I passed by a room where I saw senior citizens having fun singing and dancing. Someone waved for me to come in and I did. I had a good time. The singing was mostly funny in a way. No expert singers. Music's good and they provided little coffee and snacks. But most of all, as a senior retired, I was amazed at how good this center is and how inclusive. I was told that the big boss is Francis. His office just inside the Sing Along room and a good guy. Very accommodating and welcoming. I plan to fix my time and go back in the new year.

A majority of the gym's equipment has been updated with new, smoother, legible, and more padded machines. If it's grey, black, and blue... it's new! The fitness centre has strategically placed TV's with air conditioning to a cool, comfortable temperature as you get your sweat on. Half the gym is lined with windows to allow for natural sunlight and outdoor sights and the other half is lined with mirrors for your viewing pleasure as you count those reps and pump those muscles. Considering the size of the fitness centre, it packs a well-organized and good variety of: - Cardio machines like exercise bikes, rowing machines, step machines, ellipticals and treadmills with screens, iPhone connections, and fans. - Weight training machines to target all the major muscle groups of your body that you desire. - Free weights from 2.5 to 90 lbs with a variety of benches and plenty of mirror space. - Bench press, Squat rack and a Smith machine round out the major equipment. There's so many other equipment choices you can find like jump ropes, kettlebells, resistance bands, weight belts, medicine balls, mats, foam roller, and full and half exercise balls. Not sure where to start? There's always someone in the fitness centre that can answer your questions, and at times there's a certified fitness trainer present. If this isn't enough, the fitness centre pass also includes group fitness classes such as yoga, run clubs, outdoor bootcamp, functionality training and more. Once you're all done and sweaty, change rooms are available with lockers (bring your own lock) and showers outside of the fitness room beside the restrooms. Fitness centre drop-in (as of Fall 2013) is $5.30. There are 10 visit punch cards and monthly options in which the deals get better as more months you buy. A 3 month pass is $98 which works out to be around $30/month. Youth and Senior passes available at a discounted rate. The centre opens Monday-Friday 6am-9:45pm and Saturday-Sunday 8am-8:45pm. Also, the fitness centre is usually open on holidays unlike some other places. No excuses now people - get your pump on! Overall great fitness centre but it does get a little crowded and occasionally slightly smelly when its peak gym times. Regardless, it's a great fitness centre that offers a lot towards your health, fitness and goal in becoming the next Arnold! So get your sweat and reps on fellow Yelpers! ;) FYI: Wi-fi available at TCC, just ask the front desk for the password!

We received the last few passes to attend the class and rushed upstairs to attend. Our instructor waited a few minutes for everyone to get settled before beginning the class and just like that we were off. As one song became another and the sweat started flowing it was apparent that our instructor really enjoyed the music and leading the class. It certainly didn't come naturally to me but in this case I think it's all about the rhythm, enjoyment and exercise. I would absolutely return for another class here. I currently possess a library of 700+ books. It's safe to say, i'm a full fledged bibliophile. And i'm damn proud of my collection. I've got the Booker prize winners since my year of birth (personally mission to read), almost all the Nobel Literature laureates in the same time frame, CBC Reads authors, Giller Prize winners and even a few of Oprah's picks. I've got a couple shelves of poetry; a good collection of coffee table books and a cupboard of doubles - perfect for any house warming/dinner party/birthday gift. My library largely came together in the last three years and in its entirety, should have cost me thousands to assemble. Except it didn't. And after getting scolded by my mother for keeping quiet about a good cause, i'll explain why: The White Rock Rotary Book Sale. Hold on now. Don't roll your eyes. I know what you're thinking but this isn't an ordinary book sale full of old text books, cookbooks and bad romance novels (though, if that's your cup of tea, they have those too). No no, this is a magical land where you can find the greatest of authors in almost pristine condition. I've found Jose Saramago's Blindness in mint condition hard cover. About 8 perfect copies of The English Patient (the non-movie cover); not to mention every other title from Mr. Ondaatje. An old school version of 100 Years of Solitude before they started with the hokey covers... the list goes on and on and on. The first time my mother and I went, we left with two boxes each. Over 250 books. Because here's the best part: Not only is this for a great cause. And has a great selection. But it's $3 a book or 3 for $5. GGAAAHHHHHH!!!!! We're so notorious at this sale, that not only do they know both of us by name, but the exceptionally helpful club members occasionally set aside authors they know I like and pass on "HA HA beat you to it!" messages when my mother gets there before me. In fact, they not only help you look for whatever title you happen to be seeking but if they DON'T have it, they will take your information and call you after the sale if they come across it while sorting through the new used books. Why? Because these are the NICEST PEOPLE IN EXISTENCE. My mother and I are so obsessed with this book sale of mythical proportions that we arrange work and travel dates around it. It's serious business. So i'm telling you...still slightly begrudgingly...but i'm telling you because these are fabulous people, hosting a fabulous GEM of a booksale for a fabulous cause. And you should support them. I'm going to get there before you anyway. PS. For those with little ones (or the aunties & uncles with little ones to spoil): they have a decent collection of children's books available "by donation."
