Had a great sunday brunch at The Howe! Great location with a parking lot and street parking. Plenty of seating to manage busy weekend crowds. The brunch menu has great options that you won't find at other restaurants. I went for the classic breakfast burrito that you can customize - I was very happy with it. Great serving size. My partner got the spicy eggs benedict - although good, it wasn't spicy and the serving size was lacking. This is a great local typical American restaurant. They have a heated tent space that almost feels like you're outdoors because you can see right outside, and we were there while it was snowing so it was totally gorgeous. They had cute winter themed decorations and I think the heated 'patio' was way nicer to sit at than inside so I highly recommend that. The heaters are above you and they warm up the air, table, and even the menus and it feels so nice, I almost got too hot and it was below freezing outside! They had $5 beer specials for the month which is a good deal and decent amount of daily and monthly special offers as well that you could find online. They had a great variety of beers and many cocktail options that looked very yummy but I didn't have a chance to try, even some adorable seasonal ones. For appetizers we had the fried mushrooms and the street corn dip which were both very good and unique, not something you find everywhere, but also don't expect the corn dip to taste like true Mexican elotes! I would probably recommend the mushrooms more though they come with a little too much fry batter for my taste, though both truly were very tasty. For dinner I split the black bean burger which was tasty but nothing too special. The chili aioli was what made it special but other than that it was really something you would find anywhere and they charge $1 extra for any of their sauces you decide you want, without telling you. Food is just expensive these days I suppose, and this place definitely follows that trend but it's pretty along the lines with other places in Minneapolis. The host and server were both attentive and kind, though the service did feel pretty rushed which was a bummer because we wanted to hangout longer and it felt like it went very quick even though there was no one waiting so they didn't need us gone or anything. Our appetizers basically came out at the same time our entrees did so that was a bummer but not enough to bring it down to 4 stars. Overall this place was great, I highly recommend. Very friendly staff. Love the ambiance of the space, and we were sat in a super comfy booth/table combo. There was no wait on a Sunday afternoon and the 3 seasons patio was open. The parking lot fills quick but it wasn't hard to find street parking. The brunch menu had great breakfast options (though not many without eggs) and quite a smaller lunch-like menu. I totally get the need to shrink your lunch menu for the kitchen's sake, but it can be a bummer to come in around noon on a Sunday and not be able to get their full lunch menu! The breakfast burrito bowl was killer. My partner loved the wings too - very very well seasoned and good meat! A few bummers - a bacon side for $4 was 2 very tiny strips. Portion sizes in general were a bit weak for the prices. I wish they offered flavors for their cold brew coffee (they have syrups in house for cocktails but wouldn't let them be used for the coffee?) though the coffee was high quality! I was surprised by how much seating they had here--their patio is enclosed and heated in the winter. We walked in on a Friday night and only had to wait about five minutes to be seated, and our server Andrew was great and super attentive! I think I definitely preferred the American food here--I got the kimchi pancakes ($9) as a starter and the half broasted chicken ($17) as my entree, and I thought the chicken was delicious--juicy, crispy, and well-seasoned, exactly as advertised!--though I felt it could've been spicier (I ordered hot rather than original). The coleslaw was listed as "sweet chili coleslaw", but it just tasted like regular old coleslaw to me. The portion of food was an INSANE value for $17--this could easily feed 2, and I say that as someone with a pretty decent appetite. As a Korean person, I was bound to be more critical of the kimchi pancakes, and I definitely felt like they could've been heavier on the kimchi/spice. As its own thing, I'd say they were definitely good, but I wouldn't say they're what would come to mind if I was specifically looking for kimchijeon. We got the street corn dip ($12) to share, which was good but pretty standard, and my friends got the ahi poke bowl ($18) and Hot Chic sandwich ($16). I was told the ahi bowl was well-seasoned with a good tuna portion, but the Hot Chic was subpar--the bun was a bit dry and the chicken was also not spicy enough. The chips that came with the sandwich were also not super flavorful--definitely light on the seasoning/salt than is our preference. I think they have a really diverse menu and try to do it all, which can result in some of the less standard things not being as good as they might be at a specialty restaurant, which is a pitfall a lot of American places find hard to avoid nowadays. However, the service was friendly and fast, and it had a super welcoming and casual atmosphere, so I'd totally come back for the broasted chicken again, but would probably stick to that over trying anything else. read more

