Nachos are solid and one of the more popular dishes here. A bit more attention on the service front could be good to clean up tables and provide utensils, but generally pleasant folks working here. Flintgate appears to be a favorite for locals and a good spot for a local meal and beer.

I had the soup of the day (roasted tomato with garlic and basil) with toasted artisan rustic bread & butter (£4.75) followed by Caramelised Fig & Whipped Goat's Curd Pizza with mozzarella and hazelnuts (£10.95). The figs were fresh rather than caramelised, but the pizza was sufficiently large as to make me wish I'd just had that. It was very filling. But both soup and pizza were pretty decent. My dining companion enjoyed the Breaded Buttermilk & Rosemary Chicken Burger with Amarillo chilli mayonnaise and fries for £11.50. Again, the portion was decently sized. Service was reasonably efficient and very friendly, though we decided to sit outside as the piped music (disco tracks, for heaven's sake!) was rather overbearing and too much for normal conversation. Why do these places do that? So I'd eat there again but be careful if you want to have a conversation to ask to be seated away from the speakers. One bank holiday we went, there was also a bouncy castle, which made for very happy (and ultimately hungry) children. Service is what you'd expect from a pub, but I have to say, one waitress we had while sat in the older part of the pub (mind your head on the beams!) really went out of her way to be helpful and friendly. I look forward to any excuse to visit this restaurant, it's always a nice, relaxing place to go.
