Worst of all, the leasing office workers are the rudest people you will ever meet. This is a pure money grab. They also raised the rent every year I lived there. I didn't even mention all the posts in the group chat about Bed Bugs. There is a reason they are terribly graded and bad reviews. Spent 2 long years here. Was told we couldn't view an apt b4 signing the lease. Moved in to find dirty carpet with burn holes and wet dog smell. The paint looked like my child did it in the dark. The bathtub would take hours to drain and took 2 months for them to attempt a fix, and the maintenance tracked black sewage through the apt and left a horrible stinky mess. The toilet never worked right and would clog from the smallest amount of tp. The dishwasher never worked right and I paid someone to fix it after waiting 3 months for maintenance to fix a "non emergency " issue. Huge black ants from day one. Silverfish, centipedes, hundred leggers, and roaches are a regular sight. Bathroom ceiling constantly leaked causing the paint to bubble everywhere and spread mold. The heat was horrible and pipes constantly bang in the bedroom ceiling all winter. The windows leak when it rains. The intercom didn't work. Outside our porch was a mud pit. The apt door had clearly been kicked in and didn't close or lock right. The windows wouldn't lock. Security door was always propped open. The gym was utterly disgusting and broken steam room for 2 years. Yard maintenance was handled only twice a year. Mgmt was always very rude and acted like any requests were a total bother and unimportant. We were promised a certain size and floor plan but got something much smaller at the same cost as the larger unit. Also wasps nests in the balconies making it impossible to enjoy the summer on our porch. There is dog shit everywhere, in the grass regardless of many bag and trash stations. Beyond horrible. I lived here just shy of a year. I was moving from my home to an apartment so it was an adjustment. First they showed me this airy, bright beautifully appointed 1 bedroom with 2 closets and allot of room. What I got, after being told the unit I was going into had water damage, was a smaller, (600 SF) dungeon. What could have a lovely experience, had a walk out that you had to step over to get out. Then what should have been a beautiful area for my dogs to be, as it faced trees and a small incline so it appeared secluded, ended up being a mud pit. There was no drainage so mud and water would constantly stay on my patio. Inside there was no natural light because the Evergreens blocked all the sun (hence the Dungeon). I complained and the finally laid rocks down, right to the apartment next to mine. By the end of that lease I was done and depressed. So I left, not only did I not get my deposit back they insisted on charging me a cleaning fee and a carpet replacement charge. BE AWARE IF YOU HAVE PETS! read more

I feel so bad. I talked my daughter into the Islander Apts. I thought it would be the best for her and my grandchildren. I waa so wrong. Moving day, carpet smelled still soaked from shampoo. It should have been replaced. It literally is sticky and worn. Blinds all broke. Maintenance said they cant replace them. Back ordered for 1 year. If she wants blinds go buy them. All was fine until I moved out. They charged me 680$ for a something called Prorated redecorating charges for an apartment I stayed for 2 months. I had this transfer clause added to my lease agreement where you can break the lease by forfeiting the security deposit ( 1 months rent ). So while breaking the lease (job transfer )even after forfeiting the security deposit they slapped me with this unrealistic redecorating charge of 680$. Totally avoid. There are much better apartments near this area who treat you well during your stay and when you move out too. read more

worst experience we ever had!!! at first, during the first visit, the manager of the leasing office, when clarifying our wishes, treated us with contempt and recommended looking for cheaper apartments, then when we signed the lease and came to the apartment, we were a little shocked, because there was a smell from the previous owner (some essential oils or something like that) the bathroom was dirty and the cabinets in the kitchen had to be constantly repaired by yourself because the drawer fell off and the door wouldn't close, the bathroom constantly had mold that we never got rid of, the neighbors smelled of food and sometimes marijuana, it was difficult to cook something in the apartment from the food, because the smoke detectors were constantly activated, there were wasps living on the balcony, and almost when we left, we heard the smell of gas, what did they think, we turned off the gas for the night, then turned it on and said that we should contact the gas service even though we had nothing to do with it. As a result, they charged us $1,026 for the partial replacement of the carpet and some other work, although we left the apartment in a better condition than when we moved in, by the way, our friends also lived there and they were also charged for the replacement of the carpet. have not seen this!!!!! read more

The Islander Apartments are a nice place to live if you don't mind your car getting broken into and vandalized also Don't leave your bikes Locked up in your carport because most likely they will get stolen . Not to mention the rent has been skyrocketing in the last few years but other than that it could be a nice place to live depending if your neighbors throw garbage in the hallways. read more

