I had the pleasure of participating - notice I said participate rather than attend, as it truly is an interactive performance - in the Haunted Dollhouse experience. I can scare easily, so I was a little concerned that I would be too startled, or fearful of a scary dollface. While I did scream a few times when something sudden happened, my main take away is one of Delight, Whimsy, Playfulness and Reverence. The house in which the scene is set is a masterpiece of intricate art - filled with gorgeous mosaics, theatrical curtains, history both painted on the walls and held in all manner of precious trinkets and artifacts. Our clown hosts were a joy, and I giggle as I recall how they played with us throughout the journey. The resident witch brought a deep, grounded presence to the tour show, and I even learned that I have a haunted object at home that wants to be exorcised! (post-show homework!) I experienced the most reverence in the room that I was afraid of the most at first. The clown and witch hosts shared the history of the dolls, which is also the history of people and place. I left the room no longer scared and instead touched by the stories behind each doll. Another favorite moment was the tea party (!!!) with delicious tea and homemade cookies and pastries and even scull shaped sugar cubes!? I love the attention to detail and handcraftedness in every aspect of the experience. And finally the cleansing ritual at the end felt powerful and very real. I had such an amazing day at the Gregangelo! Our guide was Nick, who was incredible. I purposefully didn't google anything about this museum so I could enjoy whatever came up for me naturally. It's an interactive museum that calls for deep reflection which is right up my alley. I will also say, I chose this place as a first date and I thought it was a really good choice if I say so myself lol. You will end up learning quite a bit about the people in the room and it was a treat. Can't wait to go back and try another experience! read more

Each room is more spectacular than the one before. Such incredible talent! The tour we did (Combo Tour: Twice Upon a Time) was worth every penny. Be sure you do it with family or friends who you feel safe and comfortable sharing your deep thoughts with in order to make the most of this experience. No cameras are allowed inside. The expectation is that you are fully present and engaged during the tour which we were. We attended the haunted dollhouse tea party. The description said it was only for adults, but we felt it would be better geared to children. The actresses giving the presentation were really working, but it was pretty corny and cheesy. We thought, at least we are going to have a tea at the end. Tea turned out to be a cup of tea, flavor challenged vegan cake, one cookie and one strawberry. For the price we paid, we thought it would be at least a nice tea with some decent pastry. There are bakeries in SF that make good vegan pastries. For us it was not worth the price we paid. read more

I went here with my family (we were a part of 11) and we had the whole place to ourselves! I had no idea what I was getting myself into, as my Aunt, who booked our visit, said we were just going to the "Gregangelo Museum" nothing more, nothing less, and so I assumed it was your average museum. This museum is far from average. When you enter the neighborhood, you'll easily find their house sticking out among the other homes, and because our group was so large, we were divided into two. My group and I started outside and made out way out, while the remaining group started inside and made their way out. This less of a museum, was more like an immersive experience throughout the home that Greg lives in, where you're guided by someone who asks you riddles, and questions that prompt you to open up to those in your group. (Fun fact, I cried at one point, and JKSHDFJKDHFS I didn't expect that I would be doing ANY reflecting, especially out loud lol) The house is made up of art and materials that were either donated, recycled, or found, and has been about 40 years in the making. The garden in the backyard is beautiful, and all of the rooms inside were breathtaking. I definitely recommend checking it out at least once, and bring some friends! read more

I experienced "Phantasma: Embrace Your Fears" during Halloween season a couple years ago, and what an adventure into the afterlife! Cool sets, awesome props, even a live snake, and of course great actors and performers to captivate and intrigue guests. They made great use of the outdoor space around the property during COVID, and it was interactive, so actors would ask questions that inspired creative thought and imagination, and of course included commentary that incorporated a bit of humor while still staying in character. Fast forward two years, and I'm able to journey "Into the Rabbit Hole" and finally explore the inside of this one-of-a-kind museum. It's actually a home in a residential neighborhood, but that just means parking is pretty easy to find, since the shows/experiences are by reservation only, and limited to small groups. Gregangelo is the owner and also founder of Velocity Arts and Entertainment, a traveling circus troupe. He was also the guide for our journey into the rabbit hole last week, where my party of two joined another party of one, to transform into three bunnies, as we entered the premises. The outdoor decor and props were partially covered, perhaps being renovated/changed. But inside was a whole 'nother story. "Into the Rabbit Hole" is basically a tour of 8 out of 27 rooms in this museum, where pretty much everything is art... the decor, the paintings, the furniture, the lighting, even the quotes and words hidden in various places. But there's somewhat of a storyline being followed (because as I mentioned, you are a bunny as you enter). It's definitely unique, I'd describe it to be something like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Except, instead of Willy Wonka, it's Gregangelo. And instead of a chocolate factory, it's this maze of art and color, and symbolism, and stories behind the various props and items presented, strange corridors, choices to be made, plenty of thoughts and ideas for reflection. And you don't get to the next room without some kind of exploration or sharing of personal beliefs and feelings, or perhaps solving some sort of riddle. I liked not knowing what to expect, while also being able to appreciate the art all around. Some themes included a room full of musical instruments, a room focused on the circus, and an earth room. My favorite room was the Falling Star Room with a swing for sitting, and love tarot cards in Arabic but translated to English with words like "friendliness" or "attraction" to define a component of love associated with each guest (or bunny, lol). No there are no Oompa Loompas here unless you count the writers or other staff, but I swear Gregangelo is just as genius and mysterious as Willy Wonka, and the various rooms we ventured through were odd and whimsical, evoking curiosity, and challenging us to turn our dreams into reality. Maybe the song Pure Imagination should be playing, while exploring the little details of Gregangelo's humble abode!?! I've enjoyed my experiences at the Gregangelo Museum. In the end, I think we are inspired to become better versions of ourselves in some way. read more

