The server and the atmosphere was really nice. They also had some live music which was very nice as well. There are not enough gluten free options - I had to be creative with what I ordered. They have gluten free rolls if you want a sandwich but everything else will have gluten, thus the Cesar salad without the croutons. It's very pricey as well. My side salad and side order of the Boxty potatoes came to $19 before the tax. With tax and tip - $25. You could get other salads without croutons or wheat as well. I really wanted to try the vegetarian shepherds pie but couldn't because the server said there's wheat in the gravy. They have no gluten free beers as far as I could tell and no mocktails. I can definitely see the appeal of this place on a hot, sunny day, but for me it's more of a one-and-done experience. We were greeted right away when we walked in, which was a great start. However, after being seated on the patio, we waited about 20 minutes before a server came over. Drinks also took quite a while to arrive. I ordered a brown sugar bourbon cocktail, but it was disappointing--basically just tasted like straight bourbon with little to no flavor. For food, I tried the Reuben poutine appetizer ($20). Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the price. The cheese seemed very processed--hard to even describe, and definitely not what I expected. The fried Reuben itself was just okay, but overall it felt overpriced for what it was. In the end, I wouldn't necessarily discourage someone from trying it, but it's not somewhere I'd personally return to. Another St Patrick's Day dinner, another order of corned beef and cabbage, another satisfied customer! I decided to come on a day that wasn't the actual holiday or a day with live bands - I think having entertainment is fabulous but I'm frequently burned out and want a quiet environment. It was the perfect night for this. I was able to enjoy my holiday meal on a quiet evening and enjoy good conversation with my friend! Our waiter was great. Our food was delicious! They did switch the way the corned beef dinner was served this time ... for example, whole baby carrots versus sliced carrots, and halved baby potatoes versus mashed potatoes. But it was just as delicious and my only complaint would be I wish there were a larger portion of the potatoes/carrots/cabbage (and I wish I could order seconds but that's another story lol it's just so yummy!). I also enjoyed the seasonal lavender cocktail that was quite good! My friend got the shepherd's pie with no cheese and ate every bit. Came back for a repeat visit and glad we did! We sat at the back bar on a Friday night with live music and enjoyed the experience. I ordered an angry orchard cranberry which was so good and my fiancé tried a custom lavender cocktail equally delicious! I got the reuben and she the spicy pasta and both were very tasty with good portions. The fries with my reuben were salty and perfectly crispy! Our waiter /bartender Cody was very nice and helpful and we had a lovely evening. I am very glad that we came back to give the Irishman another try. My mom ordered the fish sandwich, our friend ordered the strawberry fields salad with added salmon, and I ordered the beef on weck egg rolls as my appetizer and an entree of Glen Falls Chicken dinner - two breaded & fried breasts topped with arugula salad and a side of colcannon potatoes. The fish & chicken dinners came quickly, and I burned my lip from the grease in the eggroll; however, the salad was missing the salmon when it arrived. Rather than leave the salad & bring the salmon separately, the salad was taken back to the kitchen, and our friend waited. And waited. My mom & I were more than halfway through our meals when the salad & salom finally arrived. Then our friend found a piece of hair in the salad. She spoke with the manager, who not only compensated the meal but also gave our friend a gift certificate to return at another time. Overall, the meal was good, the music was great, and the staff could have been more attentive. There were several staff members hanging out by the main door. Stopped in on a Friday night to have a fish fry and some conversation with family. It was a nice crowd. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the heat in the front, so you had to practically walk through the kitchen to get to the back to enjoy your meal. I've always appreciated the space this restaurant has ... especially in the summer months. They have a nice heated patio in the front and a patio in the rear. We've heard of this place for a while but never got to check it out. At one time, we also considered checking it out for a rehearsal dinner, but that never happened. This holiday season, we decided to check it out while we were in the area. It was very empty as it was an afternoon during the Xmas season. The staff was very friendly and attentive. As it was a bit chilly, my wife and I both decided to get two Irish beers, two beef stews (with the mashed potato add on), and talk about our past road trip through Ireland. We loved the decor of the place, our beer was good though a little pricier than we've paid for it elsewhere, but the reason for the low stars was the beef stew. The stew was completely like a pureed version of beef stew, with extremely tiny pieces of meat, potatoes, etc. You could feed this to an infant or a senior without worries. My wife and I joked that this was our liquid lunch. It was filling, though pureed, and we left with our stomachs just confused. Considering how close we live to this place, I would love to give this place another chance, though I will order something I can sink my teeth into. read more

