I have eaten here multiple times over the last 3-4 years. Each time I tell myself 'This time will be different. They are still in business so they surely have fixed things.' But each time I'm mistaken. The food is average at best although overpriced. The service has NEVER been adequate. I sit at a table in the restaurant as I write this. It's been 20 minutes since we placed our drink order but still no drinks. The chips have been consumed long ago. It's 9:30pm on a Sunday night New Years Day. The place is practically empty so no excuse for this. Do yourself a favor and go to El Tapitio or really anywhere else. You will get better service and better prices guaranteed and most likely better food as well. Went there last night, Sunday 4-3-16.. Service was horrible. Food not to bad.. Place wasn't even busy, half the restaurant was empty but we still couldn't get anyone to stop at the table. Waitress dropped off bill, I paid with credit card and 17 minutes I had to hunt her down.. "She forgot she had my card" Wth.. Anyways I wouldn't recommend it at all.. read more

Picked up a to go order- service was great took it back to work and I had asked for flour tortilla and got corn. Still was good and the portion was the right size. Over all will go again read more

I ate there last night. In my book its pretty hard to screw up Mexican Food,"my favorite food",but I will say it was the blandest Mex food I have ever eaten.Chips good,Red salsa as spicy and hot as Ketchup,Beans,no flavor,rice no flavor,taco,no flavor, and made of ground beef I might add,enchilada,no flavor. I feelTaco Bell would have been a much more flavorfull and better option. Service was good. Note: After writing this review I visited 2 other Mexican Restaurants in Denison ( I love Mexican Food) and I found the same bland food as at the Jalapeno Tree. I then realized I wasn't in California and this must be the way they cook Mexican food for the non spicy eating public in North Texas. When in Rome, give the Romans bland Mexican food and they will love it, unless you're from California. I guess the food was good if you don't want / can't eat Spicy, I wanted spicy. read more

I want to start out by saying that this place used to be one of my favorites, but it has gone drastically downhill. The past TWO times we have been there the service has been severely under par. First occurrence happened just a few weeks ago. Not only was the services slow, our server was very unattentive. Our glasses were constantly empty, and when we placed an order for a side of steak fajita meat for a child, which runs around $7-$8, she told us that it would be cheaper to get the fajitas for one, so we took her advice. When we got our ticket, they had charged us $17 for the child's meal! Second occurrence happened tonight, when we went in. After waiting an hour, we still didn't have our food! We were told that they lost the ticket, and that they were working on it. Upon speaking to the GENERAL MANAGER of the location, he seemed to slough off our concerns, claimed that he was working hard in the kitchen to help, and HAD THE NERVE to ask us if he could go back to what he was doing now. They never offered to comp ANYTHING. I had placed a to go order for my boyfriend, which came out before I even had a chance to see my food. In my opinion, that should've been comped, because we NEVER got our order. After experiencing the long wait, and the demeanor of the GM of this location, we finally got up and left, having nothing to eat but chips/salsa and our drinks. Some people do not have time for a mediocre restaurant to get their stink together. Do yourselves a favor and not waste your time with this one. read more

I'd love to give them no stars but that doesn't seem to be an option. I have never dealt with a ruder manger or a lazier kitchen staff. I am gluten free ( because of allergies ) and my family and I tend to choose Mexican restaurants because it's easy to find something for me to eat. Upon sitting down I asked our waitress If they had a gluten free menu. They did not. So I asked her if they by chance had any options. She told me she was new so she'd ask the manager (who happened to be standing behind me). I overheard their conversation. I will not quote it word for word but she was completely rude and told her they had absolutely no options whatsoever which is a bold faced lie. They offer salad and last time I checked those, with a few modifications, can be gluten free. I will not be returning to this location ever again. read more

The Jalapeno Tree Mexican Restaurant. Hmm! It should be called The Gross Tree. Why you may ask? I have been there before and have seen roaches but this time I gave the benefit of the doubt and went again. Well that's why they say go with your instinct, I should have never went again because I ordered a Taco al Carbon plate with pleasure and joy. I was excited to receive my plate of beans, rice, two tacos, and my pico de gallo, which to my knowledge ingredients are tomatoes, red onions, jalepeno peppers, cilantro, and a dash of lime. However The Jalapeno Tree in Denison, TX decided to add a special touch of sautéed brown roach. Yuck not my taste! Without making a scene I removed myself from the table with family and friends to find our waiter and ask for the restaurant manager. When the manager arrived I politely spoke of my roach experience, his response was "Yew gross. I will call Pest Control. Would you like another plate?" I wanted to say how dare you offer me another helping with a side of brown roach, but I just smiled and said no thank you. So his way of fixing the situation was then to just remove the cost from our bill. Needless to say when we got our bill the cost of the plate was still there. Again not wanting to cause a scene we paid the bill said thank you and left. Will I ever go there again? HECK NO!!!!!!!!!! The Jalapeno Tree Mexican Restaurant is never to be on my list of places to eat. DISGUSTED!!!!!!! read more
