I had been in this area because I live nearby and have been to events around the studios but not inside. It was nice to see that there was parking. The room itself is an open space, which makes it great to decorate or set it up any way you like. At this food awards event, each restaurant and coffee shop were aligned along both sides with their respective booths. Each place had prepared at least 1000 bites/beverages or more for all the guests. It's a foodie lover's dream. You had to wait in some long lines, but most of the production went by quickly because the restaurants had prepped and had a team of at least 2-4 people. It was nice to see a lot of places I've been to or ones that I want to try. I walked around and tried at least 10 of the 22 booths for food and drink. Some ran out of forks. VIP has a small space up front near the door and get to enter at 6 pm while general admission enters at 7 pm. The event ended around 9-9:30 pm. If I go again next year, I'll purchase tickets and bring a friend. Divide and conquer. Lol. It was hard to do because the nominee who invited me had to work at his restaurant's booth. It was really cool to see Chris Shepherd from Eat Like A Local announce the nominees and awards and talk about his Southern Smoke Foundation which benefits those in the industry with mental health and hardship. It'll be nice to see other events in this studio space.

Despite the improvement they have done but it is still not as handicap friendly To enter the building there is a flight of stairs and they did build a ramp from an side entrance. But the ramp to go up inside the building is very steep, if you are in a wheelchair by yourself, it is very difficult to go up or go down without flying down. There are no ramps to go up to the second floor. The restroom on the first floor is not handicap friendly either as there is a step you have to get up to use the restroom and there is no grab bars and the sink and the toilet is so close, it is very tight inside. I love they have convert the classroom to different studio where you can take different class these offer here. I love the events they have here and the class but I wish they will improve on the accessibility for this place.

I came by during Christmas time to meet with Pancho Clause. Him and his helpers used Meca as a place to sort and distribute gifts for the local kids. They also have a huge festival where Pancho Clause sings and dances, and hands out more gifts. It was a fun filled day, and you could see the joy on the faces of the little children.

These works of immersive art are meant to have the viewer experience the sky and the surroundings. Twilight Epiphany Skyscape is located on a pyramid mound of earth. It is interesting to see the light sequence projected on the concrete "roof." The 40 minute light sequence starts 40 minutes before sunrise and 10 minutes before sunset. Climb the stairs to the second level seats or sit inside the pyramid. Or view the show from outside the pyramid. I think that is the better view. Look at the Moody Center for the Arts calendar to take a guided tour to learn more.

I understand how this spot may feel ordinary to some, but between this, Rothko chapel, and Menil, all my aesthetic dreams are answered. Pro tip: This installation requires parking at the Rice Campus, and a short walk so be prepared! If you're visiting someone at Rice, St.Thomas TIRR, or the nearby hospital, it's def worth the stop in.

The second museum was of Victorian architecture and featured some fancy teapots, clothing and instruments. Lastly was the Bible museum which activate the "voice of God" when you entered. Bibles of all sizes and scripts were featured. A historical trail of written scribe to photo copies defined the times and pricing. It was a $5 fee for non-student visitors but was worth it. (Not like $5 is a lot of money, ijs )

While there was a lot to look at, I felt that the exhibit could've been better presented (music anyone?). A changing theme that's relevant to current society would've also been fun. Also, everyone loves interactive exhibits ( how about a hands on section? Or maybe a fun quiz section - doll trivia anyone?). I'm also pretty sure a history student would love to dress up and be a fun docent that can provide some exciting ghost stories about the haunted past. I would almost recommend having this museum at the heritage society downtown instead, to enrich that attraction and get more tourist traffic downtown.
