I'm a big fan of Home Depot's paint section and all other kitchen and bathroom essentials . Upgrading my bathroom and I got almost everything from Home Depot . Vanities , faucets , toilets , sheet rocks etc etc . It's also easy to order online and get curb side pickup. It's quick . Once you checkin , the staff gets your products less than 10 mins .. very convenient . Service inside could be better . Sometimes it's tough to get an associate for assistance . I will go in and purchase something at Home Depot and leave but I will never do an install with them again. They are third-party contractor 1-800 heaters are absolute garbage. Bought a toilet after several days of no call to schedule the install I called them and was told the schedule will call me back within an hour. Never got a call back. Called them first thing in the morning the next day and was told the schedule wasn't in yet but another note will be given to her and she will call me back. Never heard from her yet again. Called Home Depot and spoke to a manager he called them and said she would get back to me in a half hour and never called me back. I canceled my toilet install and went to Lowe's. Worst experience ever buying something and getting it installed will never purchase an install from Home Depot again. read more

I'm usually a fan of both of the major big box home improvement stores or at least neutral , and may compare items at both. I came to this location which is a few minutes closer than the one I normally visit off of rt 130. There was a nearby restaurant I was curious about so I decided to come to this one then grab lunch. I was looking for 3 items, the first was ok, not quite what I wanted but it would work. The second was an outdoor trash can, that was literally hidden in the furthest recesses of this store. I thought I'd be able to locate on my own, but I gave up and asked for help. The third item is not important, but it took 3 different employees to finally ascertain that it was not available. Lastly, a section I wanted to look at had pallets of product blocking the whole section. I couldn't shop it much less see the selection. But the icing on the cake was that the can came up the wrong price. It was only a buck or 2 but the principle you know..... So yup, I trudged back to outer HD land, took a photo, trudged back and then waited about 8 minutes to be refunded. So yay?!? I'll stick to my other HD for future needs. read more

Just need to declare a warm-and-fuzzy we had a few days ago (Saturday morning, 6/29). We rolled in for some bulk returns and our cashier was VERY helpful and patient, ditto the adjacent cashier who I guess helped some customer navigate some coupons and eventually unlocked a discount or something. Said customer was so elated that she wrapped said cashier in a large hug. Also the tattooed fella working the PRO section (Ortiz?) was also a pleasant experience. I'm resigned to the fact that customer service at most retailers is now a fading echo of Christmas past. The days of bright and attentive store employees has succumb to the harsh realities of low pay and strangulating cost controls. However, while I can generally deal with the absence of in-store expertise at a disheveled hell hole like Marshall's, at Home Depot where home projects can be complicated, costly and time consuming the intentional lack of staffing is maddening. It's not hard to see what's going on. If you're a contractor, or in the market for lucrative "do it for me" products and services like appliances, flooring and kitchen/bath remodeling step right up and see a professional, no waiting. Conversely, if you're wandering the store as a DIY refugee enjoy the solitude. Whatever random staff is on the floor usually has three or four customers hovering. If this were a one-off anomaly, no big deal but these stores (Lowe's included) used to pride themselves on service and are now just as short-sighted as any drowning chain in the mall. Sad. read more

This Home Depot is clean, well-organized and conveniently located a short drive from a FedEx, Great clips, Walmart... I bought hardware there. Despite their huge selection, I had also to drive to another local store to find some hardware they didn't have. The staff is efficient and customer-oriented. Returns are easy and fast as long as you have your receipt and are within the time period specified on your receipt. It has been free to park on the shopping center parking lot. read more

