We brought our pup here for shots and spay. The appointment setting is the only thing that is challenging otherwise once you get your appointment,it is a 5 out of 5 experience. Everything went so well she was in minimal discomfort after surgery, her incision healed beautifully.The cherry on top of the experience is the over 1000 dollars I saved by bringing her here instead of the local Vet that quoted me a starting price of 1300 dollars because she is a brachiocephalic breed and could have gone up because they said if challenges arose they could not guarantee the price. I have been a customer for since about 2012 and have had very bad experiences with some of the front desk representatives. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the customer service at this location. They are rude and give you attitude for simply being there. Almost as if you "the customer" are an inconvenience to them when in fact, they are there to help you and your pet. I called today to get a copy of my original prescription written for NEXGUARD (flea and tick), I provided medication name and the quantity as previously listed on the prescription they have on their end.. I called at 3:45pm and the girl took everything down, told me I would get a call within 24 hrs to go pick it up. Shortly after at 4:24pm (5 minutes before they close) I get a call which I am unable to answer due to work with a voicemail stating they need the medication information and quantity (for how long). I attached images of both calls and the voicemail a worker left me as documented proof. These little details and simple requests should not be this tedious, it is very disheartening to see and hear those girls be rude and dismissive of one's request. Extremely disappointing experience - unfair and inconsistent treatment Our experience with the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley was extremely disappointing. We went in to schedule veterinary appointments for our three dachshund puppies for October 1, 2026. We were told we needed to pay a $40 deposit per dog, totaling $120. The exam itself is also $40 per dog. The biggest issue is that we have scheduled multiple dogs with them in the past and were never required to pay this deposit. We don't understand why we were suddenly being charged differently this time. We weren't trying to avoid paying for veterinary services. We simply wanted an explanation. We asked to see the policy because we could not find it on their website. Christina Marin, Director of Operations, told us they did not have to show us anything or provide documentation. We then asked if we could simply schedule one dog. We were told we could not even do that without paying $40 for an appointment in October. We also observed other customers scheduling individual pets without being required to pay a deposit, which added to our concern about the inconsistent treatment. Rather than receiving a straightforward explanation, the situation escalated. Mike, whom HSSBV identified as its Humane Officer, was brought into the situation and told us to leave or police would be called. When I questioned what was happening and asked whether what they were doing was legal, Mike responded, "Don't quit your day job to become an attorney." I have video documenting portions of the interaction. We then attempted to speak with Executive Director Jill Henderson and contacted Board President Val Cornwell because we wanted someone outside the immediate situation to review what happened. We never received a response from Val. Jill later told us that the Board had already reviewed the matter and supported the decision to ban us. How could the Board have meaningfully reviewed our concerns so quickly when we had not been given an opportunity to explain our side? We were also told that a certified letter had been sent regarding termination of our client relationship. To be clear, this isn't about a $40 deposit. It's about why we were suddenly treated differently, why we couldn't get a clear explanation or see the policy being relied upon, why we were denied even a single appointment after asking for clarification, and why a simple question escalated into being removed and banned. Customers should be able to ask reasonable questions about fees and policies without being treated as though they have done something wrong. We left feeling disrespected, dismissed, and unfairly treated. Response to Jill: Jill, you were not present during the interaction either. We specifically asked to speak with you so you could hear our concerns directly, but you did not come out to speak with us. Because you were not there, it is difficult to understand how you can make definitive statements about what I did or did not witness or exactly how the interaction unfolded. You received your staff's account. We have our firsthand account, and portions are documented on video. Regarding your statement that I did not witness other clients making appointments without deposits: you cannot tell me what I personally witnessed when you were not there either. You were not standing next to me and did not personally observe what I observed. You also stated that we behaved inappropriately and refused to leave. Those are serious allegations. If HSSBV is relying on them to justify banning us, they should be supported by actual documentation. If there is surveillance footage, incident reports, employee statements, or other records that contradict our account, preserve them. The evidence can speak for itself. The Board review also remains concerning. We contacted the Board because we wanted an independent review. You responded shortly afterward saying the Board had already reviewed the matter and supported the decision. Since we had not been given an opportunity to provide our side, it is reasonable to ask what was reviewed, by whom, when, and what information was considered. Finally, telling us to go elsewhere if we don't like the deposit policy does not address our concern. Asking questions about a policy is not the same as refusing to follow it. We were asking why the policy appeared to be applied differently than it had been in our previous experiences and asked to see the policy being relied upon. You were not there. We were. If HSSBV stands by its version of events, then let the records, video, surveillance, and firsthand accounts establish what actually happened. read more