First time at the Howe! It's not too far from me and once I heard it was dog friendly (especially in the winter) we needed to try! It was not super busy when we went on NYE at 7. Ambiance: 9/10 They had a festive Pawtio with Christmas lights and decor. It was heated for people who sat out there with their dogs. (Us) Service: 8/10 Can't complain. Not memorable but no mistakes and they were attentive. Food: Ok. Buffalo Cauliflower: good- again no complaints but didn't wow me. Chicken sandwich: mid. Fries & tots: zero/no flavor :( I think when restaurants do large, festive, over the top decor, they end up skimping on other areas - especially food quality. The service and ambiance were great as always, however, the chicken tenders were a little strange. I am quite the tender connoisseur, and the shape of these ones were slightly off-putting. They were thick chunks, and had a kind of tough bite. With the texture being off, the normal lack of flavor was far more noticeable than usual and couldn't be redeemed by the honey mustard and ranch. Not sure why there's such a low review for this restaurant but we absolutely love it as dog parents!! Recently the place has done some renovations to open up the outdoor patio space for a doggie hangout/dining spot. I appreciate the outdoor heating system and the glass-like divider to be able to see through outside and stay warm. The service is great- especially for the dogs. When you walk in, they offer a mat for each pet and a water bowl. On their menu, they have a whole section on doggie treats and meals. Super cute and creative! I ordered a curry fried rice that has a Caribbean twist to it, with pineapple, coconut rice and cashews. I opted in to add chicken for additional $4 but it alone tastes great too. We stopped here for brunch before attending a ladies event. Some of the others had been here before and we needed a place that would take reservations. The food was pretty good! I liked that the biscuits and gravy included breakfast potatoes and veggies and my mom's pancake was so big she couldn't finish it. Came in to eat on Christmas Day, so first of all thanks for being open. Food was incredible. The lavender lemonade was really yummy and so were the cheese curds. They're served with pepper jelly which was new but definitely delicious. I ordered the cranberry chicken sandwich which I think is seasonal, but if you do get it I recommend it with the pepper jelly! It was super good. Our waitress was very nice and service was relatively quick for how busy it was. Also the Christmas decor is off the charts, like they made the air vent a candy cane. read more

They have tuna Tare Tare and pouched eggs for your dog I am so unimpressed with this place. It breaks my heart I watched them slowly by slowly cut each employee from the original Rail Station crew. Beautiful patio! Nice place. Food bleh. Server not available. We were disappointed to hear that the Fried Chicken was taken off the menu. The chicken tenders were very small and just three, but they tasted great. However, the Tater Tots were not edible. No flavor at all, looked freezer burned or twice fried. Changed to regular fries which were good. Tatziki Sauce on the Gyro dish was just plain Greek Yogurt, no cucumbers or dill. Didn't taste like Tzatziki at all The Bleu & Fig Burger had no bleu cheese crumbles or bleu cheese dressing taste, also couldn't find or taste any fig jam. Some kind of green stems were on the burger. No greens, just stems. My husband almost choked on a stem. He normally eats everything, but he left part of his burger. He said, "it had no flavor...it was just blah and boring" Our server was nice, but unavailable. We think she was busy on the front outdoor patio? Once our food was served, she was unavailable. No check back at the table unless we had to ask someone to look for her. No drink refills were offered. No dessert was offered. Sadly, we had been looking forward to trying the mini doughnuts. Not worth another server search to order dessert. She took our payments only after we had someone go and find her to bring our bills. Then, she didn't return with the extra cash or any printed receipts. After waiting a long time, we finally stood up and waited by the door for the cash (apparently the server misunderstood that the cash should be returned), and for our printed receipts which we had requested. I didn't ask the other three about their meals, but I'm sure, at the very least, they were not impressed with the service. I didn't hear anyone raving about their meal though. So what we had hoped would be a great new spot to enjoy, turned out to be a bit frustrating, both with the food and the service. If we ever decide to return and give them another try, we'd opt for the patio. Maybe those folks get good service? I gave the second star for the ambiance. Service was okay, no complaints. I enjoyed dining outside with my dog this summer. I brought her with me 2x. They give your dogs a bowl of water. The second time i brought her they gave her dog treat or biscuit of some sort. IDK if that was a new thing, but it was nice. Dining inside was nice. We had a cool server.
