We love The Hot Tomato for sandwiches. They defer a decent sandwich for a good price. Today I tried the "best wings in town". Unfortunately they were far from it. Wings had an odd texture and off taste. Not spoiled in anyway just, in my opinion, a low quality wing. Buffalo sauce was decent. Blue cheese terrible. Will we be back..yes. Just not for wings. The hot tomato is a hidden gem. What first stood out was the ENORMOUS menu. I've ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich, the meatball sandwich, pizza, and garlic bread and all have been great. It's hard to find a place that do so many things well, usually with menus this big there is a handful of specialties that are actually good and the rest of the things are mediocre but that hasn't been my experience here so far. We had high hopes, so placed a take away order online for 5 people ($120). The online order said it would be ready in 20-25 mins. Got a text about 12 mins later saying it was ready. Great, except we are still 10 mins away. Our food sat ready for pickup for 10 extra minutes. Got there and added $56 of bakery out the case. Sadly the cannoli were the best part of the nearly $200 order. All the fries, onion rings, tots were cold and soggy. The sandwiches were mostly bread and the fillings that were there were made up of cheap ingredients. We'll never eat from here again. read more

So it's been a while since hubby and I have been here. They have did some work on the inside, looks good. Doesn't have much seating however. The menu has grown a lot, plenty more food options. I haven't been in a while but I used to love the cheeseburger wrap. It is decent food but a little overpriced.

Cute little local gem. Huge menu and counter service. I got a chicken parm sandwich. Very hot which is good. Bread was great, chicken so so and hardly any tomato sauce. Took awhile to get my sandwich and there was only one other party there at the time. Expensive though---$20 for a sandwich and a small fountain drink. The selection is amazing. We had Cuban deluxe, 2702 salad, regular Cuban and ham sandwich. My Deluxe is enormous. I am taking half home. Everything was great. Although I wasn't sure if they'd have any vegetarian options, The Hot Tomato had a Veggie Cuban available, and I'm a sucker for those! Plus, they had a delicious assortment of cakes to choose from for dessert, so I knew that even if I didn't enjoy the Cuban, I'd still be in for a treat! There are so many selections to choose from depending on what you are looking for. From burgers, pizza, sandwiches and desserts. We chose their Cuban sandwich, Ham/Turkey club sandwich, 10" meat lovers pizza and a mile high cheesecake slice. There are tables/chairs/booth to sit down and eat. We chose to take it out and eat it at home. Service was great and staff were friendly. You do need to wait as everything is made to order besides the cheesecake. I read a number of the reviews and all I can do is report on my experience. I found the "Hot Tomato" to be fantastic. Contrary to other reviews, the customer service I received was outstanding. After I had eaten a decent portion of my order the woman at the counter asked me how I liked everything. I was happy to report that everything was really good and that I would definitely be back. They offer quite a lot of options. Many many sandwich options, pizza, wings, burgers, salads and much more. Oh Oh, and homemade pies for desert. You can customize your sandwiches with different breads, cheeses, veggies etc. The menu is Huge. I had the Big New Yorker on Rye AND the tuna melt. Both were fantastic. My boyfriend and I wanted to try The Hot Tomato. It's a super casual spot offering pizza, tomato pies, sandwiches, and assorted fried goods and desserts. It's not a bad pit-stop or place to get a foodie fix. That being said, I don't recommend their chicken noodle (bland) or their Cuban (tastes like an awesome sandwich, but not a Cuban). Meh - stopped here in our travels back to Orlando because they had a little bit of everything so all of us could get what we wanted. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sub with a side of fries. My sandwich was a lot of bun with not a lot of filling. I had to go back to the food pick-up area as my sandwich had no ranch on it at all. I found it kind of bland with not a lot of substance. The fries were average. My daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs. I tried them when she was done. I felt like it was missing seasoning. It was ok. They did give three good size meatballs - that was the only plus I saw. My wife got the buffalo chicken wrap with a side of tater tots. My wife liked her dish and said that she would get it again. I tried the coleslaw that came with my mother-in-law's cole slaw. We both enjoy a good slaw. This was not it (I spit mine out into a napkin). It was heavily mayonnaised and tasted very acidic. I live in Ruskin and, quite frankly, it used to be way better quality, portions and much cheaper. The prices have gone way up like everyone else around here, but the quality and portions have gone down. The service is par at best and seating is oddly spaced... It's clean and well lit but who cares when it's soooooo overpriced and of poor quality. Their potato ball used to be bigger with way more meat filling, now it's tiny with half the filling and is most often over cooked and dry. The burgers are WAY overpriced for what you get, their Rubens are greasy as heck and the overpriced salads are soggy because they DROWN them in dressing... Too bad, it used to be a great place. read more

Food is always good but my last 2 experiences just trying to get a regular cheeseburger and fries just didn't come out well. The on line door dash menu won't let you order a single cheeseburger, only double. The extra condiments part isn't user friendly. The fries --- they do need to be cooked. This is one of my favorite spots to get a dessert or sandwich from. If you're getting anything other than the dirty bird sandwich or the Reuben Cuban you're not living life to its full potential. I can say that the first visit was definitely better than the second, the food just wasn't made the same. We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and a turkey sandwich the hot chicken was okay but the sauce was so messy it was all over our bag and the contents inside the bag, the turkey sandwich was okay I think they ran out of turkey because there was only 2 pieces on a huge piece of bread. Sooo we were there when they reopened after Ian. It was our first time to try it and we both had sandwiches - boyfriend had a burger and I had chicken. They were McDonalds at best unfortunately. My man got the "Real Philly Cheesesteak"--interestingly enough the cheese they use for this sub is a "cheese wiz" which looked very much like nacho cheese. I took a bit of the sub to give it a try since I love Philly cheesesteak. It didn't taste like a "real" cheesesteak to me lol...but it was edible. And my man thought they skimped on the meat too. Wow!! Won't be going here again! We have patronized this business since we moved here. It is on a major downhill slide! Tonight I waited over 30 minutes for two SANDWICHES!! I saw several people come in and order pizza way after me that came and went. Even the door dash guy made two trips in and out in the time I stood there waiting! It might have been alright but the two women who were working the front counter NEVER cracked a smile to ANYONE! The older grey haired lady is the WORST! She has been rude every time I've been in there! "What do you want" is the greeting you get! They all stand around with their mouths hanging open (seriously, it's unbelievable!) and gripe at the other employees! They didn't have the two items I wanted.