They have a great cocktail list but very expensive for the amount of drink you get. $14 for a margarita which was 90% ice. It was gone in 5 sips... My husband bourbon smash drink came in a 6 oz glass filled with ice, he would have been better just getting a shot of whiskey for half the price. We would have ordered beers as a second drink if the service didn't take forever. But let's talk food... It was terrible. Honestly, terrible. The chicken fingers are just the typical frozen kind, the fish tacos were burnt in old oil, and the Reuben had hardly any meat on it, and when you could find some, it was rubbery. Each dish came with french fries... I usually swap for a different side, and I don't mind an upcharge, but $4 to swap your fries for a salad or different side?!? That's insanity! I tried to eat the fries but they were soooooo oversalted to try to hide the taste of the old oil. Honestly, horrible. Sucks the food was so bad for such a cool-looking place. Only mistake was when I received a bowl of beer cheese soup instead of the $5 cup add-on. I honestly didn't realize this until after the meal, but oh well, more soup is never a bad thing, right? The beer cheese soup was loaded with bacon, so bacon lovers, this may be up your alley. My friend was impressed that the bread in her French onion still had a crunch even towards the end. My friend had the fish fry, which she enjoyed. I liked that it was served with tartar sauce and thousand island (which I stole to dip my fries in). My Rachel hit the spot. I'm a big fan of the Reuben fillings, but the last time I had corned beef at the Irishman in East Aurora, it was greasy and fatty, so I figured I would opt for turkey. We stopped in here on a Friday afternoon for some early dinner outside on the patio with live music. We were early enough to get tables. The atmosphere is quite nice. It's a bit chaotic. Our server was lovely. The menu is OK but not extensive. The prices are certainly high for what you get. We had the nachos, it comes with fresh jalapeño slices, which I thought was great, but for some people might be a bit much. The wing prices are extremely high, and the wings are medium size at best. Our server came by frequently and made sure that we had everything we needed , I think I might go back just for the atmosphere, but the food was just average. My favorite thing about this "Irish Pub" is the fact that it isn't located in my neighborhood. That way I won't be tempted to give them another try...because that is something I definitely do not want to do. This place has a large patio on the main street that goes through Williamsville. We were blinded by the prospect of eating outside for the first time this season, so we opted for this place as we walked by, (after having an earlier appointment in the area). I'll try to keep this brief (failed) because I don't want to give them much more of my time (oh well). We received waters a few minutes after sitting down. When our server eventually came back to take our drink order, she realized that we only had the cocktail menu...not the food or beer menus. So we get our menus a minute later, and many more minutes later I order the Ruby Red Kolsch and my Matt orders a Mexican lager by Young Lion. What seemed like way too long after that (I wasn't timing), she brought us beers...but not *our* beers. She did replace mine with the correct one, but insisted that Matt's was already the right one...it wasn't. Maybe it was the Sullivan's Red Ale, which is what she had said when she put it down. He drank it, but was irritated. He hadn't had the Young Lion before, but knew what he'd received wasn't a lager, by the obvious ale taste. The waitress faulted the bartender for my mix-up and the wait (still denying Matt's mix-up), and I'm sure the bartender would fault the waitress. There were other excuses also, such as it being the first Monday that they've been open. Ok, but I'm still paying the full price for my food and service...and I'm out of grace. We ordered nachos for $15 and Irish "spring rolls" for $11. NO...just no, to both. We sent the nachos back. The cheese sauce for the meatless nachos was completely split and looked *precisely* like vomit. Although, it didn't seem like an error. I'm pretty sure this is how they usually make their nachos, because it would have been impossible for the cook not to notice the sauce had split before sending it out to us. Also, our waitress seemed shocked that we didn't want it. But, we sent them back after one bite, without replacing them, and she took them off the bill. They are frying the chips in-house, but not well enough...so they have a stale texture, even though they aren't. Jeez...I'm not even going to get into the rest of it. Except, do not expect toilet seat covers in the bathroom (tell me I missed them, please), or toilet paper...silly you. I decided to just hold it. When it came time to pay the bill...way, way too long later for a couple beers and an appetizer...the waitress was all apologies and eyelash blinks. We were overcharged by a dollar (for the difference in cost of a beer we didn't order), but we pointed it out and she corrected it. We were polite, just paid and got out of there as quickly as possible. Everything costs too much now for this kind of food and service to be considered acceptable. I usually skip leaving a review if an experience is this annoying, but our budget is too tight to continue to overlook these super common occurrences at restaurants. We have higher standards...right, Buffalo? I know restaurants are hurting financially, but so is everyone else. I guess it's time to start cooking again. read more

