Looking up different places and reading menus, I decided to give The Failte Hotel a try and overall, it was ok. I walked in on a Saturday evening, around 6:15pm. Going up the stairs to the restaurant, it was large with plenty of tables, a bar, and a few TVs playing. I got a table near the window facing the street with ease. The waitress came over with a menu but I knew what I wanted since I browsed it before walking in. She seemed new though as she wasn't overly friendly and didn't explain that I had to go up to the bar to cash out. Sipping on my pint of Guinness with Black, in what felt like maybe five minutes, my dinner arrived. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Burger, which is a grilled Cajun chicken fillet topped with lettuce, tomato, and red onion with sweet chili mayo between a toasted brioche bun and served with a side of fries. The sandwich was good, nothing really stood out, but that's fine, it had good flavor overall. I liked the spice it had and the side of fries had come fresh out of the fryer as they were very hot and crispy. Overall, a fine experience at The Failte Hotel. The waitress who waited on me seemed new and should have done a better job communicating the cash out process, but no harm done. The food was fine as well, nothing really noteworthy. If I were passing through Killarney again, I wouldn't mind coming back for dinner.

We chose this place because it was close to where we were staying, there was food that sounded good to us, and the prices were reasonable. There was only one other table with people at it when we arrived but by the time we left about an hour later the place was hopping. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and my partner got the classic burger. The carbonara was so good and you could tell they made their own pasta. The garlic bread was also delicious and hit the spot after a long day. The burger was also good, my partner said it had a tangy flavor that he couldn't identify but liked. The fries were also super crispy and fluffy, exactly how we like them. The servers were nice and quick to take our orders and bring our food. It took a while to pay the bill but that could certainly be because we weren't sure if they would bring it to us or if we needed to get it from the bar. A musician set up behind our table shortly after we arrived and played some acoustic sets. He was fantastic and we loved listening to him. This was a great place to stop in at when we were exhausted and in need of a good meal. I would go back for the fries on their own because of how good they were.

We…read morestayed 2 nights in room 212 (Arbus suite) which had a large bedroom, full spacious and updated bathroom and nice separate sitting area for relaxing. Our rate included breakfast. We also dined one evening in the exceptional hotel restaurant (Ivy Lounge) having made advance reservations. While without AC (like most Irish hotels) we were quite comfortable with a couple of window to open up. Even in June the temps outside seldom got past the mid 50s. As for the room itself, the king bed was firm and there were ample pillows. While the bedside tables were a bit undersized, there was power of both sides of the bed (bring your adapter as there were no ISB ports). The staff are great-friendly and helpful and the sleek styling of the place adds to the overall appeal. It's pretty quiet save the morning squeaking of crows without much ambient noise. On my wish list would be a slightly larger shower and double sink but in the overall scheme of things that's not a big negative. Would definitely recommend a stay here when visiting Killarney. Several of the nearby larger properties had multiple tour buses parked so if you'd like a more serene oasis in what can be a fairly busy tourist area, the Victoria just might be the answer.

Maura and Morgan went the extra mile to make sure our plans were the best they could be. Breakfast served in the hotel was always a pleasant way to start our day with wonderful, attentive service. The Ivy Restaurant served a wonderful dinner. The hotel is a pleasant 1 mile walk from the town center, which we walked several times. I got a voucher for The Castle Hotel on the back of a Dunnes Stores Reciept. A 2 night stay for 2ppl with breakfast each morning and one evening meal with a bottle of wine for 230euro. On Entering the Hotel on Friday afternoon we were greeted by a lovely lady, very jolly and chatty and couldn't give us enough information. she gave us a tourist map for cork and also a tourist map for the town of Macroom. She gave us all the information we needed about meal times, leisure centre times, the location of everything within the hotel and gave us some suggestions on where to go in the evenings or during the day in the town. The room was lovely, we had a king size bed and a single bed, tea and coffee facilities with my favourite cinnamon biscuits.....its the only reason I stay in Hotels....so yum! :) we also had an ironing board and iron, a telephone, a television with more channels than I would usually expect in a hotel. The only thing I felt was missing from the room was a hairdryer but, most people only stay here for a short time so I suppose they aren't really needed. That's just me being a typical picky woman! :P Oh and the windows were great!!!....nothing I find more irritating than tiny windows looking out at a wall or windows that hardly open an inch! the room had a big window, that opened...wide, it was great :) :) :) Overall I thought the rooms were spotless clean, the beds were very comfortable, the decor was warm and homely and of course ye....the biscuits :)

NO HOT WATER AT NIGHT. I think this place might have been good at one point but too many corners are being cut now. only positives are that the staff are relatively pleasant, they provide water in the rooms and by the front door, and the breakfast provided was nice. that being said, there was a hair on my plate this morning with my eggs that they couldn't cook correctly.