If i could give less than a 1 star, I would. Terrible place to lease an apartment.. SAVE YOURSELF!! To start, there was a raccoon that got into our apartment in the middle of the night and maintenance kept it in our apartment for days because they "didn't know what to do about it." That resulted in us having to pay for repairs and such. The apartment wasn't cleaned when we first moved in, doors were broken. When trying to move out, they sealed our apartment door before we could even move all of our stuff out. Then gave me a time limit to get the rest of my stuff out and didn't give any time to clean and get everything I came in with. We are now being charged $900+ for repairs that weren't initially our fault. Management always had an attitude when we expressed concerns and needed their help with simple things. If the spa caught your eye, find somewhere else because it was broken and didn't work the entire time I was there. Lease somewhere else, I wish I had listened to the reviews. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! so i moved into a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom 600 square foot apartment in building A, $811/mo with $100 off for a rent special. everything was fine for the most part when i moved in. the oven was broken and they tried to fix it with electrical tape. everything was good up until april. i paid my rent online every month on time. and april i didn't realize my rent didn't go through. they didn't call me about it until the end of the month, i told them i could pay it the next day.. when i went to go pay it my account wouldn't let me log in to pay, so i called the office and they said they had shut down my account due to none payment and it could not be opened and that i had to pay by check or money order through the mail. so that's what i did. i would mail my rent money order every month on the first. by july or august they gave me an eviction notice so i called and they said i have a balance of $1850 in late fees that i was not told about for months. i made a payment plan to pay them off i paid $200 extra every 2 weeks and the balance wasn't going down much. so i finally paid it off completely when i got my taxes. not even a month later after i paid those off they send me another notice saying i owe $1055 bc when my rent was late in april i lost my incentive of $100 off my rent every month and didn't tell me until almost a year later. and they claim they told me before but every statement i ever got from them said $811 rent, -$100 free rent. it is not worth the time, money, and energy to live here. you can find a much better place, with much better management else where. do whatever you can you to NOT live here. read more

I lived here for a year and a half back in 2013. I rented a small one bedroom and I never had any problems with my neighbors of our building. Everyone was respectful of one another. And although the bird poopy was an issue, I enjoyed my stay here, with my child. We really enjoyed the park, and the indoor pool. The staff was mostly friendly, and I did catch the maintenance manager on a bad moment once, but hey...it all worked out in the end. I kept my apartment clean and received my whole security deposit upon move out. I definitely would recommend this complex. We occasionally saw a bug or two inside from the woods, but it was not a big deal. We never witnessed bb's or roaches of any sort. read more

Please do not rent here! I can tolerate "non social " people, it's probably part of their culture. What I can't tolerate anymore, is the noise from upstairs neighbor and kids across the apartment. Brought the issue to maintenance, they sent me a letter about my own complaint instead of the ones making noise. The centipedes, and cabinet beetles! Flies coming in out of other people's apartments. I keep my windows closed, and I'm clean, so I know these bugs are coming from other units. Get an alarm, and locks for your tires, they will steal them if they're brand new/foreign. Stay away from this place! Apartments are very old. Took an apartment only because there is a big indian community and my employer had a discount with them. Maintenance and customer service are not good. Takes days for maintenance personnel to come in. Also, my apartment got infested with roaches because the maintenance person opened up a hole underneath the sink and maintenance did not do much afterwards to get rid of the infestation. I spent the last 6 months of my lease duration living in a roach infested apartment. Living amidst roaches was the case with my neighbors as well. Because of the older nature of the apartments, roach infestation is more than likely. When you terminate the lease, they do not account for normal wear and tear and they charge a premium for repairs. They do not care for tenant reviews or tenant satisfaction. They get people primarily because of the indian community whose employers provide a discount. They try to charge as much from the resident once his / her lease is done and they cannot be reasoned with. Learning a lesson from Islander, I have moved onto a much better apt community where the leasing staff sound to be way more 'reasonable' and care for tenant satisfaction read more

