Personally, I love this location and have not had any problems with the food or service. Although, sometimes there can be long lines and waits since it's close to a university and bars. This is also because this location isn't too big, but it is always kept clean. The Halal Guys is my number one go to for quick food. I always get the regular combo platter. For the most part, everything is cooked and seasoned well and you get your food immediately. They are generous with the meat portions which I love. You truly get your money's worth in my opinion. Whenever I'm super hungry or after a night out this is the place I'll go. The manager at this location is also super friendly, and the staff is always professional. Ordering on the app is nice for the points but they're hit or miss with special requests (lettuce and tomato on the side). Like other restaurants, ordering in person is always best (more accurate and more generous). I usually get the chicken platter with only lettuce and tomato and sauce on the side. Rice and chicken are seasoned well. They used to have a spicy hummus, which was actually spicy and delicious. I got their fries once and they're good and hold up well to time- not instantly soggy. Love that we have one of these so close to home. It will never be as good as the original cart in NYC, but lets be real, these are much cleaner and way more convenient to get to! Went to this location about 11:30pm on a Saturday. It's posted that it's open until 1am. Two people were inside, one cleaning and the other stocking the refrigerator. I knocked because the door was locked, they ignored me and kept going on about their business as if I wasn't there. One guy behind the counter told the other one I was there and he pointed to me, and he ignored me and must've told the other one to do the same because he went back to doing what he was doing and then sat down facing me when he was done. Honestly, the food here has never LOOKED super appetizing to me, but once I tried it, I was a fan. I've only ever tried the beef and chicken platter (more like a bowl). I like to add hummus to mine, it gives it some more moisture. Otherwise the bowl can be a little on the dry side. The white sauce is very good and the hot sauce is good too but very spicy (for me), so my advice would be to use it sparingly across the bowl. Fast and friendly service, and my goodness is this one clean too. That alone makes me even more enthusiastic, to return and dine on their delicious foods. The chicken platter is my usual, but occasionally I'll go with the beef one. Both are exceptional. Along with salad, vegetables, and white sauce it's quite healthy. Do be careful with the hot sauce though. If your first time, one or two stripes max. Good sides too, but I'm content with the fresh meats and vegetables. Halal Guys in University Mall, Fairfax stands out as one of my few favorites. The basics, of course, is that the place is very clean, a bit small, but ample for seating and small groups. Large windows offer light. They've added basic outdoor seating. I like every staff member I have met, who all greet me when entering. They are friendly, smiles, warm greetings. The food is very good. It's protein, rice, lettuce, and tomatoes, add onions and green pepper, other items optional, with Mediteranean/ maybe Egyptian mild spices. They offer a HOT version by adding their special sauce - I take 7 strips. I appreciate that their portions are ample. They are open to accommodate special requests. They have optional desserts. I get the sense that the restaurant appreciates their customers and they work hard at making me, the customer, feel important and welcome. I continue to be a regular customer. I have looked at other Halal-like restaurants, and find none that meet the high standards that I now have from my experience with this one store. read more

My first visit ever . I wanted a fresh gyro I have seen many ads about the new york place . First the wasn't any meat on the meat spits or cooker . Everything was served like a cafeteria . The meat was ok - needs seasoning- too much salad and white sauce was not as good as tzazaki and too much of it .When I opened my sandwich the big wave of topping fell down looking like cole slaw . Got it from DoorDash. It was my first time having Halal Guys. This is pretty good stuff. I got the chicken bowl. My one complaint is that I'd enjoy more variety in the toppings. It was also supposed to come with tomatoes and it didn't. I got the large and it didn't seem that big. The chicken, rice and Pita was all pretty good. The lettuce was fresh enough but just iceberg. I was so excited when I opened my yelp and found out I lived near a halal guys! I had them in New York and the line was super long, probably stretching a block. So I was excited when I walked in to the store and the line wasn't too long. At the store they have a lot of more variety on their menu. In addition to what they normally offer they also offer hummus, fries, and baba ganouj. I got the combo platter, with spicy hummus a lot of white sauce and bbq sauce. The spicy hummus was really spicy, almost as spicy as their hot sauce. So I would recommend avoiding the spicy hummus and go with the regular hummus. As for the platter, it tasted similar to the halal guys cart I had in New York, but it wasn't as good of quality. The meat was a little too salty, but thankfully I got a lot of sauce to mask some of the saltiness. Overall, Halal guys is a pretty good place if you haven't had it before. Every halal guys I've been to thus far has had some sort of issue (other than the OG one in NYC). The first thing I've noticed about THG as a whole though is that their customer service is severely lacking. They're either impatient, mean, condescending, or just downright stupid. Can you really not be bothered to do your jobs and, I dunno, serve the customer the food the want instead of putting up an argument? Seriously, how do they manage to find the only employees that happen to be the biggest buttholes? The second thing--and I'm sure the franchises don't have much say in this--is that they nickel and dime you for everything! Especially as of late. Want one extra white sauce packet? $0.50 ($2 if you ask for it through a delivery app!). A few extra slices of bread? $1.00. Don't want veggies? $1.00 if you want extra roti (rice) to fill up the space. It was $7 at one point for a regular platter and now it's somewhere around $8.50. Significant price hike in just a year! And the third thing--the food quality is so inconsistent. This branch is no exception. Either the chicken is cut too big (and therefore undercooked or too rubbery), or it's been over cooked and burnt. The veggie cuts are inconsistent. I dunno man, I love THG but I'm gonna start to make it at home more often. The only reason I really come by anymore is for their sauces. read more