I went to the Humane Society this morning at 8:25am the staffed opened the doors a few mins after 8:30am and allowed people with appointments to sign in after they were finished they allowed the walk ins to sign in and so I did. After I signed in I asked a staff member at the front desk if I should make an appointment or just wait for my puppies to be seen but a rude flamboyant curly haired male said I need to wait my turn to make an appointment. I went and took a seat and waited for my name to be called and when he called me up they said they weren't taking walks in so I asked when was the soonest appointment I could make for my 3 puppies (all I wanted was a prescription to order a flea prevention online) he then said if it's for 2 or more dogs I need to pay a DEPOSIT and I asked how much is the deposit and he said $40 each dog and I had asked how is that a deposit if the appointment cost is $40 each pet so they wanted me to pay $120 up front today 9/9/26 for their soonest appointment in Oct.1.26 and I ask to speak to a supervisor because it made no sense to call it a "deposit" when it's the entire appointment fee his reasoning was because it's their policy since they have too many no call no shows. Which made no sense so Christina Marin came to the front and said "it's their policy" mind you I've read their policies and the only policy they have on their website for a deposit is $35 for euthanasia Christina kept demanding I pay $120 she was extremely rude she had an attitude when I had asked her to show me the policy she refused and then I said okay "I'll just book an appointment for one dog only" Christina then responded saying "No we are not doing today, you will still need to pay $40 for the one dog" and I told her but your policy for a deposit was for 2 or more dogs I no longer wanted to book my appointment for multiple dogs I just wanted one dog and she refused service so I requested to speak to someone higher which was Jill Henderson they said she wasn't available and called the police on me so as I wait the staffed continued to be rude the security officer was making rude comments and telling me "not to quit my day job to be an attorney" when I asked why are they refusing service. I called Jill and left her two voice mails because I was in disbelief how RUDE her staff is and tried reaching out to someone to get clarification on why NO ONE ELSE NEEDS TO PAY up front for 1 pet when in the end I just wanted to make an appointment for 1 pet instead of 3 but she emailed me back saying I was harassing her. Don't waste your time at this facility it's a joke. They are demanding full payment up front and calling it a deposit and telling you the appointment is next month. Which is absurd.. Jill didn't return my call. I recorded the entire incident at no point was I aggressive like the staff members. I highly recommend going to HIGHLAND VILLAGE PET HOSPITAL first time appointment is $30 and for an appointment after that it's $50 the staff is better than the human society staff. The service is horrible. When they neutered my dog, they cuts his toenails and caused my dog's toe to get infected. When I went back for help, supervisor accused me tampering with his bandages while never taking responsibility for the infection. My poor dog had to go to repeat appointments for the infection that the clinic caused and I ended paying hundreds of dollars more than expected. Because of their terrible service he had to get an amputation. Costing me a lot of money. Please take your animal somewhere better. You don't want to end up like I did with my dog. I reached out today because my mom's dog is very sick, and I was told this organization is compassionate and helpful in situations like this. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. When I spoke with Eric, he was extremely rude and dismissive. He didn't take the time to explain anything clearly, including potential costs or options. Instead, I was simply told they couldn't help and would refer me elsewhere. In a stressful situation with a very sick dog, a little compassion and communication would have gone a long way. Sadly, I didn't receive either. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place. read more

Please read before you try making a spay neuter appointment! Once you know what to expect it's not as stressful! I've trusted them for spaying all my pets and even my sister's! It's been a total of 2 spays and 3 neuters for both dogs and cats. The good thing is once you have your appointment everything else is easy! They book their spay/ neuter appointments only on the first Monday of the month. Their appointments are for a month out and surgeries are for M-F. The fee for surgery does not include anything else. Pain meds, IV fluids, collar, and post surgery sedatives are all optional for ~$10 each. When you book the surgery they require a $50 deposit for dogs. They require up to date vaccines for DA2PP and Rabies. If your pet isn't fully vaccinated they will vaccinate day of surgery for an additional ~$30 fee. They do not accept past vaccine records that are stickers or booklets, they will have to vaccinate again day of surgery. They need to see a paper invoice from a licensed vet facility. If you've gotten all your shots done here they will pull up your account through your phone number. If you have gotten them elsewhere I recommend having a folder of them to bring day of so you don't forget them at home! They do nail trims under surgery for free! Microchipping is $32 and I also recommend trying to remove any extra teeth or toes while being spayed! They will for an additional fee but just remind the vet tech before they take your baby back! They only book appointments the first Monday of the month in person or over the phone. If you can, take the day off and have more than one person trying to book the same appointment. Bring coffee, waters, a chair, a portable charger if you might need it, and an umbrella if it's sunny. Do what you can to get comfortable because it'll take most of the morning! I recommend staying in line and calling at the same time. They open the gates at 7:30 AM but don't open up for business until 8:30 AM. I've arrived at 6:30 