Our daughter attended The Hummingbirds for 9 months from age 17 months to 26 months and we were so happy with the care the entire time (the only reason we left was because we were already planning on starting her in preschool). As first time parents, we were nervous about putting her in daycare, but she did not cry at a single drop off and instead was resistant to leaving at pickup. She had a blast every day and completely thrived. Her language and motor skills developed immensely and she would often come home singing and requesting new songs I had never heard of. One thing that stands out about Adela is her thoroughness. She sent SO many pictures and videos throughout the day and noticed every little detail about my daughter (like a rash, how much she ate, etc.) that she would make sure to inform me about with so many detailed updates. Adela is so loving and fun with the kids and I felt confident knowing she always had eyes on my daughter and truly cared about her. Our daughter has been with Adela for the past 2 years and she truly has thrived in her care. We have watched her grow from a toddler to a now big kid (inset some happy tears here) while she was with Adela. Adela sets up the day with a overarching schedule of free play, reading, snack time, lunch time, naps, and free play until pick up time. She also provides all snacks and lunches for the kids which is so nice because we don't have to pack that for our daughter. Adela also helped us potty train our daughter which was amazing! She tried once, was able to gauge it was too soon and then tried again a few months later which was a great success! Our daughter learned in less than a week that second attempt. She's so patient and also just really fun and energetic with the kiddos. We are sad that we have to leave hummingbirds because our daughter is going to kinder, but we would definitely recommend Adela to anyone who is looking for a daycare for their 18 month old to 4 year old! Our daughter absolutely loved Adela! We've moved on to a pre-school now, but she'll still say, "I want to go see Dela!" Adela has a very clean, fun facility with a great indoor and outdoor space for the children. The Hummingbirds is a one-of-a-kind place for little ones to thrive. Our daughter started at The Hummingbirds just before she turned 2, and even though our previous child care was wonderful, we could immediately tell that Adela brought out the best in our daughter and the other kids too! In just a half day she adjusted to the new setting and formed those precious bonds. It was telling that we would pick her up and every day she was happy and excited to go back. She made friends, learned social skills (a godsend for a baby born during the pandemic), and made leaps in her development. Aside from being great for the kids, Adela was somehow able to keep parents updated about the kids' activities and precious moments throughout the day. Even more impressive was that she is just as energetic and positive at the beginning of the day as she is at the end of the day - not an easy task watching kids for a full day. We only left due to a move out of the area but we still talk about how we wish there was a Hummingbirds in our new city. It speaks volumes that kids come back just to say hi, and that younger siblings take the places of big brothers/sisters who move on to school. Adela is an absolute gem and exudes passion and love for children. She is kind, thoughtful, and a genuinely wonderful person. Adela is amazing with kids, we toured several day cares before we settled on Hummingbirds and Adela is our top reason to choose Humming Birds. Adela is full of energy to match the energy of the kids. For parents, Adela is very responsive with our queries and always provides very detailed information about how our kid was during the day. She is fun, playful, and has a great sense of humor with the kiddos. Our daughter was happy to see her each morning, which coupled with the ample parking and easy access, made morning drop offs a breeze. Ms. Adela's home is well organized, safe, and clean. The children's designated space is set up like a classroom complete with a playhouse, developmentally appropriate toys, library, child-sized furniture and more! The beautiful outdoor space features a play structure, a wide assortment of kid trikes, playhouse, child-sized outdoor seating, and much more! Ms. Adela rotates activities daily, which offers the children novelty and piqued interest. Ms. Adela serves well-balanced kid-friendly healthy meals. Fresh fruit and vegetables are offered daily. No need to pack a lunch, which in our case was a lifesaver! At pick-up, our daughter was happy! She loved her time playing, singing, crafting, and learning with her friends and teacher. But not only was she happy, she was clean. It may sound silly but for me, it meant a lot that she came home with clean hands, a clean face, a wiped nose (if necessary), and everything she came with (no lost belongings). Her day was filled with meaningful learning experiences, including art, water, and outdoor play but the only evidence was her smile! An added bonus of Ms. Adela's small program and commitment to cleanliness and healthy habits is the reduced frequency the children get sick. Young children inevitably get sick, but thanks to Ms. Adela's high standards for cleanliness and small size, it is far less often than most programs. Although Hummingbirds was more costly than other options we considered, the amount we saved in reduced sick time was invaluable. Ms. Adela is a natural with young children. However, she is also excellent with parents. She is easy to communicate with in-person and over email. She sends precious pictures of your child daily and is responsive to email on evenings and weekends, which certainly wasn't expected but greatly appreciated. We feel extremely fortunate that Ms. Adela was our daughter's first teacher. She made it easy for us to leave our most beloved creation in her care. We chose Hummingbirds after visiting 40 daycares in the city. Our daughter thrived here (19 months to 36 months), Adela is exceptionally loving, caring and energetic care giver. My daughter also very much enjoyed doing all the fun projects with Idania. Now that my daughter is graduated and in a preschool, I miss receiving daily pictures and videos of my daughter (yes, Adela sends a bunch almost everyday) and the warm and healthy lunches and snacks Adela provided everyday (it is so much work to pack snacks and lunch). The space is amazing at Hummingbirds too - a huge, bright and open living room and family room where kids can be comfortable and spread out... and the huge private backyard and the side yard where kids can play in sand box and in play structure whenever weather is good. Our son has LOVED going to The Hummingbirds for the past year. We visited several day care facilities in our search and Hummingbirds was the clear winner. The energy is upbeat and you can tell the kids are very happy. The place is always clean and organized and parking is right in front for easy drop-off and pick-up. The kids have structured time indoors and outdoors with lots of room to run around and explore. Adela, the owner, is very warm with the kids and has lots of energy. She sends updates and photos and always keeps us informed how our son is progressing. Idania is her assistant and is also very warm and