When we walked in, it was as if we walked into Cheers' bar where the locals look at the strangers walking in LOL No one was around, so we just sat at a table, and a waitress came with the menu a couple of mins later. Hubby loves Guinness, and they had it on tap, so he was happy We ordered: Bang Bang Shrimp - it was not good... it was just mayo covered slightly fried shrimp. French Onion Soup - it was good but not much onion, and it didn't taste like beef stock. It was also a lighter color, I wonder if it was turkey or pork broth. Grilled Cheese with Prosciutto - this was good. B.L.A.T. - bacon lettuce avocado and tomato - it was ok, not enough bacon, though... All tables and chairs are high seats, and the bathroom has steps. Before heading home we decided to grab some food here. Drinks to start, Angry orcher & High noon tea both good. Appetizers we tried the Ginger Garlic ribs , this was more like short rib pieces which were very good, very flavorful. On the food, The Jersey cheese steak & Chicken parm hero both sandwiches were decent the Jersey cheese steak may be better if they added regular cheese versus like cheese wiz which is what the cheese tasted like, it worked but am just not a fan of type of cheese. The fucking people who have gluten free allergies need to stop ordering beer and depending on the bartenders/servers/staff to be medical professionals. Will return a million times . I visited here on a Saturday afternoon with my partner. There were very few people when we arrived. We sat by the bar. We ordered the Heights Trio for appetizer, chipotle chicken wrap, and I forget what we ordered. The appetizer came out fairly quickly. I enjoyed my chipotle chicken wrap but unfortunately, my partner didn't find his meal to be flavorful at all. I must say though.. the fries were a definite no no. We also had drinks which were pretty good. They had a like 'special menu' but I only saw them after. It was on the TV by the bar which wasn't really easy to see and the screen changed fairly quickly. These should be either put online or distributed along with the regular menu. I saw on the screens they also have a brunch menu but it's during a certain time frame on Sundays. The bar is pretty dark but it isn't too loud. They had sports playing on the TVs. The service was ok. It's definitely one of those town bars that people go to regularly. The bartender/waitress was having full blown conversations with people and at times it was hard to get her attention. Luckily, the waitress taking care of those at tables came behind the bar a few times to grab something and she attended to us too if we needed something. I also found it pretty pricey we were a little surprised when we received the bill. Overall it was an OK experience. Food was OK. The garlic hummus was good (extremely small portion) and was served with pita chips and a big bowl of Mediterranean olives (which I really appreciated). The Soba noodles dish was ok- I had it served with the shrimp on the side. It had a peanut sauce which got pretty thick as it sat. I really like the place itself, and our waitress, who was also the bartender, was very nice- we went on an off time, so while there were a few people at the bar, we were the only ones eating at a booth. We wanted to ask and see what might be safe like pasta or pizza. We were not given access to the kitchen We told the person about our allergies and they said you should not eat here. I used to go to The Heights Bar And Grill quite frequently many years ago when it was in one of its previous incarnations, so it had been a LONG time coming to revisit this Hasbrouck Heights landmark. I was pleasantly surprised at the little decorative touches that have freshened up the place since my last visit. The wall decor of shelves above the comfy booths around the perimeter held up by angled pipes is a nice touch. Overall, you won't find the overbearing barrage of trivial nicknacks and trinkets hanging from the walls that some bars and restaurants can't seem to resist doing. There are also plenty of high standing tables, and the center bar has ample seating with surrounding open space for large groups. There is also a nice-sized back room where some sort of party was going on. Televisions with games were on, and (again) their layout is tastefully done without that overabundant assault on your senses that some sports bars hit you with. The place was developing a decent crowd of what seemed like a mix of regulars and newbies on an early Saturday afternoon. My guess is that the previous closings of the nearby Houlihan's and (before that) T.G.I. Fridays since the pandemic could only be a good thing for this establishment, and (literally) more power to the local Heights Bar And Grill if indeed it has!!! The menu has changed DRAMATICALLY over the years, and it had many unique and interesting items I had not seen there in the past (or anywhere else, for that matter). This particular lunch with a friend called for a restraint from my normal gluttony, so we were keeping it simple. But items like the bacon wrapped meatballs and goat cheese fritters (among others) sounded enticing enough for a future return to try. The service we got from Carlos was much appreciated; as my friend and I had some catching up to do, and he was friendly and patient and helpful as we BS'ed our way through a first round of drinks. He was very attentive and genuinely engaging, adding to the pleasant overall vibe. We ordered the garlic hummus for an appetizer, and it was fresh AND PERFECTLY GARLICKY. It came with toasted pitas and a small bowl of (Spanish green and Greek black calamata) olives. Everyone "in the know" knows that nothing you can buy in a market even approaches a fresh-made, done-right hummus. (This was...) As mentioned, we were keeping it simple... So, we both ordered cheeseburgers. My friend got the Blue (medium) and I got the Pub (rare). They came perfectly prepared quickly on a fresh brioche bun, with fries and pickles on the side. The meat was definitely fresh... Juicy and delicious. My burger had herbs mixed inside the patty. YUM! The pickles didn't seem like they came from a store-bought jar, which was nice, but the fries were a bit soggy and limp for me. They could have used a good second fry before serving, which would be my only critique. I thought that the price point for food and drinks were very fair for what