We had no idea what to expect when booking The Haunted Doll House for our 17 yo's birthday; we just knew that the description was intriguing and compelling, and different enough to make for a memorable event. We were able to "buy out" one of the showings, so an already intimate experience was that much more special; the show? experience? journey? was spooky, funny, and quite magical. The staff delighted me as much as the gorgeous museum backdrop -- they were charming and entertaining, but also friendly and flexible, and I could tell they were adapting on-the-fly for our audience, which was on the younger side. There were elements that I keep coming back to (being vague on purpose!), and I found it less about the tea party and more about the elaborate journey through each room. The experience ended on a particularly beautiful note. I'd quantify the The Haunted Doll House as the bright side of spooky -- finding humor and magic in the metaphysical. read more

For someone who has loved the landscape and beauty that is San Francisco ever since my first visit over two decades ago, someone who continued to return time and time again, so much so that she made the move just this year, witnessing Gregangelo's was an unbelievable treat. This review may be difficult to piece together, because truly there are no words to describe the experiences meant for your senses, ones we are aware of and ones that perhaps take some digging to activate. The installations are separated by rooms and various areas of the house. They capture the vision and translation of local artists, while painting pictures of not only San Francisco's rich history or interpretations, but guides us to ponder hidden thoughts about the walks of life. The passion for the history, the arts, and just this wonderous wild flare only San Francisco knows... radiates intensely from the Gregangelo team, and I hope Gregangelo's continues to see the support it deserves. It is quite an impressive and sensational ride, and for those who desire more, a step in your spiritual journey. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to visit with an awesome group (what a lucky stroke!), and intend to come back, seeing more of their creations, continuing my adventure with this resilient city, and celebrating its history and future. I met Greg Angelo at a networking event at the Bridgeyard and he graciously invited me to check out the "museum" I wasn't sure what to expect so I invited my friend along and we got to share lunch with the staff. It demonstrated how the place operates, everyone chips in and they value the time they share with people. The tour guide told us we would be given the short version of the place, just under an hour. It's unlike any other museum you may have been to because the art is created by people who have come to visit over the years and is an ongoing evolving display. Each room is themed based on past, present and future. You may leave with more questions than you came with. Words cannot begin to describe this wonderful, zany, eclectic museum which one would never know is located in the St. Francis Woods neighborhood. My visual senses were in complete awe of the evening that my wife, son and I experienced seeing Jade the Magician. This was the second time seeing Jade's performance with the first one being probably 7 years ago in a avant-garde bar/theater for small performances. Greg Angelo and his host of costumed performers delighted us throughout the evening with Jade's performance being the main event. This museum is actually a residence where Greg continues to evolve each room in the house with even the bathroom which is not spared in terms of normalcy. I highly recommend attending a performance if it is here as he hosts various local performers and artists. Definitely recommend seeing Jade wherever she is performing and i guarantee you will get your moneys worth. Thank you Greg for allowing us to experience a truly magnificent Winter Solstice and to Jade for presenting new acts which we did not see the first time. read more