Assistant manager came to resolve but she was even worst. I hope the management takes it seriously and explain the associates about customer handling. No good... I had to return a gift of an outdoor fireplace and was denied because we did not have the receipt as it was a gift. . I requested the manager and was sent a supervisor who was no help so I requested the manager again. He showed up with no empathy and said no reciept no return .It was purchased at HD and was in an unopened box.The quality of personnel and lack of care will exclude me from ever shopping there again all over a $100 fire pit. A total joke. The customer is reason your doors are open. Home Depot perhaps you look to upgrade store management personnel. All Home Depots are more or less identical. The aisles may not always be uniformly laid out in every warehouse, but it is fairly easy to find what you are looking for. This store in West Windsor, NJ, is no different. If they don't have it, you don't need it. We were looking for curtain hardware and a few hundred pounds of sand that our local hardware house didn't have. We were nearby (Costco), and decided to stopped in. Approaching the entrance it was obvious this HD had a very large plant area outside extending into the parking lot. Nice touch to have rows of trees and annuals between the parking lanes. Inside, we asked directions from a woman in an orange apron to get us going in the right direction. We found everything we needed, and a few things we didn't. Prices were reasonable. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Today we installed the curtains, raised and anchored the basketball backboard in the driveway, and prepared to paint the back deck railings and caps. Home Depot sure has changed the nature of the hardware/home improvement business, not generally for the better. But, when the local guys don't have it, is the only reasonable Plan B. read more

The West Windsor NJ store is terrible and it is obvious evening management knows noting about good custmer service. I purchased an item online several days ago and needed to return it. There were a number of issues with the initial order so customer service issued me a $15.89 coutesy credit to my credit card for the trouble I experienced. I was told if there is an issue with the item that it could be returned to my local store for a full refund during the normal refund period. I returned it to the West Windsor store and they would not give me the full amount that was charged to my credit card account. Instead, they decided to deduct the courtesy credit I was given. I requested manager assistance and he was not helpful. He insisted on deducting my courtesy credit from the full amount of the refund. I spent an hoor and a half there trying to get it rectified and the manager did nothing to assist me except to offer me the product back without any refund. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! read more

They have scheduled the install 3 times and cancelled each time without good communitcation, I had to go the the homedepot each time the answer was there is a part missing. they refuse to refund my money I have not heard in over a month now. Not your best Home Depot. Over the past few years we've purchased a number of items from here ranging from $5 to $700. The customer service is very hit-or-miss--it depends entirely on who you find. Some people will be very helpful, some will make it seem like you are a burden. The guy who sold us our $700 Samsung stove could have cared less about us being there. His I-really-don't-care attitude was pretty fascinating. The most recent outrage came with that stove's instillation. The guys who came to deliver it reeked of pot. Not just a little--they definitely hotboxed it in the van. They were nice enough, though they barely gave me a minute to clean behind our old stove. I'm nearly certain they did not connect the stove correctly; it smells lightly of gas nine days later. We called Home Depot and as you'd expect, they punted it to the manufacturer. They refused to accept any responsibility at all and were not even an ounce helpful. Call out to the customer service people at the returns deck though--they are always very helpful. Still, definitely doing most of my shopping at Lowes moving forward. read more

I was ready to be disappointed in the service and selection at Home Depot but, I was pleasantly surprised. We stopped in today, a Saturday, to check out a dishwasher I was interested in. The HD associate was busy but made a point to acknowledge us and tell us he was finishing up with another customer and would be right with us. While F waited I lost interest and decided to wander around. I have to say their tile and flooring selection was pretty nice. Not so much in the lighting department. However, every where I went there was an associate helping someone or asking if I needed help. That's refreshing! When I got back to F he was being helped. If it weren't for the friendly ladies in the customer service, it would have been 1 star. I cannot rely on this store. Many times many items are out of stock. Even though the app shows the opposite. It takes forever to get the online order picked. A few times they started picking it only when I came to the store, even though the order was placed a day before, and that wasted somewhere between one and two hours of my time. I recently received a gift card to Home Depot. I had decided long ago that Lowes blows Home Depot away, but I had a gift card to spend. My expedition to Home Depot was to purchase a drain pipe extension. My old one had grown a pair of legs (most likely those of my 6 year-old neighbor who can be a real PIA) and walked away. All I needed was a two foot piece. After walking up and down several aisles, I couldn't find the gutter material. So then I start looking for a sales person. Five minutes of more wandering, I found one and am directed to the right aisle. I get there, only to find 10 foot pieces. So I go to the service desk to ask if they can cut one for me. But before I ask, I have to stand there for 10 minutes (seriously) to wait to ask someone. The girl who finally gets around to waiting on me makes a call, sorry, we can't cut it for you. When I inquire "how am I supposed to fit a 10 foot piece of aluminum in my car," I received the response, "I dunno." Thanks for the customer service Home Depot! And for confirming why I give Lowes my business. Now on to Lowes........... read more