AM to already see a line! The Humane Society parking lot fills up fast and the line for appointments will wrap around the parking lot! They have people coming in for regular vet appointments also! If you want to wait in your car before the gate opens you have to be on Arrowhead Ave to not block traffic. I would get there early, park at Bowlero, and stand/ sit in line at the gates. If you stand at the gate on Orange Show just know both gates open up at the same time! I've waited on one side just to be beat by people from the other side! Once they finally do open up everyone will race towards the Cat Entrance to get in line. They will have a sign on which side to go to for making the spay and neuter appointment! One line is for dog surgery check in, one for cat surgery check in, and the longest will be for making the appointment. They start taking calls close to 8:30 but if there is too many callers your call will drop or just repeat the same message. You are not in the queue unless you hear the health warnings about animal poisonings. If at any point you hear a message on entering an extension or going to the company directory that means your call is not in the queue and I suggest hanging up. I have gone early and waited in line just to be seen first over the phone. But just in case you can't get into the queue stay in line! They let groups of 5 people in at a time. They are doing surgery check ins at the same time so they don't tend to let people in until most of those are done around 8:30-8:45. The fastest I've made an appointment has been 3 hours! It's easiest if you already have an account with them but if not it only takes 5 minutes for them to create one for you. read more

While I was struggling to say something without breaking down, the receptionist remained utterly cool, allowing me to compose myself. The staff does not rush you when you're saying goodbye to your pet. They are compassionate and kind. I can't say enough good things about the humane society. These people are wonderful. read more

The front desk staff were compassionate and professional. They explained the process and let me know there was one appointment ahead of mine. The receptionist stated I might need to wait a bit as they don't like to rush anyone during such a difficult time, which I truly appreciated. However, once the vet tech called us back everything shifted. She seemed rushed and was very short with us. After my pet passed, she told me to be "mindful" of my time in the room because others were waiting. It felt incredibly insensitive. I had only been in the room for about five minutes when I stepped out to speak with the receptionist about the Pet Cemetery. While I was doing that, my husband and son came out carrying our dog, wrapped in a towel. He told me the tech seemed irritated they were still in the room and handed him our pet wrapped in a dingy towel, without a word or care. She told him "you could just leave". I've had to euthanize other pets before, and I've never been made to feel like my pet didn't matter, until now. To have my dog handed off in such a dismissive way was deeply upsetting. My appointment was at 2:20, and I waited nearly 40 minutes out of respect for those ahead of me to give them "time" with their pets, yet I wasn't given the same courtesy or time to grieve. It's heartbreaking to see someone lacking in empathy representing an organization meant to help animals, including one of the most painful moments of their lives. They're not just animals, they're family. I don't feel this tech gave my dog the respect he deserved. I can only hope she's not like this on a daily basis. If she truly lacks the compassion to work with animals, then maybe this isn't the job for her. read more

I honestly don't understand how they never answer their phones. I called right at 8 AM as soon as they opened, and of course they "have too many calls" to pick up. How do you have too many calls the second you open? I tried multiple times and got the same thing, no answer. Last year at least I was able to leave a voicemail. Even though they DID send me straight to Vm unlike what Jill the business owner stated. I would rather be able to leave a vm then automatically be shut down the moment you call by telling us to call back later to get a hold of someone. Now you can't leave a message, can't request a call back, and can't even stay on hold for a representative. What's the point of having a phone number if no one ever answers it? It really feels like they don't want to deal with patients. I've called at different times throughout the day and it's always "busy." I brought my dog there to put him down. They were very very supportive. my Dog and I were in a nice room with caretakers coming in and out. They supplied the first shot to him which settled him down. And then they came back in and gave him the final shot. I was able to be with him all the time, but I did have the option of not being there. They helped me load him to my car and blankets. Then I drove the Gateway cemetery and had him cremated. Every person I ran across were very, very supportive of this very emotional time. And you paid with donations at the Humane Society. I have been going to Humane Society for many years now for various animal needs. I have an Animal rescue that I do on my own, I Foster and I do T & R. I have a dog that is 14 years old with cancer. I placed an appointment 12 days ago for euthanasia but because my dog was doing fairly good, I asked to reschedule. I've only rescheduled once after that and then moved it to today. But he's still doing pretty good so I tried to move the appointment forward a little bit more and the manager "Christina" said that they are "not at my beck and Call". Can you believe that? And she refused to book us! I already have an appointment to bring six cats in for spay/neutering in January. They have my $134 deposit for that appointment and I'm seriously re-thinking that now because she was so rude on the phone. I tried to discuss with her my situation and she said she was going to hang up the phone because she doesn't want to argue! I wasn't even arguing! I was simply trying explain my situation. My dog's condition is up and down due to his illness and I'm trying to be proactive to have an appointment ready in case he