we ordered, and for the other menu items we didn't try (based on their descriptions). Where do I begin? If you're looking for a place to hangout and have a couple drinks and apps then this is your local spot! The drinks here are great and get the job done. Definitely worth every penny! The inside looks like a pub with a big square bar right in the middle with a table and seating surrounding it. Their menu is pretty big and they have many things to choose from. It's typical American food with burgers, sandwiches, salads, and grill cheese options. Everything I have tried so far has been great! I don't think they have a parking lot to park in but there is street parking available. They also offer indoor and outdoor seating in the warmer months. Finally got to try this place, which had caught my eye for a while. Once we got over a little bit of an issue about seating, the service was good. The decor of the place is pretty good. The menu has a lot of choices, and the portions are good. I had a bar pie that just wasn't particularly impressive though, and what honestly knocked my review down to three stars is that to me, the place smelled, like... unappetizingly so. I'm obsessed with this place. Everything is just so good. First off, the workers are super friendly. Drinks are made well. The food menu has so many options. So for the appetizers - the nachos, wings, app sampler, skins, French fries, Cesar salad and mozzarella sticks are all so so good!! Entrees - the Blat sandwich, buffalo chicken wrap, chicken tenders and the bacon Mac & cheese are delicious! Can never go wrong with picking out one of those entrees. Iv been coming here for a while and iv never been disappointed. Now I love honey mustard and I'm very picky on which ones I like but this place has the best honey mustard of all time! Ask for a side of it - you won't be disappointed. For dessert, can't go wrong the fried Oreos. 10/10 !! Great food. Outdoor/indoor seating is available. Prices are reasonable. Extremely disappointed with the service. Told it was happy hour and multiple times the waitress disregarded our inquiries. The food was decent, however our waitress was terrible. Apps were buy one get one 1/2 off and she still charged full price. Beers were 3$ off for domestic and she stated Blue Moon was Domestic multiple times. Never going back. This place!!!!!! I'm so glad I came across it. Best food I've had in a long time. From their wide selection of apps to their gourmet grilled cheeses. For apps we ordered the avocado stack and the Asian steak egg rolls. They were both amazing! We also ordered the poached pear and goat cheese and jalapeño and cream cheese grilled cheeses with a side order of Mac. I was blown away at the combination of flavors. Had lunch here today. Outside service only. Loved this place. Our server absolutely made sure we had our masks on and that we used hand sanitizer both inbound and leaving the restaurant. Our servers attentiveness was outstanding and she really made a difference in our lunch. Definitely at the top of her game (she had white hair and I didn't catch her name, she just plain did a great job). I had a grilled cheese with brie and fresh pears. This sandwich and fries just plain kicked ass. Very unique and great flavor. Never had a grilled cheese like that. The menu is substantial and the rest of my party really liked the food as well. Came here with my family after a rough day not expecting much. Our server came over immediately with menus and a smile and instantly changed the vibe of our evening. She welcomed us instantly and guided us through the drink and food menus. Just tried this place on a whim! Glad I stumbled across it. Immediately upon entering we were greeted with friendly faces from the staff. It is a bar, so expect a laid back, seat yourself casual atmosphere. They have a solid beer selection and HUGE menu with additional specials as well. Heights Bar and Grill i've been to many time now, given I live right in town. the place has really fantastic burgers and drink specials during the week. The only reason this place didn't get 4 stars is simply the ambiance and service is very hit or miss. I've been there where the place is packed house, tons of younger adults and older crow enjoying themselves. I've also been there with 1-2 people sitting at the bar no music playing and tv sound off... Lastly, i've been there where it was a little bit in the middle, enough people to create a nice vibe from older crowd to younger crowd; people eating dinner or just grabbing drinks. Some of the waitresses have been on point and some... not so much. Its to inconsistent to give a solid 4 stars but it doesn't deter me from going there every so often for good bar food and solid drink specials. I'd check it out if you're in the area but if you catch em on a bad day, don't let that deter you from trying again. read more

Have you ever heard from people: "Finding my soulmate is the best thing that has ever happened to me" ... well guess what - I found my soulmate burger and hand cut fries at The Heights Bar and Grill. Finally! And this is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I ordered a brewhouse burger with a fried egg (medium rare). The older gentleman promised it in 10 minutes and on the 11th minute, I took a step back and embraces the moment. The first bite was juicy and big! My eyes lit up of the excitement in my mouth. The combo of the Jack Daniel Sauce, mushrooms, onions, provolone cheese - all mingled oh so well. The temperature on the meat was perfect. The size of the meat- perfect (1/2lbs meat). While the service was fairly quick and distant I still feel it was a pleasant environment to sit down and relax. I am actually planning to go to happy hour next week for BOGO Mondays (as told by other yelpers) and get a better feeling of the place and beer options. Updated review forthcoming soon. read more

Dinner tonight was FANTASTIC! we had plans to go somewhere else but the wait was an hour - so we went to the HH grill instead. we have driven by it a hundred times but never stopped- had no clue what we were missing out on. the potato crusted salmon may be the best salmon we've ever had. my steak was cooked perfect - not a great cut of filet- but the cooking and seasoning more then made up for it. the sweet potato fries were awesome - cold beer/cold wine and GREAT service from Kiera!!
