. Last year we caught a great bluegrass act (which was also free with admission) and tried the corn maze for the first time. I think the corn maze was a highlight for me - getting to the center and going up in the lookout station and seeing the entire maze from above was, well a-mazing! Another highlight is that they weave in educational information about pumpkins and gourds throughout the grounds. Who knew that there is a curcurbit for every letter of the alphabet? Not me - that's for sure! And last but not least the setting is ideal for great family photos! What a wonderful backdrop for getting great fall pictures of the kids. read more