Errrrrm. This place is weird. I love art, but let's get something straight: this is not a museum. It's some guy's house. The owner apparently grew up there, so it's actually his *parent's* house. Note that he is a self-proclaimed actor and artist, not a famous person. (His only fame is turning his house into a museum). He has painted the rooms of his house all sorts of delightfully wonky colors, including sparkly gold. The walls are adorned with sculptures and paintings. Many of them are his OWN paintings, nearly all of which, of course, feature images of himself. Much of the art in the house has been contributed by other artists, and apparently a variety of local artists hang out here and bedazzle the walls. Which is absolutely lovely, but the marketing is just a bit misleading, as other Yelpers have noted. Looking at photos of this place would be just as good, and they cost a lot less. This guy is also an egomaniac. He has quotes of things HE SAYS framed everywhere. Dude, you're quote-able because you painted your living room purple? Oooook. I honestly rolled my eyes the entire time. This guy thinks his home should be a museum, that his self-portraits should be framed, and that everything he says is worth quoting?? Mmmm, no. To be clear -- it is LOVELY to have a community-member-artist who supports other artists and wants you to join in his love of his own art and his own image. But charging $45 for a stroll through colorful rooms is a total rip-off. Howeverrrrr, if you're into expensive house-tours and want to have an "immersive experience" in a dude's living room, this is the place for you. read more

This experience is located in a very unassuming yet gorgeous suburban neighborhood 7 miles outside of downtown San Fran. Uber took 25 min each way ($25) plus the cost of the ticket. More of an experience than a museum, we were guided by a facilitator, along with another couple, through 4-5 rooms of the house as we shared our observations (both external and internal) along the way. Think of this as a guided escape room on imagination steroids with a bit of 'self-discovery' sprinkled in. The only option offered during our visit was 'Down the Rabbit Hole'. Our facilitator was just lovely and did a great job of keeping us each engaged. The imagination infused into every aspect of the house: the experience, decor, the storyline, costumes and concept is beyond impressive! A one-of-a-kind experience. I've given 4 stars as was a tad disappointed that we were only guided through a handful of rooms and not allowed ANY opportunity to take photos or have photos taken... Phones were to be tucked away as-to remain present so that is good but, in my opinion, an opportunity was missed to infuse photo opportunities as part of the overall adventure. That being said - a great activity and one well worth planning into your visit-if you are looking for something fun and unique to do. read more

Ever since I saw Netflix's Amazing Interior introduced this museum, I've tried to find the time to visit this hidden gem in San Francisco. Finally I was able to grab my mom and sister to come with me. It's such fun and in a way a very therapeutic experience. Each room with a different theme design was truly candies to my eyes. Unfortunately, it's a no from me. I was quite excited to visit the Gregangelo Museum, but the 'Into the Rabbit Hole' tour turned out to be quite cheesy. What could have been done in 10 minutes stretched into a 90-minute tour. By the end, we consoled ourselves with the fact that we supported the artists who created some of the artworks. Throughout the tour, we couldn't help but wonder if we had mistakenly booked the kids' tour. read more

I Just checked this place out with my brother yesterday, and to be honest, I wasn't impressed. Throughout the tour, the guide will ask you life questions in each room and will expect an answer from each person from your group. I guess this is ok, but I felt it became more like a group therapy session than a tour. I feel they should concentrate more on the history of the house and the owner. Furthermore, I also think the art around the home was ok, nothing too incredible. Be aware there are no pictures allowed or public restrooms. What's up with that? I would recommend you check out other fascinating museums around the Bay (legion of honor) and save your hard-earned money. read more

We came back in October for the Halloween-appropriate House of Weird A Halloween Immersive Experience. It is a rather short tour, about 20 minutes. We absolutely loved the experience. There were, I think, nine performers performing singly or in pairs. One was a greeter and a second was the tour guide. All were in costume. My partner and I were the only ones in our group. It was amazing to have such a large and talented crew devoted to entertaining us. We look forward to enjoying future shows at the Gregangelo Museum. read more

I was there with the kids (5 & 8) for the Enchanted Fairy tour. They loved it. We were guided through the house by an enchanted fairy who was engaging, funny, and had lots fun magical surprises. Came here for the Asian New Year celebration. This place is so different and unlike any other place in San Francisco. This is located in St. Francis Woods of all places. Amazing artistic place with so many varieties of themes with deep meaning. All the rooms are different. The tour guide is a great human being. You feel human after you tour this work of art. "OK" about sums it up for me. I wanted to like it more, but it's hard to come out of it feeling like it was worth the steep $75-per-person price. Our tour moved slowly through 5 or 6 small rooms on the main level of the house. In each room, we paused to take in the owner's amassment of interesting clutter, and the guide read some sort of poem or riddle and prompted each of us to respond by sharing something personal, like our greatest fear or wish. We were given little to no history of the circus, the house, or even Greg Angelo himself. I liked our guide and think she did well with the material she had. Perhaps if they charged less or provided a more comprehensive tour, it could be worth it. Oh, and a warning: they don't provide their guests with bathroom access (not a very friendly policy for soon-to-be or recent mothers, or really anyone who had to travel to be there). read more