I recently submitted a thoughtful review on Home Depot's website of a storm door manufactured and sold by Home Depot which I bought at the Princeton store. The review gave the product five stars after 13 years of use despite certain issues. Two days later, I got an email saying my review was rejected, and also saying: "Avoid writing about customer service issues - instead, contact us to discuss your concerns". In my long review, I had casually mentioned that, after losing the insect screen, I had made several trips to Home Depot to try and get it replaced, but without success. And for this, they recommend that I contact their customer service department? Instead, I think I will just go to Lowe's in future. I was telling the truth, being generally positive, giving a 5-star review of their own product despite the lousy customer service. So now, I will blog about them being liars instead, and boycott the company forever. Smart, Home Depot, smart. Censor online reviews so that the truth is being avoided. I've been to this location at least 6 times during the past 2 weeks (couldn't find hammer, so found a nicely weighted one for $3.87; needed flourescent lightbulbs, and they're $3.88 for a pack of 4 in either 40Watt (9 watt fluorescent) or 60 (15 watt); needed spare keys and got 2 normal ones, and one each as Batman and Taz--I was in a strange mood). Specifically for the Key Cutting Services.... Pro: They have a key cutting department with chips. Not all HD's have this capacity. They will tell you when their outside vender is available to make a copy of your key and program your chip. The vender will also ensure the chip works. Con: I am standing here waiting for the vendor because he is 1 hour and 30 minutes late for his 2 hour shift. I scheduled my day around the two hour window. I could have been working or doing something productive instead of standing here for the last 45 minutes. What this tells me is I can not depend on HD & the vendor to provide services as advertised. Call before you come to make sure you don't waste your time. So disappointing. I usually like HD. At least the HD guys here are nice about the whole situation. read more

Employees do nothing to help customers. My husband watched 3 employees standing around doing absolutely nothing while a man was struggling to put carpets in his vehicle. Maybe those 3 employees don't represent the entire staff but it is it not a liability to let your customers become pinned beneath a heavy carpet?? Absolutely ridiculous. When purchasing my stove and refrigerator from Home Depot I had a very good experience. Everything was easy to order and everyone was very friendly. Due to Covid I was told everything was on back order, which is understandable. So I had to wait for a month and a half to have everything delivered. No problem. Well, along came my dad to have my items delivered. I got the message saying they would be at my home between 10:15am-2pm. I got up early. Made sure the fridge and stove they were removing from my home was cleaned out. Took my door off the hinges so the appliances could fit through and then waited. Well 2:15 rolled around and nothing. Then 4. Sill nothing. I gave customer service a call. I was told that the delivery driver left a note saying that they had called my number to inform me that they would be here early at 9:30 but got voicemail. That is not true I got no phone call and also had no voicemail. She then said that the note said that they knocked on my door at 9:30 no one answered they waited for 15 minutes and then left. Considering I was awake with my baby in the living room and heard no knock that also is not true. My dogs didn't bark there was no truck outside my neighbors didn't see anything and I didn't hear anything. She then said well check your door handle to see if they left a we missed you Card I went outside and looked at my doorhandle looked in my mailbox looked on the ground...nothing. So clearly they lied. I am not happy. I had to reschedule my delivery for a week from today. I am grateful that it was only a week from now and not several weeks. I would have had no problem receiving a phone call saying that the delivery driver is running behind and they had to reschedule my appointment for next Tuesday however the fact that they were lies made to make it seem like I was the one that missed the delivery is unacceptable. read more

I had a very good experience at this Home Depot. While I understand the other reviewer's frustration about home installs, my in-store experience with service was great. I am a novice working on a big woodworking project, so I was a bit intimidated by the lumber section. I didn't even have to approach anyone with my vague questions, before I heard a friendly voice, Terry asking me if I wanted help. Well, the two of us discussed my vague ideas and came up with a plan, and Terry spent over an hour with me choosing the best pieces of wood from the stock, and cutting every piece I needed to size. Now THAT's service. He was really upbeat the whole time, and asked to see pictures of my project when I return. I will certainly be doing so for this project from now on! P.S. The only reason why I left off a star is because I'm a novice woodworker, and if my wood needs were more, I would probably I'd probably be a little disappointed with Home Depot's lumber selection. read more

