Terrible service from the door department. I came to order two doors and installation services. We picked two of the same door and the "door expert" took forever to find them in the store despite his computer saying their were in stock. My mother and I actually manage to find them ourselves. We tried to order installation services but apparently their system was down that day and I agreed to have them call me back later. When it came time to pay, there were no cashiers and we had to call one over to help us at the self checkout. Later that week, I got two separate calls from a door installation service that explained that they only did custom installations and not off the shelf work. I ended up having to hire a Jiffy pro to install the doors since that "door expert" was useless in setting us up. read more

The only reason I even come here (and I really try not to) is that the staff are incompetent, unfriendly and lazy. Incompetence: Generally speaking, most (more than 90%) of the staff have absolutely no knowledge about the items in their departments, or working theoretical knowledge to provide advice on a given topic in a given department. I found myself getting the majority of my advice from DIY YouTubers and only coming here to buy parts or items that are not already readily sold on Amazon. I have asked for advice on tools, fasteners and paint among other things. And not a single time was I provided with an educated opinion about what's good and why, other than the employee arbitrarily pointing to something that might sell well but is not right for me, and say "that one." If you're going to work anywhere, you should at the very least have basic working knowledge to provide support and guidance to customers that may know little to nothing. I spent 5 years at the LCBO, and took numerous courses to educate myself about various styles of beverage so that in turn, I could approach a customer in need and confidently recommend a product whilst being able to articulate WHY. The staff make absolutely no effort in qualifying the customer - ie asking open ended questions to understand what the customer needs, and compile a solution for them that both generates sales for the store while simultaneously satisfying their needs and making them feel like you're recommending a product based on their individual needs, not just because it sells well. Unfriendly: generally speaking, the staff here are unfriendly. They demonstrate this with their body language as well as their carelessness when speaking and listening to a customer. When asked where a particular product is, an employee simply pointed over yonder and cited an idle number. No other details were given (halfway down the isle on your left hand side, etc) nor were any of the employees I spoke to willing to SHOW me where the item was, until prompted to do so, and even then it felt like a chore for them. There is no one to greet you when they see you've just walked in, nor an effort to thank you for your purchase at checkout. An employee at customer service just standing in front of the computer told me "sorry I'm busy here" after I asked her if she could help me with paying for an item that I had in hand. I would comment about what I'd do or how I'd deal with these kinds of employees if they were my employees. But I've never hired nor worked with anyone that's been as unfriendly as the people in this store. Lazy: Taking from what I said earlier, there seems to be a real issue providing hands on service for customers here. Unless prompted, employees did not actually show me where things were. They just pointed and provided an extremely generic approximation of where the item I was looking for might be. I understand it's a large store. But customer service is an absolute priority in retail. That doesn't mean kiss the customers ass because they're always right. No you shouldn't, and no, they're not. But an active effort needs to be made to assist customers and help them find what they're looking for, so that they can continue to shop here and ultimately end up paying (at least in part) for your salary. As someone who has worked many years in retail, managed people and a small business, I can say for certain that there are obvious issues here that need to be resolved. This is not intended to upset or pick on anyone. It's meant to open the eyes of the management so that they understand why customers are leaving such awful reviews and not coming back. And to help customers understand that they'd get a better experience elsewhere. Who reviews a home hardware store? IMO You'd only be motivated to if you were disgruntled by a bad experience. Hence Ive decided to review my favourite home depot. I probably visit this home depot at least 3 times a month in the past 6-5years. What can I say; I'm a regular. ;) -I've always gotten great service when asked for help. I don't know alot about home improvement so I probably ask many super basic (probably dumb) questions yet they are always so patient and knowledgeable. I was given great tips for noobies like myself. -The washrooms are so clean. Lol weird thing to mentiom but yet if you've drank too much coffee for breakfast and need to go.... It's 10times cleaner and larger than any mcdonalds, Starbucks. -shout out the the flooring department for helping me with selecting the right type of floors for my house and then basement Overall, I really like home depot in general from their massive selection of almost everything ti their awesome super helpful employees. Did you know home depot sells furniture? It's online only. Their website needs improvement but if you're looking for a product and you are lost in the store - go on your phone select your store and look up your product; the website or app will tell you what aisle it's in. The place is a little bit of a maze, it's hard to find everything without asking for help. Maybe it was the fact that there was a snowstorm outside, but it wasn't difficult to find an employee who was free. I was happy with the service when I did find someone. Not only did the guy try to find what I was looking for, he also suggested alternative ways to get the job done. In the end, I didn't buy what I thought I needed as the job will require a little more research on my part. If anyone knows how to fix guitars, give me a holler. The checkout person was the nicest, most pleasant person I have encountered in a week. read more

Being I am not handy I dread the thought of going to Home Depot and stores of its ilk. I don't mind doing things myself but its the idea of being made to feel like an idiot by the all knowing staff (being sarcastic here) Anyway I needed a seal for my espresso maker and I made sure I had looked up the correct name for it online so I would have minimum interaction with the staff. Alas the plan failed I walked and after asking the staff on where I would find the item I was looking for. I arrived at the correct isle and after going back and forth I I was unable to locate the item. Now the search for a staff member who could help me started. All the people I saw they were being hogged by other customers (with a line of people following them waiting for them to answer their needs). I waited patiently for a staff member to help me out and showed him the part. First question which threw me off from him was what is this? ( I was err you should know more than I do) I said its a seal. A seal for what? he retorted. A seal for an espresso machine. What does it do? and then I had to explain its purpose. Hmm we don't have it. OK is there an alternate? I asked. Well lets see and walk me to some place which has all sorts of piping items. This is the closest we have or you can cut it yourself he advises and just walk away. I needed to know how do I cut the item if I went that way. So now the search for another associate started. Same song and dance routine and same result. By this time I had given up and walked away. Now don't get me wrong there are people who can spent all their day at Home Depot and enjoy it. I am not one of them and go here only when I have to. The staff's indifference doesn't help so I guess I will only go here when absolutely needed. read more

