I went here to pick up some supplies for a local property. The place sits near fairlane mall and I found out the traffic can be kind of heavy at times. It was very busy. There are many stores around this location so it can be tough to find. Once i arrived in the store I was greeted and asked if I needed some help. This was really surprising and helpful. Some of these big box stores typically do not ask you if you need help. They were very helpful and pointed me to the right direction for various items. The same service guide that asked me in the first place also asked if I found everything. Great customer service and a breath of fresh air. Rented a towable hole auger for 4 hours last night at the Home Depot on Waverly Road in Lansing, Mi. Towed it behind my truck which went fine accept it was missing a bolt that should have been in place prior to towing. While renting the attendant had to grab various cotter pins off other nearby equipment so I would be able to properly assemble the hole auger when on site. After an hour of usage the engine kept cutting out kept cutting out and was leaking oil from multiple seals at the get go. Machine was an older unit and really needed engine work. It should have been put out to pasture long ago. Anyway, I did the best I could and returned it and told the attendant about the issues. He didn't care. Neither will I when I need another rental from Home Depot. Not happening. read more

This is a great Home Depot. We came here on a Sunday after visiting a Lowe's the day before and leaving empty-handed. I instantly noticed that HD had tons more employees on the floor during a busy weekend afternoon than Lowe's did the day before. A few employees stopped to ask Jacob and I if we needed help, which was appreciated because we had no idea where to look for our DIY wishlist items. HD's prices are comparable to Lowe's but I really like that HD has more people available to assist you if you're lost (which is SO easy at a huge hardware store) or just to say hello. Checkout was a breeze. They had a ton of self-checkout open as well as a couple employees running registers. Once again, I'm rethinking my status as a "Lowe's Girl"... read more

Called customer service and they said I should have known!!!! What kind of BS is that??? They said I could order one and pay to have the guys come out again to get it up. We have used Home Depot multiple times with no issues, however this was our first home delivery item. It has left me so disgusted that I will never set foot inside Home Depot again. My husband went into the Livonia store to order $600 of fencing panels, to be delivered the next Saturday. Our delivery slot was 6am to 8pm. We waited in all day - no delivery. A manager told us that our delivery would be coming from the Allen Park store on Tuesday. No one had thought to tell us about this change. After MUCH discussion it was changed to a 2-6pm delivery on Monday. My husband takes an afternoon off work, and no delivery arrived. He was passed from person to person, left on hold for a rediculous amount of time. "We will call you back" - but didn't. Eventually told delivery would be there on Tuesday. My husband takes yet more time off work, guess what? That's right no delivery came! So 3 days sat at home waiting for fencing supplies that we need before Saturday. Called Lowe's, items cost the same price, being delivered this morning in a 2 hour delivery slot. I never write reviews, but this was so appalling that I had no choice. Who can spend 3 days sat at home waiting for a delivery that never comes? The managers made promises they didn't follow up on. Worst customer service I have ever encountered. read more

If you need to grab something you may find it but if you need assistance it is a waste of time. Went here for a semi plumbing emergency. Needed piping and a few other things. The aisles were neat, clean and organized. The service, however was absolutely terrible. No one was immediately available in the plumbing department, had to go over in a different department Asked one associate to send someone to cut and thread piping, the associate forgot. Walked to the paint desk, asked for them to call someone and waited another 10 minutes. Watched an associate walk down the aisle, place items on the shelf and quickly take off despite seeing many customers in the aisle. The associate never asked anyone if they needed assistance. Waited 15 more minutes, flagged someone down in an appliance aisle who promised to send someone. Waited 15 minutes and had to go in another aisle and show frustration for someone to finally come 5 minutes after that request. The person who came down the aisle...the same associate who placed items on the shelves and took off. Had to walk to that associate and ask her to cut pipe, only for her to say that Home Depot only sells galvanized piping, and that she only cut iron pipe because galvanized pipe would wreck the machinery. The problem with this: different locations actually do cut galvanized pipe. In fact, had a repair done once by a professional who stopped in and had his pipe cut at Home Depot. If the store doesn't have anyone available, it is fine to say that. What is not acceptable and what is terrible customer service, is having someone who does not want to do it and to have other associates not be willing to help. Would not recommend at all, go to a different location, or go to the Lowe's that is right around the corner - they even have signage to tell you what they will actually cut (including galvanized pipe). read more

