The room was very spacious and comfortable, with ours overlooking the cobbled main street down the hill. Our breakfast was excellent, as was all the food. With essentially a gourmet restaurant and a gastropub at the bottom of the stairs, there really was no reason to go elsewhere in the evenings. Seriously, try the 3ft of Cumberland Sausage prepare to head to sausage heaven. Within Haworth, it is perfectly situated. You're a minute's walk away from the Bronte Museum, at the top end of Main Street with its tea rooms and shops and about five minutes walk from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. If you want to hike on the moors, out to Top Withens and the like, this is a perfect spot. With the free car parking, either on-site or in the nearby Changegate car park (don't forget your permit!), you're also straight onto the main roads out of Haworth. If you're looking for somewhere to stay, this place is fantastic.

My only comments were the kettle in my room was dirty inside so I didn't use it. The toilet paper has no holder so I wasn't sure if I wanted to hold the toilet paper which the previous person was holding. The old fashioned keys require you to lock each time you leave and enter the room. Also there isn't a dedicated space to hold your luggage should you want to visit the town after you check out but luckily we had a car to put our luggage in. Everything else was perfect!

There is no visible on-site security and guest floors are accessible by an open main staircase. Anyone can walk in off the street and go right up. Parking is now a public access lot that requires a specific app to use, which is a bit of a nightmare. The property is in a bit of general disrepair and neglect. Attention to detail is lacking in cleaning and maintenance. It appears there was once a mini fridge in the room but it's been removed and is just an empty space. Staff are generally disinclined to do more than the bare minimum.

You see, the key to winning my heart is by satisfying my continually demanding tummy. But how did 42 The Calls know this? Once I made it through the check in procedure, I walked into my room and it was like trick-or-treating around every corner! -Free shortbread, made and date stamped by mysterious Nigel, whom I now want to marry. -Free bottled water on the corner table -Free tasty fudge caramels on the desk -Free free-trade teas and coffee in the closet -Free box of Smarties that magically appeared at the end of my bed -And when I passed through the lobby again, free wine on the way out. (And back in. It was delicious!) I woke the next morning to free breakfast that involved cereals, fresh fruits and preserves, granola, fresh bread, bananas, apples, coffee, tea, heaven, heaven, heaven. So that this hotel review is not completely based on the free food factor, I must say that the bed is like sleeping on a cloud, the room is spacious with fun authentic features like exposed beams and large wooden window shutters, the location couldn't be better, the wifi is fast and free, and the staff (especially the twins!) are kind, helpful and extremely efficient. If all those things didn't win you over, the room key (yep, it's an actual key, not a card) comes on a large wooden kitty, and the bathroom soap is in the shape of a little tree frog, perched up on a washcloth. That alone is worth 5 stars.

But occasionally, I find a place like 42 The Calls that just beckons me to return. And return I did this week to find the same warm welcome, super shortbread and wonderful wifi that's both free and reliable. I had a much smaller room on this visit, but it still looked out upon the river and I liked it just as much as the bigger one I had last time. I should also say that no Smarties materialized but I didn't miss them. Well, until just now... Ideal hotel if you're bringing a car and don't want to negotiate driving in the city centre or paying a fortune for parking. Parking up and staying on the outskirts of Manchester, a city very well served by public transport, is the answer. Metrolink is brilliant and and an-all weekend tram ticket from 6pm on Friday is just £5.80. Win win win!

We took a taxi here from Manchester Picadilly and it took around 10 minutes. We got a 2 twin room and it was spacious, the washroom was big. They provided real hand soap which is a nice touch along with shampoo and body soap. The air conditioning was working well and was super cold when we first stepped in. Service was great, no complaints. There is free parking for the drivers as well. Salford Quays is a really lovely area as well.

However, sandwiches were a bit of a let down - for a hefty price tag you would expect that the venue will match the good to the menu - however, there was no rye bread, rocket leaves, also we couldn't taste any truffle in the we sandwich (although the flavour was declared on the menu).

We called in the bar/restaurant one sunday afternoon and the atmosphere was relaxing, with the service being okay and the drinks prices being what you would expect (not cheap, not expensive). The kitchen area is open, and though we didn't eat you can tell the food would be nice from here. If there is one critism I would make it's the menu on the side of the building - it's very badly printed and barely legible (hardly cosmopolitan). Other than this Cosmopolitan offers a good place to start your night out in Leeds centre.

The Golden Lion is a budget hotel that charges probably a little more than it should, purely due to it's convenient location. It is about 5 minutes from the main train station and 10 from the bus and coach interchange. It is mostly popular with tourists, visitors to the city for events, theatre, graduation or hen and stag do's. That said it is not rowdy and is very modern inside. The rooms are very clean and modern, towels changed daily. They have Sky TV and clean, airy bathrooms with good showers. The breakfasts are excellent, as are the evening meals, and the staff both reception and serving are very polite and willing to help whatever your query. I would recommend this hotel as a good city centre base but probably not for business visitors as it is a more casual hotel than say the Hilton or the Queens. But for tourists it is an ideal place to stay at a mid range price.

From having a quick look round it's not my exact type of taste, however, I do think it looks incredibly comfortable and would be much to the taste of many looking for a quiet spot to stay in whilst they visit Leeds. Breakfast is good and the staff friendly if a little inefficient. Be aware, turning into this hotel may result in taking a chunk of your car out and leaving on the brick work of the entrance gate.

The hotel with its large bar open to the public is just across from Glossop train station and I didn't even realise it was a hotel until I actually thought how big it was. There are two bar areas, comfortable seating and - most importantly - a cracking atmosphere. The troupe of babies and girlfriends, and family members that were present for the couple of time I've been here didn't even overshadow the usual patrons of The George. And that is saying something. Nice and old fashioned... Values that is. Friendly staff, good food, good people. There's nothing better for a pub like this to be the pick of the locals.
