Coffee is good, I do enjoy a good cup of coffee. Don't care for pastries. Lack flavor. Sweet is not a flavor.

The coffees are overwhelming sweet and have little to no flavor. Baked good leave a lot to be desired, will never go back.

Yesterday, I needed to run to Athens from Ripley WV for an errand and my son said HEY since we…read morehave a little extra time, can we try McHappys Bake Shoppe? I said "Of Course!!" Thinking to myself, what woman is gonna turn down Donuts??? My 2yr old grandbaby starts chanting Donuts Donuts with her Uncle...40 yr old Uncle We get to McHappys which is very easy to locate, thanks to the signage for directions. Its a cute little brown building with a very eye-pleasing Logo Sign. We go inside (tiny parking lot also) but they do offer a drive-thru! Calliope my 2yr old, her eyes get wide and glassy as her Uncle takes her closer to the showcase. The employee was super friendly! My immediate thought was, this room is bright cheery and smells like Bakery Heaven...I could live here!! I tell her we want 6 Donuts and Calliope chooses first a Cake Donut with Pink Strawberry Icing with Pink & White Sprinkles, I choose 2 Glazed and A chocolate Nut Icing Glazed for my Hubby and my son Chooses a Glaze and for his 2nd a Blueberry Cake Glazed Donut! I was tempted to get a few cookies, whooping Pies and Cupcakes because everything looked so yummy and festive! But I did choose a Canoli and a piece of Baklava! In total it was $19.02 and I left her a tip of $3 in her tip glass! I definitely recommend if you are in the Athens area to swing by. Its located beside Taco John's which we plan on trying next time we are in Athens, Ohio. Thanks for the Yummy Treats McHappys we definitely left very MCHAPPY!!!

The lady working had wonderful customer service. She was very helpful and cheerful when she found out we are new to this shop. We went home with half dozen, muffin and a canoli. She said everything is baked from their bakery and shipped to store. Their donuts are good, fluffy and moist.. all providing a mouth feel and not...dry and sad like a lot of places. My husband loved the canoli. I would highly recommend! Limited variety compared to some, but they are good with that they do have!

Very good donuts!…read more When we walked in it was crowded and had a few people in line. They had a good selection of donuts, both in types and amounts of each. After we walked in, a fire truck pulled up, and the lady stopped helping the line to help the firefighters - although I had kids in the car and was in a hurry - it felt very small town, and that somehow added to the appeal. We got a dozen donuts including blueberry cake, devils food, honey dew, buttermilk, Boston cream, banana cream, cinnamon powdered sugar, strawberry cream, and some other one I can't remember the name of. They were all very tasty! The creams were generous, flavorful and a great texture and the powdered toppings were strong and packed on! My typical go-to are blueberry cake and devils food/chocolate cake, and they were just okay, but the rest were absolutely worth trying! Interestingly, they do a baker's dozen (13 not 12) but the 13th donut is chosen from a separate case with options that are different than the regular donut options and at other places would cost more like cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, specialty long johns, etc. we found that fascinating, as I tried to get one as part of my dozen and they said those are the free ones instead. I don't usually eat sugar, so trying donuts on this vacation was a big stretch for me, but these were absolutely worth it! If you're ever in the area and want a treat that's both authentic and tasty, Jolly Pirates is the place to try!

We stopped into Spring Hill Pastry Shop during a last-minute overnight trip, and I'm really glad we…read moredid. Everything we tried was soft, fresh, and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. You can tell this is the kind of place that's been doing things the same (and doing them well) for a long time. The prices were also surprisingly great, and had they been listed, I would have purchased a lot more. It's a small, old-school bakery that's clearly been a local favorite for generations, and that charm is part of what makes it special. That said, as first-time visitors, it was a little tough to navigate. Nothing is labeled, no menu, no prices, so we had to ask a few questions and rely on recommendations. Maybe it was just a busy Saturday morning, but the young woman helping us didn't seem thrilled that I was taking photos and asking about the pastries. I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. Even with that experience, I'd still recommend stopping by. The pastries really are that good, the prices are fair, and it's the kind of nostalgic, old fashioned bakery that's getting harder to find these days.