The customer service at this Home Depot is lousy. I purchased a haul away play for an old washer. The company came to my house and refused to pick up the old appliance. Then they cited a rule they made up can't pick up appliances after 30 days. I went to the store the assistant manager would not even come over. They gave me a number of NJ Clean Energy which was totally bogus because they do not take away washers and the appliance needed to work!!! Hello the reason it was replaced was because it does not work. I asked Home Depot to show me the 30 day rule and they could not provide anything. We just had to pick up the stuff ordered online from the store. This dude who walked up to us, apparently to help, just starred at me and wife as if he was cursing us like, what the hell do u want. So wife told him that we here for store pick up. He asked for last name and god knows what he heard. But later, he gave us an attitude like we don't know how to pronounce our last name. He corrected my wife on how to pronounce her last name and was acting disturbed to having to attend us. Later, he brings the heavier stuff on the large cart and just sets it rolling on the floor letting it, taking its own course. That I suppose is rude. Upon checking the cart, wife had a question on if it had the smaller stuff within the large boxes, so she was checking with another nice gentleman at the counter and this dude walks from the back holding a smaller box and just staring like "What the fuck". As if like u can't ask questions unless i let u. Well we just got our stuff and got out, but am glad this was the last and only time I had to see that ass hole. Hot water heater installation. Beware! you will pay more Placed an order through Home Depot, installation and scheduled and performed by a third party 1 800 Heaters. requested Rheem 40gal 6 year 399$. upon contact from 1800 heaters i was immediately pressured into an upsell 40gal 9year 499$. They agreed to throw in the permit (75$). the quote for the installation, unit all included was 999$. I felt as if i was vulnerable to an upcharge when they arrived for installation, so i ask 3 different individuals employed with 1800 heaters. They each assured me that "they dont do that" only if there were extraordinary circumastnces. To be clear this was as easy of an install as concievable. first floor condo, no obstruction, purchased the same size replacement. The gentlemen showed up,... here we go.. almost immediately began the additional charge talk. the excuse was for the replacement of the gas connection and hot/ cold water connections. the serviceman stated that they needed to be replaced ANYTIME the HWH is replaced. My comment was that if it is an expected intergral part of an installation why is that not included in the 500$ installation price. he came back with a lower price 135$ verses the intial 385$ that he proposed. this was a simple switch. they will not connect the water heater to your water lines or gas line without additional charges. again i was assured this would not happen. some of this is clearly negotiable. the serviceman was competent. he left things a little messy, didnt bother us, may bother another. read more

Was in Home Depot on the evening of July 16, 2018. Bought 7 boxes of tile. They were fairly heavy. When I wanted to check out there was no-one at any register. There were a group of employees chatting near the self service section and one finally came over to help ring me out. I asked where the cashiers were and they said there were no cashiers on duty!!! I pushed the very heavy load out to my car, with no offer of help. If this is the kind of service they offer (don't offer), Lowe's may be a much better alternative. read more

The management here appears to have deteriorated significantly since I worked there in 2000. What a shame. Where management would once fire an "associate" for pointing a customer to a location instead of leading him there, they now allow associates to roam around doing nothing while watching customers struggle to load their vehicles. I guess that's what happens when the company values quantity over quality. As contractor I I know getting quality help is tough but some of the people they have working there are just plain lazy and don't deserve the job. What a shame. I won't be returning to this store. Lowe's down the street isn't as contractor friendly but the help is. read more

I had a warranty repair issue with our 5-month-old Samsung Dryer and Samsung was being difficult. At first, they did not recognize the serial # on the side of the machine and then later refused to service the dryer unless I "un-stacked" it; i.e. remove it from above the washing machine where it was professionally installed using Samsung brackets. The West Windsor store called Samsung on my behalf and then sent 2 employees to my home to un-stack the dryer for Samsung to look at it. Once Samsung finally fixed the dryer (replaced the motor) the store sent over an installer to re-install the dryer (the kind of thing you would think Samsung would do under a full parts and service warranty). Thanks to the store manager Doug Perks who stood behind this purchase and agreed to make things right, and Chris, Stu and Mike G who were all very helpful in the process. It's nice to know Home Depot stands behind the products it sells! read more
