    The unassuming entrance to Ivory

With so many great places to eat in Belfast the Ivory often gets overlooked but let me tell you it's blimming great for a rushed lunch. I went on Monday for a quick lunch and the service was rapid. Granted it was pretty quiet and I only had a puled pork ciabatta but I was shocked. The rooftop terrace makes it an ideal place to get a break from the hustle and bustle of Victoria square, it's fully equipped with heathers too so you can go out without braving the cold. Unfortunately on Monday it was pelting it down so I swerved the roof terrace and stayed in doors. If you're not drinking and are just in for lunch as I was The Ivory can be reasonably priced. It was £7.50 for my ciabatta and that was washed down by a cheapskate special of iced water. A nice alternative to fast food for lunch in a really nice setting - give it a go!

For me, Ivory ticks all the boxes - located inside the retail heaven of House of Fraser, great food, cava and prosecco by the bucketful, and just the right feeling of decadence. I have been mostly during the day after a heavy shopping session, and have really enjoyed leaving all my 'mummy' worries and baggage at home and chilling over an ice cold glass of cava and a nice meal. The dangerous times have been when I felt it was a good idea to do more shopping after the cava, when caution was thrown to the wind and the credit card used with abandon! There is loads of space in Ivory, so no danger of your juicy gossip being overheard (although I prefer to call it sharing information rather than gossiping) and service is always attentive and efficient, In fact when I was last there, we had missed the lunch menu but our waiter persuaded the chef to cook us some dishes from it anyway. Top marks! I like to have a 'traditional' dish in each restaurant I go to, and in Ivory it's the goats cheese tart which comes with a mixed leaf salad so that I can pretend I'm being healthy. I suppose I should also confess to the side order of triple cooked chips - so good you won't care if that means triple the calories. Good news in these budget conscious times is that Ivory runs frequent deals like dinner for two for £30 or four for £60. My favourite thing to do at Ivory, apart from drinking cava, is to sit at one of the outside tables and snuggle under the fur throws provided. Actually, I would say a certain amount of cava is essential to stop me thinking about who might have been under the fur throw before me!

Ivory Champagne Cafe Bar is located on first floor of House of Fraser, whilst Ivory Restaurant is third. More of a cafe than a bar, it's structurally long and narrow, hence no matter where you sit, you get a good view of Victoria Shopping Centre. I visited with family on Saturday 06/01/2018. Service and view were pleasant but I found the temperature a bit chilly. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed at the lack of vegan options available. Emphasis is on meat/fish/cheese platters, and as two in our party of four are vegan, our choices were severely restricted. Vegetarian options aren't even marked on the menu, never mind vegan. We ended up eating bread (some slices of which were unsuitable, as topped with cheese), olives and hummus whilst our dining companions could have an array of dishes. Shame in this day and age, especially given the rise of vegan food and menus throughout Belfast. Other restaurants and bars are so in tune with the rise of veganism that they can offer numerous vegan dishes and clearly marked drinks menus. Ivory seems quite behind the times in this respect. Would not return nor recommend to others unless they started properly catering for vegans..

The Ivory is one of the more upmarket eateries in Belfast's fantastic Victoria Square. Its situated above House of Frasier and really is beautiful! It's very contemporary and very chic. The staff are really great and service is fantastic too! I decided to come here after some serious shopping and the lunch menu is fab! I went for the crab linguine which was absolutely heavenly and really complimented by the house white! My partner went for the beef burger with smoked apple Cheddar and said it was great too! The presentation was very fancy and although the prices were a little higher than the other places in the centre it is most certainly worth it! The linguine was £11.95 and the burger £8.95, which isn't bad for the sheer quality of the food! Can't wait to come back and sample the dinner menu...I've heard good things!

This review…read moreis for Cabaret Super Club who were incidentally celebrating their 13th Birthday last night. As part of these birthday celebrations they gave an audience of 100 people plus a taster of what Cabaret was all about. The evening started with a crooner who was built in the mould of the original rat pack, he took on some Sinatra classics as well as some other classic sing alongs. The evening was hosted by the unbelievably entertaining Robert who sang all the classics and engaged with the audience in hilarious fashion (sitting in the front row I was inevitably on the end of some of his quips). Between Robert's songs there were talented burlesque dancers who wouldn't have been out of place in the Moulin Rouge. The club itself is deceptively roomy and the acoustics are perfect for these type of shows. There's not many other places in Belfast that couple eating and entertainment so if you haven't been down to the super club then I would suggest booking yourself in - you are guaranteed great entertainment and value for money.