My brother and I rejected a 25 minute wait at one of our favorite locations choosing instead to go to a Main Street standby, The Irishman Pub & Eatery. We both were in town for the game but this is home and The Irishman is mere blocks away from where we have put our heads down for decades. We called to find out that there was no wait ... on a Sunday afternoon in the football season. Peculiar we thought ... strange for a place where the locals like to eat and like to watch sports but we were both hungering for one of our must meals when we come "home," a "Buffalo Fish Fry featuring haddock and a beer batter plus fries, slaw, and anything else they want to toss in. The interior of The Irishman is a classic Irish pub look and it has this sense of not being updated in years. My brother whispered "No one's here and there is only one TV and that's at the bar." It also appeared that there was only one front end employee who was half heartedly paying attention to the two out of town gentlemen (OK, I am using that term others might laugh.) who had come for a fish fry and some brews. In this almost vacant restaurant we were led to one of the smallest tables I have ever been seated at in a restaurant. Tight space is being generous and we were surrounded by empty tables set for four. Since he was the wait staff it is not that they were rotating tables to insure that every waiter/waitress had customers. We looked around ... picked up our napkins, silverware and beers and relocated 4 feet away at a table where two could actually, eat, drink beer, and be comfortable (The essence of an Irish pub experience!). So, the Guinness was poured correctly and my Killians was a welcome reminder of a brew I have not. had in a long time. Service time was quick ... we were presented with a plate that featured a nice looking piece of beer battered haddock, large hot French fries and cole slaw. You need to know that my brother and I are not the type to send food back. In fact, we are not the type to complain out loud to each other while at a restaurant if something is amiss. Now I knew within two bites of my fish ... oh the server did bring us malt vinegar but we got the toppings mixed up it was my brother who wanted the tarter sauce I had the remoulade sauce (I know it is hard to differentiate who gets what when you have two customers who order identical meals with only the sauces varying plus we had relocated so perhaps his spotter didn't work at the table we chose so he couldn't figure it out.) but we figured it out and made the switch. Back to my non-battered fish. The batter was wet, doughy, and inedible even though the fish was well done and at a proper temperature. I engaged in friendly conversation with my brother ... he paid the bill including the tip so who knows what gratuity he left. When we got home first thing he said .... 'That batter was awful! One of the worst fish fries I have ever had." Well, to the Irishman's credit .... I have had worse Buffalo-style "Friday Haddock fish fries" but this experience will keep me out of this attractive Main Street pub for some time to come. I am sure that on other days more than one person is working the front end (It is the season of COVID so I get the staffing challenges but you overcome that with great service and good food. ) and there is better service. The extra star is merely for decoration and understanding because the meal and the service were one star. I have walked by the restaurant many times and seen their outdoor patio filled with apparently happy people but sadly our experience did not merit anything more than this; you don't screwup Buffalo Beer Battered Fish fries ... ever. read more

What a great place! Inside and the outside patio as well. The food is outstanding. I had the Guinness BBQ wings- 10 of them and they were huuuuugge! Talk about meaty, holy moly! My kids had "the Rachel" and "the big Irish" and they loved both of them. The selection was great, so if you go home hungry, we'll... you weren't too hungry to begin with. Hahaha! The only hold back to this place is the parking was a little difficult. Not a lot of spots. We were lucky at the time we went (4pm) so the dinner crowd wasn't out yet. There is street parking so you could do that and walk a short walk. Our waitress was very attentive and truly interested in our needs. I wanted to update my review because I had a great experience this past Friday when my friend and I came in. So we came for dinner a little early, it was probably about 4:30 when we arrived. We were seated immediately by our waitress, who turned out to be one of the best servers I've ever had. More on that later. My friend wanted a whiskey drink and was fortunately spoiled for choice with that. She eventually got a whiskey sour, which she loved. I originally ordered a Blackbird Cider, but had to change that to a Magners when the waitress explained apologetically that they were out. This wasn't a problem at all because I love Magnets, too. I mentioned to the waitress as I ordered my burger that I am allergic to gluten and absolutely needed the bun to be gluten free. I got a burger that was supposed to have onion straws on it too, so I had to get it without that. The server came back moments later and apologized because the burger also comes with beer cheese on it. What a good catch! I'm so glad she was paying attention because I could have gotten really sick! I substituted the beer cheese with cheddar, which turned out to be delicious. The waitress also was worried because the French fries that came with my order were fried in the same oil as some other gluten friendly food. Fortunately, I'm not that sensitive, but I appreciated her looking out for me. I wish I had caught her name because I absolutely would have mentioned it here so she got proper recognition. My burger was amazing. So, so yummy. My friend got the same burger and she loved hers, too. First of all, it was huge. It was cooked perfectly and had so much good stuff on it. I forgot to ask for no tomatoes, but I just picked them off. Otherwise, all the ingredients melded together for a tantalizing bite. It also came with something called Shebeen sauce, which turned out to be just ketchup, mayo, and mustard. So, so good despite its simplicity. My friend and I had a nice chat and finally finished our food. Our waitress got our check ready quickly and we were able to pay right away. Our server was really on the ball and attentive. I can't say enough good things about her! Overall, the restaurant is so much better with their new renovations. If it hadn't been miserable out, we would absolutely have sat on their beautiful patio. They have a medium sized eating area and bar on the front half of the restaurant, and then an area in the back (with bar access) that can be grouped off for a gathering! We had a meeting in the back half with a large group of people. The staff was attentive and kept everyone happy.