We were also treated to a complimentary sample of sweets in celebration of our honeymoon. The Malton does "historical hotel" right. It successfully achieves an elegant and vintage atmosphere without seeming "dated." The building itself makes a memorable impression covered in ivy surrounded by beautiful gardens. The Malton is an oasis in the heart of Killarney - within walking distance of all the shops and pubs. The room was gorgeous and the bathroom was supplied with modern amenities that still kept that classic touch. It's worth noting that the hotel does not have air conditioning, but we still found our room to be comfortable. Our only complaint about the room is that it is a little noisy (because of its location about the entrance, no doubt.) Breakfast included the typical array of pastries, meats, and cheeses, but also featured a made-to-order hot food menu with ample variety. The Belgian waffle was worth noting - it was coated in cinnamon and every bite was scrumptious. (It's a bit small though - order 2!) Unfortunately, the restaurant is not managed very well during breakfast. You must wait to be seated by a host, who may then take your order for coffee/tea and toast to pass along to your server - which really slows the seating process. The dining room is tightly packed, making it a little difficult for wheelchairs or strollers to maneuver. (Even on foot, winding your way to the buffet can be difficult.) One thing I wish we had done, but didn't have time - the Malton's wine tasting room!

Which it duly did. Steak sandwiches for two and salad for the sad vegetarian were deemed excellent. As it was Friday and we'd had a productive meeting I awarded myself a beer. At 2 in the afternoon. Such decadence. Thus replenished we boarded our train back to the shmoke. If the rest of the hotel is anything like the food in the restaurant I will definitely stay here should the opportunity present. Excellent.

The hotel has a great location, directly on the main street in Killarney's city center, so location and access to shops, pubs and eateries was top notch. Location was probably our favorite thing about this hotel. While the hotel touts being luxury, it missed the mark for us as we would not describe any of our experience, the outlets and certainly not the rooms as "luxury". The rooms had fairly updated furnishings and a nice bathroom. We were in a room that featured a queen/full and a twin. There was alternative seating and a table, which is always nice and beats having to sit on the bed the entire time in the rooms. I appreciated the functional windows as well. Odd how many hotels do not have AC or windows that can open. The lobby and interior restaurant and bar were quite dated and did not match the overall vibe the rooms and Scotts bar created. Felt very disjointed in overall vibe and decor from public spaces to rooms. Speaking of the interior restaurant and bar, this was our least favorite meal and dining experience while in Killarney. We did breakfast and dinner, both of which were not that great. Food quality and service was lack luster for us. On the flipside, Scotts Bar was pretty solid for a pint and cocktail each night. We always made our way to the bar upon our return to the hotel each night, enjoyed each time we bellied up to the bar. Service at the front desk was also a bit disappointing. Arrival was okay, departure was quick and uneventful, but anytime we needed assistance outside of arrival/departure, it seemed like we were a bother. Situation with getting our of the garage with the provided ticket proved to be more of a hassle than need be. Instead of being assisted, the Front Desk Agent seemed accusatory and dismissive to our claim that the ticket provided was not working. Overall, we enjoyed the location, room and Scotts Bar, everything else was "meh". Biggest win for Scotts Hotel is definitely the location, which in itself makes for a good time when in Killarney. Hopeful they can address the service concerns and give the interior spaces a refresh, as those would both be definite wins.

Its really designed for adults and couples wanting to get away. Most rooms have a balcony looking out onto pastoral scenes. This was by far the most relaxed stay I've had on this trip. Even though you are a stones throw from a bustling tourist town you feel none of that here. I could return and spend an entire week or two here as a base to explore everything southern Ireland has to offer. I hope to be back.

Victorian decor , an old fireplace... The gal that checked us in sat at a table on the right, was super sweet, and gave us our keys. Parking was easy and no issues. Our room was in the Coach House, a separate building from the hotel. Must stay in Room 1 !!! A beautiful landscaped courtyard lead to our room. Our room was spacious and filled with antique furniture.. I love antiques. We had our private patio space with patio furniture and with the most scenic emerald green views! And views of a field of sheep : ) What was really nice...our huge bathroom. Annnnnd it had heated floors and a heated towel rack, a spacious shower, separate tub, and a vanity table. Appreciated the complimentary book provided regarding the history of the hotel, complimentary water, and bike rentals (wish we had time to utilize the bikes!) The breakfast room was a nice addition. There was a mini buffet ( just a few items like fruit, granola, etc) and a made to order menu. Food was just ok. The hotel does have a high end restaurant- must make reservation, and a casual bar restaurant. Perusing the hotel lobby and adjacent rooms were lovely. Wish we had more time here. Killarney National Park was nearby and within walking distance. We walked to and from and within the entire park, and booked in 11 miles!!! A beautiful space and fun town to visit, near the Ring of Kerry.