gets to that time when he's ready. I don't want him to suffer waiting to get in. But I guess they don't care!! They now require a deposit for euthanasia when they used to just take donations. Every time we've brought a pet in for euthanasia we always donated $50-$100 every time. We've always loved and referred their services to everybody because we thought they did a great job. But my whole opinion of them is completely changed now after speaking to this woman on the phone. She was so rude. And it's the holidays too...simply terrible!!! I have been taking my cat to humane society in San Bernardino every month for two years. He has had all his shots there as well as monthly nail trimming. Today they told me he would have to be medicated before they would trim his nails again. I did not see what happened because they took him to the back. But when I got home with him, large clumps of hair came off his neck And he seemed traumatized. Winston is well behaved with a particular technician but she wasn't there today. There prices are reasonable but I do not want to medicate my cat every time he gets his nails trimmed. I can hold him, while they trim his nails. I'm not happy because they did not trim any of his front claws and scheduled him for an exam with their vet to get the medication, instead of giving him the medication before trimming his nails again. I was astonished and so genuinely happy that they were so nice and understanding and compassionate! I know the struggle of working in any type of clinic and I know they work hard and are often getting the short end of the stick but they showed us so much compassion and were very professional. We are so happy we came here instead of a random vet for the service. Additionally they do not charge for euthanize service at this time but take donations. I am very happy with my experience here. I have come to get my dogs neutered and spayed and they have done an excellent job. Also, I come to get my dogs their vaccines. It's easy to make an appointment over the phone and I like that they send me a text to remind me when they are due. I've gotten my dogs to have a health check also and one of my dogs has major anxiety and claws up walls and gets uncontrollable... the vet prescribed some anxiety medication for her and it helps a lot for when I have to take her to the vet or when she gets very anxious like that. My family has been taking our dogs here forever. The staff are always helpful and compassionate. My 3 dogs that have passed all got care here and were euthanized here and they sent us cards after the passing, it was very sweet Our current dog got his shots here and was neutered here on 5/1 and was taken great care of by all the staff! The only downside of coming to the humane society is the wait time. You may need to dedicate a whole day for your pet if you choose care here. But it is definitely worth it! read more

Catastrophic and terrible service. I made an appointment three weeks in advance for a vaccination. When I get there, they have me wait 40 minutes during a work day, telling me that they'll get to me soon. Then they say I was moved into the walk-in list which would take two to three hours. Completely unacceptable. This clearly resulted from incompetence from their part since there were around 20 to 30 people in their waiting room - they obviously scheduled way too many people and just started punting people. Clearly they have zero respect for anyone's time. Forget ever going here if you are employed, which you presumably have to be since their services aren't cheap. Never going here again. They could be the last source of animal services in the state and I wouldn't return since I probably won't get seen anyways (I guess I'd make a Nevada trip.) It is absolutely impossible to schedule an appointment on the phone with these people. I have called the 2nd day of this month, January 2nd because on their website it says they accept spay and neuter appointments in person and on the phone at the beginning of the month. I call multiple times EXACTLY at the time they open. 8:30 AM only to be left with "there are a lot of calls please try again later" How can there be so many calls right when they open first off. Secondly, I continue calling them from 8:30 AM all the way to 12 PM only to recieve the same thing and put on hold 3 times for 17 minutes, only for it to say the same thing once again "there a lot of calls call again later." I eventually gave up because I was wasting my time not even being able to talk to a real human being. Only operated messages. I do my research and people say they accept calls first monday of the month. So i call for hours on Monday, not to my surprise, same thing happens, i don't talk to a single human being, there is literally no way for me to be able to speak to a real person, only to be put on hold or not talk to anyone at all. This is something these people need to truly fix because it is very upsetting trying to make an appointment for my dog and wasting hours of my time trying to talk to someone, if you aren't going to accept calls maybe don't have that on your website, I tried pressing different buttons on the calls too, same thing. This really sucks because i live in victorville and this is the closest Humane society to me, it is 40 minutes away. They are only open on weekdays which i work every weekday. Brought my dog in to be spayed, and the saying is true, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, my regular vet doesn't spay dogs over 15lbs so I tried here as no other vets in my area took care of larger dogs either. If you're looking for techs that are as loving and compassionate as your neighborhood veterinarian, this isn't your place. The girls at the front desk are friendly and organized, but the techs leave something to be desired. When I picked up my girl, she had dried poop in her fur all over her bum and one of her back paws. I was highly disappointed to say the least. I was told to pick her up after 1 and I showed up at 130 to get her so it wasn't like I left her for hours on end to warrant that kind of treatment. As far as cleanliness goes, the clinic appeared to be pretty clean and taken care of. I wish I had better things to say, but I also wish I had a better experience, so oh well. read more