So... Where do I start?! I knew absolutely nothing upon entering The Gregangelo Museum, and that is exactly how you should approach this mystical, magical, soul searching experience as well. I was in San Francisco for work, along with a few coworkers who I hadn't even met yet, and decided that this would be something interesting to do while in the city. The three of us met at the house, yes it is in a residential house, all unsure what we were about to encounter. We were greeted by Chris, our funny, kind, and amazing tour guide, who immediately tore all metaphorical walls down between us. We were immediately sharing things about ourselves that we admitted we haven't shared with some of our closest friends. It was very strange but in the most comfortable way, if that make sense? The entire experience was weird and wonderful and, if I may say, VERY San Francisco. And I do think that I would call this a must-see while in the city. I've never been part of anything like it and can't see finding anything like it ever again. Truly a one of a kind experience in everything that it offers. The beautiful and bizarre house or "museum" will be the least interesting thing about this tour when you're all said and done. I will say that it is a very big time commitment. Make sure you have anywhere between 3-5hrs. Tell Chris if you have to be own your way at a certain time, he'll make sure that the tour works for you and you aren't rushed nor do you miss anything. Sorry if this review gives nothing away but, like I said, you should have no idea what you are getting yourself into. And to be honest, I am not sure I would know how to eloquently put this experience into words. read more

This place deserves unlimited stars!! We went on Mothers Day for a Alice in Wonderland Tea party and had a fantastic time - one of the best days EVER! No detail was left out in the eclectic, fun decor, the costumes and skills of the actors/acrobats, the delicious tea/tea ceremony and delectable Malaysian fare. The most memorable part of the day was the thought provoking interactive experience that was provided throughout the day. My only regret is that we didn't have time to experience all of the rooms. We will certainly be back and spread the word just how wonderful and FUN this place truly is. We need more venues like this in the universe. read more

What an otherworldly experience! I'll try not to spoil any of the (many) surprises of the experience, but still I want to scream...you NEED to treat yourself with a visit to Gregangelo's when in San Francisco! The house itself is a fascinating visual awakening. Even if you could (you can't) roam by yourself from its entrance hall to the several esthetically perfect rooms -- including trippy bathrooms & cozy balconies -- through draping curtains, secret doors and narrow passages, it would still be a memorable evening. It's Gregangelo himself, though, with his insightful spirit and his warmest hospitality talent, who generously gives you an emotional map of this intense Alice-in-Wonderland surroundings. He never lectures you or hands out ready to consume info. With a sincere dialogue between him and with your fellow guests of the day, you might find inside you a few ideas, fears & dreams you had forgotten are there. Gregangelo's deep knowledge of every single piece of the art around you, the artists, and the evolution of the house (yes, it's an alive organism and it's still transforming) is unlimited. I'd happily go back, as I'm sure the experience will be a whole new one, with different co-guests, focusing on different parts of each room, digging around different areas of my soul. I wish I could get my money back. I took a tour because of the high ratings on Google, Yelp and Trip Advisor. The old adage "don't believe everything you read" definitely makes sense here. I literally feel scammed. This tour could've lasted just 10 minutes, but was lengthened because it included questions & discussions, like "would it be worth $5M to have your dream job?" Before you sign up, just know this may not be what you expect. I'm writing this because all I see are positive reviews and, to me, they are misleading and do not provide a comprehensive picture of the experience. There are so many incredible museums and curated experiences in the Bay -- spend your time at them instead. Was the house cool to look at? Yes. You can look at photos online -- that's what I would've done had I known what I know now. Would I go back or bring my relatives? No. read more

Escape your thoughts; engage your heart. It is difficult to describe this private experience that brings you closer to our shared humanity. We are tiny, lonely, meaningless bits of matter in an enormous spacious universe. As our lives begin to revolve around acquiring things and displaying ourselves successfully to peers (and receiving those delicious "likes"), we get a little bit less happy. We can build a bridge to greater contentment and happiness through loving each other and understanding our place in the universe a little bit more. This place is a hidden gem and totally worth checking out. I brought my husband here for our anniversary hoping he would be open minded. To my surprise he had a great time! Our main tour guide (more like a story teller), Chris, was so awesome. This place is not just a bunch of interesting rooms, but each room has a story and the purpose is to evoke personally connection within yourself and others. There was some cool card tricks involved and nice treats. We did get to meet THE Gregangelo himself- amazing guy! This place will allow you to feel connected again while also making you forget about your phone. This place made me feel like a kid yet also mature adult. Come with no expectations and just have fun with it. It was pretty awesome! Do get the full tour though, worth the extra bucks. Have fun! read more
