We stayed in several very nice places in Scotland, but the Invernairne Hotel easily tops them all. The photos really don't do justice to the warm, beautiful rooms and manicured gardens. We booked the Firthside on the ground floor, and it was like something out of a movie: spacious room, gorgeous four-poster bed that was sinfully comfortable, incredible garden and sea view, a huge modern bathroom with a deliciously deep whirlpool tub, etc. However, the charm of the Invernairne is not all about your room. Camilla and Ryan obviously care passionately about their hotel and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. In the evenings, we took full advantage of their amazing common area with a huge, well-stocked bar and crackling fire. It was a quick, easy walk to a couple of highly rated restaurants (such as The Classroom), so we actually returned our rental car early and enjoyed walking down to the beach and around Nairn. (I'm far from athletic, so when I say it's a quick, easy walk, it really is.) The Invernairne was almost too peaceful and beautiful to leave, but we will definitely return. read more
