Beware of this guy, he does not have your best interest at heart. Evan Hoffman is a terrible lawyer. He seemed kind and trustworthy at first, sympathetic to my financial situation, he offered me what at the time seemed like a flexible payment plan to represent me in court for a DUI. While working towards making these payments, I was contacted both by Mr. Hoffman and his multiple assistants incessantly, even harassed if my payments were delayed by a mere couple of hours. Upon the completion of this arrangement, it became extremely difficult to get in touch with him. Having never hired a lawyer before, I had many questions regarding the process. I was under pre-trial release and the conditions of this release were harsh and unreasonable. I pleaded with Mr. Hoffman for an entire year, while he continued to extend my case, to file a motion to release me from pre-trial. He failed to do so, seemed to conveniently "forget". Each and every time I tried to contact this man I was treated like a nuisance by him and his assistants, it was disheartening to say the least. Finally after a year and a half of drug tests, group therapy and AA meetings, all of which could have been avoided if my lawyer had actually done the job I hired him to do, my day in court was here. Evan Hoffman called me the night before to basically inform me there was not much he could do in my defense and to advise me to plead no contest. What a surprise! I was devastated. I told Mr. Hoffman before going in front of the judge that I would plead no contest as long as the state lifted the one year interlock requirement. That was my only request, not to be subjected to the interlock. His exact words were, and I quote verbatim, "It's no big deal, it's just a year, we don't want to spend the whole day in court." This is the part that infuriates me the most: Evan Hoffman tricked me into pleading no contest by lying and telling me the state had agreed to lift the interlock requirement because he didn't want to spend the day in court. I stood before the judge and pled no contest only to find out I had been mislead by my lawyer. It was a horrible experience that has dragged on longer than it had to and cost me twice what it should have because of Evan Hoffman's incompetence. Do yourself a huge favor and DO NOT hire this lawyer. read more

HE TOLD US (or threatened) TO REMOVE THE BAD REVIEW AND HE WOULD HELP MORE WITH OUR CASE. We believed him and he failed. WE ENDED UP FIRING HIM. Don't hire this lawyer!!!!!!!! Hoffman has a office that clearly states...walk ins are welcomed...I did not feel welcomed..when I went to his office because he was not answering his phone for a week or my sons calls from jail he never picks up. His window and website say 24/7 never answers his phone. My son has been in jail for 6 months. Hoffman has not gave us hope or answers. I have been working my ass off making sure things get done. Hoffman didn't do anything. HE HAS A HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. He literally robbed me out of my money..no progress has happened yet. He doesn't care for his clients, he's rude and when I went to ask him some questions after making a payment in his office he didn't want to help and yelled at me to get away. I never dealt with someone so horrible. He almost doesn't seem like a lawyer. Also, this is not a fake person and this is not a "competitor". This is a real customer/client of his. Do not hire this guy...he doesn't care just wants your money. Lazy is a good fit word. Ridiculous how someone is in jail for 6months not sentenced with anything as of yet because of the delay of this Laywer Hoffman. Lazy. Nothing has been done. We are still waiting!! To add on he told the victim why does she want to drop charges for the man in jail..hoffman is suppose to be on our side, and he's saying comments like those. unbelievable...he never even visited my son in jail..when my son asked me to ask the Laywer he responded with.."why? I don't have to go over there". He is never in the courtroom he's always late and not appearing on time and always leaving the court room. He doesn't like when you text or call him but he's always on the phone. I don't get it. It's upsetting for this mans malpractice. Def going to the Florida Bar. Words cannot express how grateful I am to Mr. Hoffman. I can thank him once a day for the rest of my life and it would not be enough. I was wrongly arrested and held no bond. I was recommended to Evan by another inmate who had Mr. Hoffman as his attorney. My family met with Mr. Hoffman after hours and he sat with them until 8:30 in the evening. He made them feel comfortable and was able to get me out of jail and the charges dismissed. I know he has high profile cases but he really took his time and gave me the same dedication he gives to the newsworthy cases. Magistrate master. I cannot say enough great things about Mr. Hoffman. My girlfriend was arrested on a Friday night. I called Mr. Hoffman from on line. Mr. Hoffman answered and we spoke about the case for over 30 minutes. The next day we met at the courthouse for magistrates. The State asked for the case to be held no bond. Mr. Hoffman found a defect on the police report and was able to get her released ROR!!! Three days later he was able to get the case dismissed!!! I had no where to turn and no one that would help. I'm not even from, Florida-people. Police officers were trying to load me up with tickets, for a minor fender bender, in didn't even see me driving, etc. ‍. It was on my property/private parking. I contacted Mr. Hoffman -right away, on a weekend at that. He returned my call-briefly later; that same day. Told me-he would get it taken care of. CASE DISMISSED!! I have to write about the marvelous job Mr. Hoffman did for me on my case. Mr. Hoffman was able to get the State Attorneys office to drop all charges. Not only that he was able to get a family friend out of jail while he was on probation and got rearrested. Do not recommend. Very shady. Will take your money and will not deliver. Very difficult to contact and cares nothing about you as a client. He was hired for a criminal case and was paid over $20k. Total waste of money. Maybe for traffic tickets he can deliver, but as for major cases, do not hire. The negative reviews are correct. read more
