Good lucking eating here when Panda Express, Rubio, and Wolfgang Puck's are right by this place! This place definitely satisfied my salad craving for today. There are loads of salad options to make the custom salad of your choice for an affordable price. This is in the middle of the 1st floor of Ackerman Union on UCLA campus. Pretty central and hard to miss. Tons of leafy options and different varieties of toppings. Beyond just the basic tomato, carrot, and cucumbers- there are options (over 50) to turn the salad into a Southwestern salad or a more East Asian inspired salad. There are veggies, protein (tofu!!), dressings, and crunchy toppings too. Took a star off because they didn't have any more Thai peanut dressing when I went. :( There are also ready made salad options (including quinoa, potato salad, macaroni salad, etc), fruit bar, pasta bar, ready made pasta/mac n cheese, soup options, and bread too! Tons and tons of options for anyone's palette It's a buffet style concept- you grab a plastic container and fill it up with what you want. You have it weighed at the end and the price is calculated per ounce depending if it's hot, cold, or hot/cold items. Don't remember the price points but I paid $9 for a very sizable amount of salad with heavy protein. Not bad.

Pros: fast, healthy, variety of options at salad bar Cons: crowded during rush hour I usually get the pastas or build your own salads - both of which are sold by the ounce. If you're looking for a quick and healthy meal, I'd recommend Greenhouse above all other options in Ackerman. It's also very quick and convenient because it's self serve. I usually spend around $5-10 on a salad here and ~$5 on pasta. The salad bar has plenty of toppings which is great for people who want to old up their salads. They also have soup for anyone with dietary restrictions. Overall, this place is good if you're in a rush and want something healthy.

Yay for this! There was a salad bar downstairs in the Coop previously but that was always pretty mediocre. For this place, they pulled out all the stops. The vegetables seem fresher, the variety is far greater, the ambience a lot more fun. It's amazing how much stuff they cram into this space without it feeling overly crowded- a made-for-you counter; the standard salad bar; the fruits/rice salad/couscous bar; the potato bar; the warm pasta dishes; and soup. The quality of everything is far superior to anything else I've had from an ASUCLA-run restaurant, which is the biggest surprise at all. I don't feel like I'm making a compromise eating on campus when I'm here. The only dislike is not specific to here - food-by-the-ounce always makes me nervous. Since I tend to gravitate to the heavy/dense things (tofu, garbanzo beans, rice salads, etc), I'm always holding my breath at weigh-in. Boy, I've been suprised at times. Anyway, don't forget to check out the spudware the have near the checkout: spoons and forks made from potatoes! They also have what appear to be plastic cups that supposedly biodegrade in a couple of months (as do the spudware, or so they claim). I'm conducting experiments right now!

Can't count how many times I've been here for lunch. It's a good way to have a diversity in your food. There's a line at check-out usually during peak hours.

Really nice interior and it was really nice and comfortable eating inside, but it also looked like it would be nice to dine outside if the weather is nice out. Menu is pretty simple, but they do have a variety of items from salads to soups to sandwiches and burgers and pizzas. Think the most expensive item I saw on the menu was a $44 steak, so prices are somewhat reasonable. I got a Tuscan chicken sandwich with fries. The food wasn't spectacular, but it was pretty good and actually filled me up. Service was nice and friendly. If you read the bottom of the menu, it says tipping is actually not expected and accepted. Kind of weird, but I'm not complaining.

Both times I came for a meal, I wasn't that happy with my entree. One time the chicken sandwich, and second time the risotto. I was also still hungry after eating the risotto, so an appetizer or side of fries or hummus would've been nice. The people I was with enjoyed their burger, so that's a plus! I'd give the food 3.5 stars, the drinks 5 stars and the service 5 stars as well. Wish they could lower the price of their drinks though. I do like that there is a bar and seating just inside. Didn't realize this place is inside a hotel! Super cool.

The pork chops were delicious and packed with flavor, but the spinach underneath was a bit too bitter for my taste. The mashed potatoes were creamy, soft, and comforting. We also loved the Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad -- both were super solid sides. Drinks were perfect and balanced out the dishes really well. Service and atmosphere were great too.
