You have a chance to rake the barley. The tour guides are engaging and knowledgeable. The tour was the only one of the four distillery tours we took on Islay along the water that didn't include a photo opportunity of a white building with the distillery name in bold black letters. There are some interesting artifacts to see in the exhibit area.

Bowmore is on me if the fee Islay distilleries that still takes part in the in-house malting process. The tour ends in their oldest warehouse from the eighteenth century. This warehouse is special for a number of reasons. First, it is the oldest on Islay. Second, it only matures special and limited releases. Lastly, it houses two barrels gifted by the former Queen Elizabeth. When it came time for the tasting they only give you samples of their core range. Maybe you can try some special releases on a different tour. So I guess I'll have to go back.

There is usually two varieties of home made soup on the go daily with personal favourites of chicken rice, potato, lentil and split pea. Salad and pasta bowls and home made baking of cakes and pancakes etc. Sandwiches can be freshly made to order with a large selection of fillings of your choice. Home made mince pies and sausage rolls can be bought hot or cold. Avoid at lunchtimes when the school is in as it gets very busy. Staff are chatty and helpful at all times.

This may not be a big ship but it does stock a good selection but be aware that most bottles that l saw where at least £10 or so more than the shop that l usually buy my whisky from. The boyfriend, every year he receives a bonus at work, buys himself a new bottle of whisky to celebrate and keep at home in his collection. This year, he is in search of some Japanese whisky and actually found it here. To his surprise, it was actually a lot cheaper than he's been able to find locally in Glasgow or online, which was great. This shop has a cute little sitting area with an electric fire going, making it really cozy to be in there. The girl working wasn't the friendliest, playing on her phone the whole time we were there, but we quite enjoyed looking around at all there is to offer and just the overall atmosphere in this shop. Stop in if you're in the area. You never know what you might find!

The store has a bar and food and all kinds of great things to buy. The store also has some exclusive bottles. The service there was what you'd expect, very friendly and high end. Treating all customers really well. This is one of the newer distilleries on Islay. Anyhow it was awesome. Really enjoyed the stop and all the stuff I bought.

Cool distillery with some nice views of Jura and the sea over in Port Askaig.