great with the kids. Our daughter went to this lovely family daycare for about two years from 18 months old. Adela and her team truly love little ones and took great care, and really acted as an extension of our family. Our 2 year old son has been attending The Hummingbirds since early 2018 and it's been fantastic. We moved him over from a daycare in Outer Sunset after moving to Ingleside so we had a point of reference for an in home daycare. Adela is the owner and is the primary care provider, she has one helper named Idania. Adela is a very caring, professional, energetic and positive influence on the kids. I'm amazed how she keeps her energy level up! Within a few weeks of joining our son was doing new things and learning a lot. It's a great blend of play and learning (mostly books and creative toys) and we love the fact that they go outside almost everyday and play in the back or side yard. Adela keep us updated throughout the day with cute videos and pictures. She very open and honest with communication. The parents of the other children are great, we've made friends with some and have been invited to birthday parties and other events. It's a diverse blend of children. Adela, Idania, and her crew are simply phenomenal. Our son spent two years with them (1.5-3.5) and thrived. Adela has a fantastic approach. She's loving, warm, and caring, yet also knows how to set firm boundaries and teach young children how to handle conflict and develop self-confidence in interacting with one another and adults. Safety and health are top priorities for her and she worked super effectively with us when our son would get sick. Not only did she care for our son, she cared for us and became an extended part of our family. We were lucky enough to find such a caring, clean, enjoyable and educational environment for our son, Maxwell. He was there from age 2 to 3.5. He's not there anymore only because he's in preschool. He got up every morning excited to meet and play with all his friends. The indoor area is inviting, spacious and clean. The backyard is large enough to contain a sandpit, trees, plants, a play structure and a little house for the kids to explore. He learned so much while there--singing songs, playing together, sharing, enjoying stories, becoming more independent. Adela, the owner, and her staff, Idania, truly love and care for all the children. I always appreciated all the photos Adela would send daily showing how my child was spending his day. Often, at pickup time he would ask to stay. He still asks to see Adela because he says he misses her and his Hummingbirds family. That's truly what it was, because she made us all feel like family. She made herself available to the parents regarding any and all concerns including potty training. And, I was also thankful that they provided a nutritious lunch and snacks. She created a warm, wonderful, joyous place. I had complete confidence leaving my son in her care for eight hours each day. The Hummingbirds was our son's very first daycare experience (20 months- 2.5 yrs) and we couldn't have been happier with the care he received from Adela and her team. As most parents we were nervous to leave our child in someone else's care but they made the transition so easy - sending pics and updates about his day and offering him extra TLC when he needed it. Adela is very thoughtful about cultivating a nurturing environment for the kids and providing stimulating materials for them to explore - helping to develop their curiosity, motor skills, creativity, and relationships. It's time to re-up our review of The Hummingbirds because our daughter now attends Adela's daycare as well. Adela is marvelous and we couldn't recommend The Hummingbirds more highly. Adela has been in this business for decades, and has honed her craft during that time. She is compassionate and caring with the children, professional and exceptional with parent communication also. Adela makes things easy for parents and for the kids. She nurtures social skills in the children, but she also helped us with toilet training, putting on shoes, manners, outbursts etc. Although we live in San Francisco, Adela's Daly City home/location is very convenient with very easy access to 280 and Hwy 1. Our daughter has been at Humminbirds since she was 18 mos old and has been so happy there. The environment is clean, fun and cheerful. There are always two activities already set up everyday when we get there at 8, and the kids go outside twice a day. There is a huge backyard with lots of play structures, trees to climb, toys and sandbox. There is also a sheltered patio with rocking horses and toy cars the kids can "drive" around in. Inside there are two big rooms with a reading corner, play kitchen and "dining table" for the kids to gather at, and a train set, plus dress up clothes/shoes/sunglasses. It really feels like Adela has thought of every fun thing a kid would want to do and has that ready for them. She rotates things so they never get old. Adela is also super good at keeping in touch all day, sending photos and videos of the kids playing, or being cute, etc. She provides lunch and two healthy snacks, and the kids eat together all sitting around a big table. Also, the neighborhood is very calm and not busy, so there's always tons of parking for pick up and drop off, and it's never ever a hassle. Adela really takes care of the kids with so much love, affection and detail, it's amazing to me, and I'm so grateful we found her! read more

Adela and her staff are very loving and reliable people. Whenever I come to pick my daughter up, I am greeted with an energetic smile from someone on the Hummingbirds staff. My daughter has a sixth sense for people and is extremely attached to me. The fact that she feels so comfortable with everyone at Hummingbirds and comes home to tell us every day that she had a "good & great day!" truly speaks volumes about this place. Our kids attended The Hummingbirds for about 2.5 years each, and they both truly loved it. Adela and Idania are fantastic - warm, loving, nurturing, and fun! It was a great place for our kids to have their first daycare experience. From the first day, Adela took great care to make sure they were comfortable and secure in their new environment, starting with a few hours and half days before working their way up to full days. We really appreciated the care she took with the initial transition, and then saw her exhibit the same care and attention to all of the kids day in and day out. She creates a really inviting space for the kids, full of activity and learning, as well as comfort and love. She's also great about staying connected to the parents, sending pictures and updates from time to time and helping with advice and support when needed. We had total peace of mind knowing our kids were in her care, and our kids really thrived while there. my daughter went to hummingbirds when it was located in noe valley and thrived there. she loved it and we never found another daycare that matched the level of love, excitement and care what she had when she attended hummingbirds. adela was always excited to see the kids and put me at ease when our daughter was having issues with the transition of a new baby brother. great communicator! when we moved to the east coast adela even checked in with us to see how we were doing. loved that place!!! read more
