Over the years I have stayed at countless hotels and Airbnb facilities. I have never found a place that offered as much value for the dollar as does 5th on Main in Hopkins, Minnesota. The facilities are brand new having been completely remodeled in 2023. Each studio apartment is furnished with full kitchens. The apartments are spacious, well-designed with excellent storage space and are immaculately clean (which was especially important to me). There is convenient off-street parking and each building has a state-of-the-art security system and laundry facilities. 5th on Main has a fantastic location, just a 2-minute walk from the Historic Hopkins downtown area. Tyra, who is the leasing agent for this property went above and beyond answering questions, sharing details of the amenities included and policies of the property. She was also very outgoing and friendly and made us feel at home. It's also wonderful to know there is an underground garage that is actually included with the apartment. No additional price like so many other places we looked at. Every apartment has their own full size washer and dryer which makes it so handy. No quarters needed lol! I'm very happy with my daughter's choice in this apartment as it is a secured building, safety is taken seriously at this property and we respect this. One bedroom apartment with den is very spacious and the large balcony is an added plus. Oh, and it has a wood burning fireplace! I recommend you take a look at Brier Creeks Apartments Minnetonka when looking for your next home. Sure, there are fancier places, but for a lot more money and much smaller too. Check them out!

I knew in the fall…read moreof 2021 that I would be moving to Minnesota, so I flew into Minneapolis in November of that year to start looking around. I had five or six apartment complexes on my list of buildings to tour, and when all was said and done, The Laurel was one of only two apartment complexes that I liked well enough to even think about renting. In January 2022, a one-bedroom became available at The Laurel, and I grabbed it. I'd been hoping for a two-bedroom, two bath, but I had to get my foot in the door and I figured I could always move into a two-bedroom when one became available. To tell you the truth, though, the apartments here at The Laurel are so very spacious that I've found a one-bedroom to be more than ample for me. I haven't met everyone yet, but everyone I've met so far is delightful, and so are Tony (the manager) and Adam (the assistant manager). It was Adam who gave me the tour of the grounds last November, and I have to say that he was an invaluable help to me, as I was relocating from out-of-state. Computers are not my strong suit and not everyone would have had the patience to walk me through one online necessity after another in the way that Adam did. He persevered without complaining and I so appreciated that. Thank you, Adam! :) This is the first apartment I've lived in in ages, and before I moved into The Laurel, I assumed I'd live here for a while and then, buy a property nearby in which to live. I guess I thought that because that's what I've been doing for decades, but I'm having a change of heart and could see myself living here forever. The complex is clean, quiet, and very well-maintained; and the amenities, while not exhaustive, are really very nice. I see the amenities as quality over quantity. To sum it up, I can't imagine giving The Laurel anything less than 5 stars, and if I could, I'd give management and the grounds even more than that. It sounds like he…read morewas living in one of the corner units, and I do recall being told those share heating with the rest of the building. So the additional charge makes sense. That all said, this demonstrates the downward spiral this property has suffered under the management by Weidner. I'm not surprised our friend Ron didn't know about the extra gas charge because Weidner clearly doesn't know their own building that they bought! Whoever that representative is from Weidner that replied to his review is outright lying about the history of the building, the smoking policy, and I am extremely skeptical that they conduct daily walks of the property. Having actually lived here for several years, I can share the history of the building. The original property management company was Sidal, and the manager was Heather. She was absolutely fantastic and did an amazing job in maintaining the community. For example, on a snowy night after business hours, you would see her outside shoveling the snow for the parking ramp herself even though they had a maintenance team that does that. For another example, before the package lockers, she would go around and deliver packages to all residents. She always demonstrated how much she cared about the community and was always thoughtful. It used to be a pet-free community, and it was always just a quiet community. It was ALWAYS a smoke-free community, so I find it unprofessional, bold, and libelous a Weidner employee would claim something provably and categorically false. What went wrong was when Weidner came in to buy the property around 2020/2021. It seemed like about every 2 years, we got new managers. They churned through a handful of managers who were callous and failed to communicate changes since they acquired Gallery Flats. For example, the pet-free community suddenly accepted pets; no mercy for anybody that might have lived here to avoid pet allergies. There previously was no infrastructure for pets, so it's not surprising residents would find pet waste all over the complex. Just one thing Weidner completely mishandled. I am extremely skeptical there are any regular building checks by the management. For example, there was a leaky pipe in the parking ramp, but that took several days before it got handled and repaired. On top of that, they never once communicated that to the residents. Another example is that they've only recently been sending emails warning vehicles that they're getting towed in the guest lot, which is cute, because it's not a secret that cars have been taking up those guest spaces, and nobody's ever done anything about them for years. And for one last example, there was a time where the building was smelling pungent, so they left a window or two open in one of the stairwells. But they never thought to close those windows for like months. I wasn't going to do their job for them either, but clearly they don't check their own property if open windows are getting overlooked. So just another thing they happened to overlook or outright aren't checking the building for. I will say they are prompt about maintenance for individual apartments, and Austin deserves credit for that. But only Austin deserves the credit, not Weidner. Ron is right in that the carpets are dingy and gross. They certainly haven't been shampooed recently, but it speaks to how poorly they maintain anything outside of your individual apartment. They used to vacuum weekly, but they cut back on that too since 2020. There used to be a larger maintenance and cleaning staff, but I think Austin might be the only one working these days. Interestingly, Kimberly, the manager that was here through 2023 and that Ron mentioned, got promoted by Weidner. I think that speaks to how a terrible job by their own employees gets rewarded. I don't blame them when their employer has such low standards and is incompetent though. This property is hopeless under Weidner. They should just fire their leadership and hand over the property to competent owners. You've got plenty of better options in Downton Hopkins. Just don't rent from here.

I am glad to say that my stay at Gallery Flats is over, the management here is terrible, Kimberly…read morethe Community Manager is rude and dismissive and does not care about the residents at all. The rent keeps increasing year over year and they have no amenities, a gym with little and outdated equipment that is about it. And watch out for the Gas charges that they throw into the monthly utilities you pay them with Water, Sewer and Trash and do not tell you about, expect an additional $85 gas charge monthly in the winter for the common area gas in the building that no one tells you about and you do not control. Also, the carpets in the building have not been shampooed in ages they are covered in stains and look disgusting. The tenants here are slobs and leave their trash everywhere and are no considerate of their neighbors. Also, the walls are super thin and you can hear your neighbors conversations and arguments. You will also get emails constantly threatening you as a tenant that you will get fined if you smoke near the building, your dog poops and you do not clean it up (well their is dog poop all over the complex outside so clearly no one is getting fined). Believe me you can go rent elsewhere, pay less rent, have more amenities, have a nice staff who actually care about the residents and not have no additional monthly charges sprung on you that no one tells you about. If you wonder why they have so many units available and people constantly moving out now you know why. Stay far far away from this complex and the management you can do better living elsewhere and pay less rent. I mean clearly look at the response below... only addressing what they feel is important, I have lived in this complex for 5 years and have now moved out and they cannot find me in their system? Not that I would welcome a phone call from Kimberly who has rolled her eyes at me when I have tried to address things in the office. If they truly walked the complex (which they do not I have never seen Kimberly leave the chair in the rental office) they would notice all of the furniture left out back on the buildings (both buildings) on the daily as people continue to move out due to increased rent, no amenities, now charging for gas for the entire building that is more than your Center Pointe Bill for your own unit monthly. This place is pretty sad and their trying to save face with their replies that are dishonest. Seriously head the warning and live elsewhere Weidner is only about making money off residents and not caring for residents.