Terrible apartments. They're crooks and will sue for anything. I had a bird flea infestation they failed to fix the problem. I had fleas coming in from the outside. I had to leave the apartment for three weeks. They kept coming in to exterminate and would tell me the problem was fixed, I would go in and be covered in blood sucking fleas. I had a dog at the time and they would swarm all over my dogs face. I was even hospitalized because of a bite on my ankle. I had to Come out of pocket to get rid of these fleas because after three times of the islander office and maintenance telling me the problem was solved I was sick of being attacked by fleas when I walked through the door. Live anywhere but here. Specifically R4. The tenant above that unit currently enjoys playing his guitar at loud volumes and screaming at 3am. I had tapped on the ceiling at 3am at one occurance to let him know that I could hear him and that turned into "intimidating behavior". But never mind the note including vulgar language being left by him in the lobby of the building stating that kids were throwing rocks at cars etc. I am currently being evicted due to the ceiling incident, nevermind the fact that I pay my rent on time each month. They will also tack on $150 extra a month after your lease agreement is up. I'd say live here if you only need a temporary home, because they will come up with any little belittling reason to kick you out. The ceilings are literally buckling and you can press on them so best believe you can hear every little movement that happens above you. I had a water leak on me from above me when. I was sleeping. I was woken up every night by people upstairs. My keys stop working. For while police showed up regular for next door. Neighbor. I fall on black ice since they failed to throw out salt. I was told they would take some money off my rent since I wanted to move out in may but told me they don't let anyone out of their leases. I waited and moved out when my lease expires though they tried to get me to stay. I got my security deposit back and was charged $310 telling me they had to replace the countertops seriously. The place was left in good shape and I have never been denied a refund . I am furious they would accused of me of this and Tellig. Me 2 hrs extra cleaning too. They must be hurting for money. I am currently in a lease at The Islander Apartments. It has been terrible thus far. I had to call maintenance my very first night here because my light switch in the bathroom blew up. They said sorry it has to wait till Monday( I called on Friday night)... Later that week my fan in the kitchen stopped working and had to call again. Then they gave me the wrong mailbox key and blamed it on me... seriously? The water was off for a whole week last month due to a sewer leak... I saw no reimbursement for the time I could be at this apartment because I had no running water. Then they had to come replace my kitchen floor which only took 2 months to get someone here to do. Most recently they had to replace my garbage disposal since it was leaking, they didn't bother cleaning up any of the nasty water in the bottom of the cupboard below the disposal when they were done with it, they let me come home to the nasty stench. They still have yet to come fix my dishwasher that doesn't even clean dishes. They told me the apartment was totally renovated when I signed the lease... sure doesn't sound like it. I found out also that instead of being in a 12 month lease like I was told, I am in a 13 month lease. I refuse to stay here for 13 months when it is supposed to be a 12 month lease. This place is over priced for what they charge. There is no reason for this rent to be so high. Did I mention I'm located right next to maintenance hearing all the banging and crushing all morning and evening... it should be lower rent by that noise. But nope. I am paying more than another friend living here who is overlooking the lake and has a balcony. I can't wait to be able to get out of this place. The leasing office and maintenance are all rude. Terrible. My daughter lived here for a year. They are WAY overpriced, but they took dogs, so she moved in. Could not open dishwasher and frig at the same time. Bath above theirs leaked - causing ceiling damage and leaking in their unit. Took days to fix and even then it looked awful and maintenance left a big mess. She had a hair scrunchy around her shower head because it was broken and sprayed everywhere. They NEVER fixed that. Wall a/c in living room did not cool the entire apartment (?!) WHY? Switch in bathroom fell off in my hand when I went to turn it off. Kitchen sink backed up and sent gunky water into laundry unit when they attempted to plunge it, bathtub was forever getting clogged. Front 'security' door was broken for months, carpet in entry is filthy and smelly. She was charged 25.00 for putting a wreath on her door (NOT ALLOWED). Paid extra for her dog at beginning of lease plus additional EVERY MONTH and was still charged to replace carpet (crappy apartment carpet?!?). They took the time to put an eviction notice on her door although she had confirmation that her payment went thru on the correct date, but could not/did not bother to put a notice on her door that her lease would be renewed if she did not cancel. As such she is still 'leasing' though she has not lived there for months because the apartment has not been re-rented. Calls to management took forever to be returned and they would not budge on the renewal even though she had TOLD management more than once she would be moving out. I wouldn't recommend this complex. Maintenance is horrible. The first day I moved in my dishwasher was leaking BAD. I immediately called maintenance. The came and fixed it after destroyed a bucket that I had loaned them and breaking a coffee cup and a plate. A few months later my refrigerator started leaking. I contacted maintenance once again with no response this time. After a week of mopping up the floor I contacted maintenance for the second time. Still no response. I can to personally go into the office and demand something be done. The next day they a maintenance receipt was left saying there was nothing wrong with the refrigerator even though the towel under the frig was soaked and there was a puddle in the refrigerator. Once again I had to go into the maintenance office and demand assistance. They finally fixed it after a month of pleading. The refrigerator still runs constantly which raises my electrical bill immensely. Also, there's a HUGE sign on the Islander Apartments signs that reads "FREE HEAT." Well, it's 45 degrees outside and the heat is still not on. Fortunately, the air conditioning unit have a heat option. So it's really NOT free heat. Another thing that will make the electrical bill sky rocket. I will say they my neighbors have been quiet (thank God), although I have heard from other residents that the noise is almost unbearable and no action takes place with complaints. The only reason I continue to stay here is because it's one of the only affordable apartment complexes in this part of Cuyahoga county that accepts dogs...that's the upside. The downside is that most people do not bother picking up dog waste and the ground workers don't either. If you take a step in the grass you gonna step in something. It's horrible. I would NOT recommend leasing from this complex if you expect what you pay for. read more