Poor customer service. Next time I'll just buy the tools instead of renting from any home depot. The reason online shopping will take over is there is no true concern about actual paying customers. Not concerned with paying for additional rental time but the policy and math used is to penalize the customer. What company in 2018 has a penalize your customer policy? I don't interact with most of the other employees as I've been to Home Depot so much it's like a second home to me. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was for Cassie in appliances. Polite and tried to do what she could when our appliances weren't delivered after i had refridgerator emptied and stove disconnected. I waited all day for phone call and my husband took off work and we get a call at 6:00pm that they weren't coming and i had to wait another week...if it was already on truck...why another week. I decided to cancel the order. I think they really need to find a different delivery service because I will not take a chance on anymore deliveries from them. Worst online/store experience of my life. They won't fulfill online orders, will just cancel your order on a whim. I called to see the problem knowing full well there was money in my account (Paypal), resubmitted as I was told (Paypal), canceled again. Customer service would not answer the phone. Called the main operator again, was told that probably Paypal was acting up. I re-submitted a third time using another card that I knew was working, and it was still canceled. My guess, they don't want to gather up all of the items. I chose online because it was a dozen small parts and I was unclear where they would be located (the whole point of online shopping). This is the last straw. I have put up with their rudeness. I have put up with their understaffed long lines. I am going to Lowes. read more

Sometimes things can go wrong in retail - but it's establishments like these that make you feel confident in good service. My family ordered some landscaping bricks, and due to some misplaced palettes, there was a miscommunication in which ones we wanted. This easily could have been a huge issue, but the manager was willing to help, despite being in the midst of a delivery issue on the phone. At the end of our visit, my homegirl, Tamara, in customer service (a total queen, by the way), offered my family and I complimentary drinks because we'd been waiting for so long outside in the heat. People like her make the world a better place and the establishment is a better place because of her. In review, although we had some problems solving an issue created by the store, we still left in a relatively good mood because people were so willing to work with us. read more

Good things and bad things: Good: the assistant manager Aemon and one of the pro-desk employees Tiffany really tried to help me. They were fairly attentive to inquiries and courteous. Bad: good intentions does not mean actual results. I had a contractor named Joe working for me that purchased materials at this Home Depot regularly. It was difficult doing phone sales because I have a small baby and can't watch my phone constantly. So I pre-loaded $400 onto a card that can be held at the pro-desk for this guy to use. Well then I did an inspection of this guys work and found out he's either the most incompetent contractor ever or more likely he's a liar and scam artist. So I fired him and I called the pro-desk to get my money refunded to my credit card or transferred to another card that Joe couldn't access. The day I called, the balance on the card was $360. They said they would figure it out and call me back "right away". I got a call from a manager the next day telling me that the balance was now $30. They said they had tried to call at 4 pm the day before but they did not leave a message and it wouldn't have mattered because the money had been spent by 4 pm anyway. I asked them to email me some information and they have not yet. So thank you Allen Park Home Depot Pro Desk for helping Joe rip me off for another several hundred dollars. read more

We get a call today saying our appliances hadn't came from the vendor and now the delivery has been pushed back. Why would you wait the day before to realize that my appliances hadn't arrive! On Sunday May 21, 2016 The most disrespectful experience of my life. First of all we waited for over one hour for the manager to show up at the return desk. The manager was very disrespectful. He didn't even wait to hear why we needed to return boxed unopened and unused items. They were not power tools. I was told by one of his associate that he could call the 1800 number for us. He just said I can't return anything without even looking at the items. I have never been treated in this manner by anyone in my life. At lowes you are respected and it's just down the street. Buying and returning at lowes you are always treated with respect. I recommend shopping at lowes. read more

I was treated with great disrespect from Nathan and Julie from the Allen Park, Mi. store. My wife and I returned a ceiling fan that didn't work to the Allen Park store. The service desk had a hard time issuing a refund to our American Express card so we opted for in store credit. I used the in store credit a few times including at the Allen Park store for small purchases. Last night I presented my in store credit card and ID for a small purchase, I was asked who Cindy was. I told them my wife, same last name. Julie said you can't use her card. I asked for the manager, Nathan. After a 10-15 minutes he arrived and sided with Julie. I asked why the store credit wasn't issued in both of our names and why I was able to use it several times before. Nathan told me that whomever let me use it before should be disciplined. I offered to call my wife so they could verify her ID number but they declined. Basically, I was treated like a criminal. I will NEVER shop at the Allen Park store. In closing, if they EVER offer you in store credit, decline it and ask for an E-Gift card. I am also calling corporate so they know how to handle this type of situation better in the future. read more

Absolute worst experience with online retailer! I placed an order and chose my preferred shipping from available choices. Of course my card was charged immediately! Delivery was supposed to happen next day. Nothing! Got a call 1 wk later from delivery who told me he would have to double shipping charge. I cancelled the order and asked him to credit my account. Again about a wk later no credit. I contacted C.S. who said my account was credited on the 12 and to give it 3-5 bus. days. I did but no credit. Again I contact C.S. who then said my account was credited on the 18th and to give another 3-5 bus days. No credit still! Now they are telling me to file a dispute with my financial institute. Shouldn't H.D. be jumping thru hoops for me! Never again! Will contact State Attorney General and every media outlet that will listen. read more

Recently bought a house and have done a lot of renovations. Especially painting. Went to buy my last couple gallons of paint and the person I dealt with at the paint counter, Angela, was the rudest, most uncooperative home depot employee I've ever dealt with. She was rude, grumpy and unwilling to help. I could tell she was the type that hated her job, and possibly everything in life, but don't let it show to the customer.