Amazingly HORRIBLE customer service. Employees are lazy as hell, the steel pipe machine barely works, nobody was there to help me, an employee thought I was stealing because I put something I ALREADY BOUGHT in my bag, the employees are barely there only a few and all they do is sit and eat at the subway there they don't help with nothing. I lost patience with these people because they take too damn long to help me in the wood cutting station. I've asked about 3 employees and all these people said was "I'll call someone to help you" and nobody came so I did it myself and then the employees complained about it, so I have to wait 25 minutes just to cut a 2×6!? Plus there's barely any cashiers and the stupid machine ripped my money. In conclusion, this in my opinion is the worst home depot location in toronto and I recommend to go to another home depot location, even Lowes or Rona if you have to because these people give the entire home depot company a bad name. I would definitely want an apology by these people, if I owned home depot, they would of been fired from the start. read more

Here's a funny story that illustrates the degree of help I have learned to expect at this Home Depot: Today I approached a middle aged associate, and I asked him where are the plumb bobs. The man gave me a blank look, so I explained that a plumb bob is a weight that attaches to the end of the string in order to provide a vertical line reference. The associate replied: "it's in the plumbing section." I looked at him doubtfully: "you are saying that the plumb bobs are in the plumbing section?" I secretly suspected that he was sending me there because the letters p-l-u-m-b are in both 'plumb bob' and in 'plumbing.' The associate replied with an irritated voice: "yes, yes it's in the plumbing section!" You may be surprised to learn Home Depot's supply of plumb bobs are nowhere near the plumbing section. So my opinion of Home Depot associates' intelligence dropped a little bit more. The point of my story? God help anyone who relies upon Home Depot employees' knowledge about anything -- including where to find simple items in their store. read more

Terrible customer service. I waited 20 minutes in the blinds department with no one to assist me in ordering new blinds. The staff did page twice for the employee that works that department to come, but no one every showed. I ended up getting my blinds at a competitors. read more

Very impressive customer service, special thanks to Anthony, who was very helpful. After spending half a day chasing washing machine deals around North York area I went to Home Depot as a last resort after many frustrating experiences. Experience in home depot was a true relief after all the pushy salesmen. The price was right and Anthony very knowledgeable. I usually don't rave about chain stores but today's experience in Home Depot was the most pleasant big store experience I've ever had. read more

Bought two toilets online on Monday, when I come to pick it ip on Tuesday, only one in stock. Didn't notify me at all. And Customer Service told me the system "locked" my order, so they couldn't refund for another toilet. Wait there for 2 hour, nobody can fix the system. read more

It's now December 10th and I'm STILL getting the run around from Home Depot. My replacement stove is apparently with the carrier company whatever that means. The contact that I have been escalated too can only say that they are having trouble contacting the carrier company that has my stove for delivery. It's two weeks from Christmas and I still have nothing to cook or bake with! Absolutely ridiculous. They have lost me as a customer for life. read more

One of the worst Home Depot in the Toronto area. I dread going to this location, and only go here as my last choice. I went here today (June 5, 2017), only because the one I usually go to didn't have a working machine to resize the blinds. I entered the store, found exactly what I was looking for in less than 2 mins. When it came to get an associate to help me cut the blinds to the size I required, I couldn't find the proper associate. The few I did see wandering around said that its not their department and they can't help me. One associated did say that he will page Tamara, who can help me, to come to aisle # 8 to assist with my request. I did hear him make the page, but Tamara was nowhere to be found. I waited approximately 15 minutes and still no sign of Tamara. I asked an associate working in the paint section to page Tamara and he said he's not allowed and that I should speak to customer service. I go to the customer service desk and as associate, while helping another customer, asked me what I needed. I asked him to page someone to aisle # 8, and after listening to me he just completely ignored me and went back to helping the customer he was already with. I waited another 10 mins at the customer service desk, hoping the other two associated at the desk will acknowledge me...they didn't. After that I was furious, so I asked a lady associate at the desk, to page me the Manger on Duty. She said that she is the manager on duty, so I told her that I've been waiting for someone name Tamara to help me for the past 20 minutes. She walked with me to aisle # 8 and Tamara was there helping another customer. When the Manager on Duty told Tamara to help me after she's done with her current customer, Tamara started complaining how she hasn't gone on her break. The Manager on Duty once again, this time more assertively instructed Tamara that she must help me after she's done with the current customer. Once Tamara was done with the current customer, Tamara did help me. But when it came time to cut the blinds to the required length, she past me on to another associate and left, presumably on her break. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience and I'm glad that I avoid this location as much as I can. I usually always go to the one on Duff/Steeles where you can find an associate willing to help you, advice you and spend sometime with you listening to your needs. read more

This is actually one of the better home depos I've been to! Nice people working here.

We hired Home Depot to do custom drapery for our bedroom. We selected them because the fabric matched the decor of the room and seemed to be of good quality. Everything went downhill from there. The promised delivery went way beyond what was originally promised. It was impossible to have phone calls returned when trying to obtain the status. When the drapes were finally completed, the installation was completed with a number of items to be completed. Once again we had to chase after them. We noticed that the drapes never hung properly. When the installer came again, he said we were sold way too much material. When we put pressure on Home Depot to resolve the problem. the installer took the drapes off, removed about four feet of material, resewed them and then rehung them. Home Depot sub-contracts the sale of drapes to a third party who sub-contracts the sewing of them to a different party. A contractor then hangs them. There are major disconnects among the multiple parties involved. I would never ever consider them for any future work! read more
