At Southern Grace Creations they offer art classes dealing with glass and resin, door hangers, canvases, and more. Classes for adults and children, beginner to advanced, and they supply everything you will need to make your art piece: (canvas, window or picture frame, paint, glass, shells, sand, glitter, resin, etc.) Some people choose to bring trinkets like a special sea shell, sand dollars, starfish, small beach wood, necklace, broach, etc. (you can also bring other materials, including canvas and art supplies if you desire) I showed up and was welcomed by Bobbie, the instructor, and since this was my very first time working with resin she was very patient, explained everything about the process, and guided me along nicely. You can choose from either doing your project on canvas or on a framed glass, I chose canvas. (other options available) You pick the size of canvas or size and style of frame and you're ready to go. There's a big variety of crushed glass, shells, and all sorts of materials to put on your project and you can paint it first or work with a blank slate. (stencils are also available if you need them) I chose to draw and paint a basic sky, water, and beach background then cover it in different colors of glass with some shells. After your project is complete Bonnie instructs you how to properly cover it in resin, it's pretty cool. Since it takes 3+ days to cure or set you will need to come back to pick it up, and that's it. Aprons and plenty of space is provided. Bottom line: It's especially easy with Bobbie's patient direction and you can make something that's just fun or make a family heirloom. It is free to the public, and has a very nice gift shop. I have no idea why it Is listed as very expensive, because the art is reasonably priced (for the level of quality), the gift shop has items in all price ranges, the classes are a great bargain, and entry is free. Be sure to check it out when you are in Fairhope. Hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on saturday.

We were there celebrating friends, my daughter, her classmates and every single one of us noticed the same thing. Not just friendly, not just nice... but relentless in the best way. You'd take two sips and boom there's someone asking if you're ready for another. It felt like Mardi Gras met old-school Vegas and decided to move to Biloxi. Now let me paint you a quick picture There's this older gentleman a few seats down from me, posted up at a machine like he's been there since sunrise. Calm, steady, not saying much. A waitress swings by, keeps his glass full without him ever asking. Whiskey, neat. Every time it dips, she's back like a ghost with good intentions. After a while, he finally looks up at her and says, "Ma'am... I don't know if I'm winning or if you're just making me think I am." She smiles, tops him off, and says, "Honey, around here... we make sure you feel like both." And that right there? That's the place. Because here's the truth when a casino is generous with the drinks, people loosen up. They laugh more, tip more, play a little longer, take a few extra chances. It builds a vibe. A reputation. I'm currently here and am beyond frustrated. It rained around 11 a.m., and apparently that means there is no pool service for the rest of the day. Guests are given only one small towel, which barely covers the lounge chair, and I was refused a second. Since there was no pool service, I attempted to grab a drink from one of the casino bars to bring back outside, only to be told my cover-up was not appropriate. Mind you, I was wearing a one-piece swimsuit and a modest cover-up that happened to be slightly short. I've seen far more revealing attire throughout the casino. I've been here for three days and my room has not been serviced once. I currently have no clean towels. Last night, my room key repeatedly malfunctioned, requiring multiple trips to the front desk before maintenance finally had to come let me into my room. The valet service disappeared years ago, but that's only one small piece of a much larger problem. There are often homeless individuals congregating outside the property. Even the non-smoking rooms smell like smoke. The hotel itself appears neglected--dust coats the glass shelving, light fixtures, and other surfaces throughout the property. A closer look reveals a level of dirt and lack of upkeep that is hard to ignore. While many employees have been pleasant, others seem completely uninterested in providing quality customer service and have noticeably poor attitudes. The pool area remains the hotel's biggest selling point, but even that feels dated and poorly maintained. Much of the property is overdue for a deep cleaning, pressure washing, and significant refurbishment. I used to genuinely love staying here, which makes this review disappointing to write. The Hard Rock was once one of Biloxi's standout properties. Today, I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere--particularly at the Beau Rivage, which continues to offer a much higher standard of service, cleanliness, and overall guest experience.