I've been to the venue before a few times for the general show and for some tribute acts. We were greeted at the door with a glass of bubbly, which lets face it kicks any night off to a good start! Seating wasn't assigned so being nice and early we managed to nab seats right at the front of the stage! (I believe you can reserve tables as well) Entertainment kicked off with a swing and blues singer who was very good. I love the style of music anyway so it was right up my street, My mum and I also got stuck in to a bottle of prosecco. It was nice but at the pricey range of some I've bought. At £32 a bottle it was good stuff, but I wouldn't be hurrying for more except on a special occasion. After the first bit of Entertainment platters of 'tappas' style buffet trays were brought round. This was a little different for me as I'd only ever eaten the full sit down dinner before in the venue (Which are great) The food was fantastic, but I think we chose the wrong seat. We had a few nibbles from the first tray and then the rest seemed to pass us by for the rest of the night. So in the end we got enough to fight off the hunger but were left wanting more. (The selection was great ranging from mini-burgers, fries, chicken goujons, pork belly and other little finger foods) The burgers especially were delicious. After food the main show kicked off. Our main host of the night was Robert Brown. I've worked with Robert in the past and I know how great a performer he is so it was nice to see other people who hadn't react to him. I was particularly impressed by the drag performer Cherrie who had an amazing voice and a great repertoire of songs, and off course the Burlesque girls were amazing. (There was a gentleman in the audience I am sure was drooling at one point and was completely mesmerised by the whole show. Also props for the girl who did the take on Jessica Rabbits scene from 'Who framed Roger Rabbit!) We finished up the second half of the show with a nice bottle of Chilean rose wine. It was nice, but again a tad on the pricey side, at £18 a bottle, just above the average and with a nice sweet bouquet it was ok, but think I'll hit the pints next time to save the wallet so close to the end of the month. Overall the Cabaret Supper Club is a great night out, the performance is great and the food is good. (I think the average price for dinner and show is around £30 per head so its very good value) Its a unique experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more. Bravo!

DATE OF VISIT: Sunday 8 May 2016 at lunch time with Caroline S…read more MENU: Small but good with a focus on light breakfasts, lunches and patisserie items. However they really need more Vegetarian and Vegan options and for these to be highlighted on the menu. Nonetheless being Northern Ireland's first licensed patisserie Miel et Moi definitely offer something different from the norm plus a great range of sweet treats and cocktails. FOOD: Absolutely scrumptious and flavoursome. However portion sizes are very small and it's therefore expensive. Our lunches of tomato, red onion and basil salad (£6.75) and goats cheese with carrot jam, herbs and toast (£6.50) were tasty but small for the price we paid, being more starter size than a proper lunch. We noticed a lot of diners around us opting for sandwiches (£4.95) which looked more substantial and economical. Others had quiche which appeared to be a very small slice for £8.50. We shared a mango and raspberry cheesecake which was decadent and probably similarly priced at £4.25 to desserts found in any restaurant. DRINK: Very good with coffees, wine, cocktails, gin and tonics all exceptionally good. COST: Expensive, our bill was £82.42 for 2 people. Coffee and patisserie items are a standard price but lunch dishes and cocktails are overpriced especially given the small portions e.g. a Kir Royal cocktail rings in at £9.95. We actually had very little food but ran up quite a large bill on just a few drinks. SERVICE: Excellent and attentive with all waiting staff extremely helpful and pleasant. We didn't feel rushed out of our table either and ended up sitting on for over three hours. RESTAURANT DECOR/ AMBIENCE: Wonderful especially on a sunny day as the outside seated area is a sun trap during early afternoon. Decor is French influenced with soft muted colours and there is a lovely relaxed yet luxurious vibe to Miel et Moi. IN SUMMARY: Miel et Moi serve delicious food but need more clearly marked Veggy meals on their menu. I found the service, food, atmosphere, drinks and ambience lovely but prices are high so it would definitely be more of a treat spot rather than somewhere I would visit frequently.

After getting a recommendation from a few workers at a local coffee shop as well as picking up a full restaurant week booklet from the tourist office, we decided to go to The Apartment for a gourmet Irish dinner. We were seated upstairs at a couch adjacent to a big glass wall overlooking town hall and the city center. For the restaurant week special we got to choose two of either an appetizer, dinner, or dessert in addition to a glass of wine for €13. We ordered an appetizer of smoked salmon with beetroot mousse, rye bread, and gherkins. The mousse was really something special, but when you got a perfect bite with each item on the plate it was mouth watering. I ordered the Northern Irish Bacon Chopvwith traditional black pudding, garlic potatoes, and cauliflower puree. We'd never seen bacon served as a slab, but it was pretty epic, and yes I ate the whole thing. It was a little on the salty side, but well worth the experience. The cauliflower was amazing and left us searching for a recipe! My wife ordered the roast local cod with potato mash. The cod was cooked to perfection with a buttery goodness that highlighted the delicate flavor. The artichoke puree complimented it very well. They really know their purees and mousses! The mash was very cheesy and tasty, but nothing too special, the garlic fries were better. For our final course we ordered their steamed chocolate pudding with honeycomb ice-cream and a latte. The dessert was almost like a lava cake but with a very enjoyable and unique texture that made it light and delicious. The caramel drizzle and ice cream were a perfect pairing. The latte was delicious and a perfect rounded ending to a very good meal.
