It is situated at the back of the Corbie Inn pub and owned by a very friendly Gent called Stuart. Having finished his brewing for the day, he was happy to take the time to show us the setup and talk through both the history of brewing in the area and the process he follows today. They currently produce three regular ales and the odd special edition now & again. I can thoroughly recommend a visit and indeed Stuart told me that they frequently organise private events at the brewery. For example, they have a classic car owners club visiting shortly who will spend the whole day there brewing their very own beer to a recipe of their choosing. They'll be up early to start the process and have meals in the pub throughout the day. Once created they'll leave their beer to finish and be back in a few weeks to collect it to take home. Sounds like a fantastic event to me. Their current regular brews are; Kincardine Sunset - a hoppy, slightly citrus tasting ale which would probably also appeal to lager drinkers being a little more "bubbly" than the others. I really enjoyed the Pennvael Amber named after the end of the nearby Roman Wall. Made with Czech hops it has a lovely, refreshing taste. My personal favourite, however, is the Caer Edin Dark Ale. This has a delightful treacle / molasses taste and is well described as, "An old Scottish Light with a taste of Ireland". At least one of the regular ales is served in the pub on draught and you can also purchase it in bottles, casks or a 35 pint steel container designed for easy use at parties etc. We'll be heading back for the latter to help enhance some family celebrations next month!

The prices are very reasonable and you can pick up a ready made bunch of flowers or you can design your own bouquet. Whether it's a single bunch or a large supply of blooms for a wedding, even or special occasion, they can cater for you at Garlands.

The first thing you'll notice while walking past is the aroma, it literally stops you in your tracks and draws you in. There isn't a cleaner smell than freshly cut flowers (except maybe bleach or dulux paint). I don't know alot about flowers, but I do know how expensive they can be. For being in such a central location, the price for a good arrangement is very cheap. The staff also don't correct/ treat you like an idiot when you say things like "Gimmie a few of those pink ones". The arrangements aren't over the top and won't look out of place in your living room like some flowers do. To end on a down note, they also do a very tasteful collection of funeral flowers.

I love that they are a local small business and every time I see a post from them I immediately get "heart eyes." I wish I could visit their shop in person because it looks breathtaking, and I'd also love to take some of their beginning classes in floristry. Fiona was our florist for our wedding, and I will mostly just let the photos of her work speak for themselves. Absolutely breathtaking. I requested a colorful bouquet with a lot of texture, scottish thistle boutonnieres, lantern centerpieces, and a beautiful flower shop style setting for our ceremony. Fiona delivered and then some. I think flowers in the UK are just better and of more variety than in the US, and the eye for floral artistry is just infinitely better. I showed Fiona a photo of a tropical bouquet (my original wedding was tropical.. it's a long story) that was my dream bouquet. It had a lot of color and some beautiful trailing ribbons. Fiona ordered the most amazing hand-dyed silk ribbons from Heirloom Silk Ribbons.. they added such a wonderful boho touch to my bouquet, and made the bouquet just that much more special. I personally have an obsession with attention to detail, and Fiona's attention to detail was just so incredible. To top it off, there was a mishap with the original geometric terrariums she had planned to use for my centerpiece, and while I was completely fine with the suggested changes, she went over the top and made even larger, more extravagant centerpieces for me to make up for it. Oh my gosh.. they were just so stunning. I originally was going to go minimal on the flowers because they can be so expensive, but I found even these high end florals from Narcissus to be so affordable and absolutely worth every penny. My husband was skeptical, as a man who doesn't fully understand the draw of flowers.. but when he saw what Narcissus created for us, he knew that every detail and every penny was absolutely worth it and then some. I think in the US, flowers such as these would have been 2 or 3 times the price, and would have come along with some pretty rude service. I cannot recommend Narcissus flowers highly enough. Stunning is the best word I can use to describe Narcissus. They are truly a one-of-a-kind shop, and when I see what they are posting it instantly makes me feel good. That's what flowers should be- they of course don't last forever, but that feeling they give you when you are admiring their beauty is absolutely worth it. Flowers, especially of this high caliber, just bring pure joy and beauty.

We had broken up before I moved to Edinburgh but he didn't take it too well. Anyway, I hadn't heard from him in a few weeks so I thought he had moved on...until I got a phonecall telling me I had a package at reception. It was an empty vase and a single red rose. The card just said 'it's a' . I was totally confused...but low and behold the next day I got another phonecall, another package. Another rose...this time the card said 'new year' . Ok, so I was beginning to get it. Every day for a fortnight I got a rose with more words on it, concluding to 'it's a new year, so let's try a new start? meet me at the witchery, sunday 9pm' . Cute , huh!! I was totally impressed with Interflora though, they were extremely professional and their customer service was brilliant. They knew that the overall message was - since they were sending it every day, but still enjoyed it alongside me. They were absolutely brilliant. You'll be glad to know I did go and meet my ex at the witchery and we did have a lovely meal. However, I told him we were never going to be together since he had slept with a married woman while we were together. All's fair in love and war.

Prices too were to my liking, with plants beginning at £1.99, climbing to £16.99; not bad at all considering the variety and range. Inside was a similar story, but most of these displats were examples of made to order displays, also reasonable priced. The staff were helpful and friendly and made decding on a style in my price range easy as pie! In addition to the bouquets and and plants, Williamson's also sells beautiful garden ornaments, mirrors, hanging baskets as well as a multitude of other items to fulfill your every gardening whim!

As I did leave it to Xmas eve due to work commitments to make a purchase, the shop was very busy to bursting point with pre-order customers and Janet still had flowers to spare!
