I LOVE this place! I booked this place for my birthday party this year after I saw it being a photo booth vendor for another party a few years ago. I fell in love with the place and knew I had to throw a party here in the future for myself. Not only is it an awesome place, but it's very affordable to rent out for the evening as well! George, the owner, is so easy to work with and his staff that helped me out the night of my party (Javier & Gabriel) were awesome as well. They took care of mostly everything. Tables, chairs, linens, setup, teardown, staff, and a bartender. You can bring in your own drinks and their staff can bartend your event for you. It's very spacious and can fit a good amount of people. I had about 120 attending my event and there wasn't a tight spot in the place - except maybe the bar because everyone was getting wasted! LOL. Parking is also super easy. There's a parking structure DIRECTLY behind the venue that's cheap. read more

Oh Knotted Apron, you've done it again! Was so impressed by the Game Day class last month that I just had to come back for Chophouse Classics. Needless to say, I will be returning for another class and hope to make it to the Chef Throwdown. Our fantastic chef and sous chef for the night were Porsche and George. Porsche gave us so many useful tips on slicing, dicing, meat preparation, and baking. On top of that, she was funny and and sharp as the knives we used. She expertly guided us in preparing our bacon blue cheese wedges, hasselback potatoes, bacon and tomato jam glazed ribeyes, and chocolate hazelnut tortes. The evening was one great course after another. Even the music selection complimented the menu! If you plan on bringing your own beverages to sip on while you cook and eat, they will happily store your items in their large fridge. Recently had my wedding here and from the day we booked the experience was easy and quick! Through the year from the time we booked til the wedding day George was quick to respond and answer any and all questions. We booked the outdoor gazebo area which is beautifully lit up and has a ton of space. We were able to go a few days before to discuss set up and have a small rehearsal the day before ( also because the area wasn't booked the day before. ) the staff was super helpful throughout the wedding. We did unfortunately get rain about 2 hours in but luckily we were able to move inside the bar area as we didn't have a ton of people so it was perfect! Before we knew it everything was moved inside except for the taco guy. He was set up under an awning outside so the rain didn't affect his set up. Clean up was also done by the staff. Amazing location! Reserved this venue for my sisters birthday and everything was amazing. I first contacted the owner George thru Yelp which he responded to the same day. Arranged to meet same week. Once we saw the venue we were immediately convinced and left a deposit right away for the date we were looking for. We had full communication via email with George before the event. The day finally came and George and his team were amazing. The location is very nice needs little decor. George provided the tablecloth and we just added the center pieces to the tables. We also had a live band. They offer catering but we provided our own and also brought our own refreshments and alcohol. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. My friend wanted to take a cooking class, I assumed they'd all be in LA (overpriced, hyped up, etc) but luckily I ran into the knotted apron. We took the "Chophouse Classics" cooking class, only $65! Everything included AND BYOB! We cooked a bacon and bleu cheese wedge salad, bacon and tomato jam glazed ribeye steak, parmesan and chive hasselback potatoes, and individual chocolate hazelnut tortes! This new venue has quickly become one of my favorites. I have been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. I LOVE how cute the place is! The outdoor section is beautifully decorated with chandeliers and strings of lights hanging above , while still allowing you to view the night sky (very romantic, great for engagements!). This place is amazing. Had my daughter's XVañera here - it was not the typical party where a"hall" was necessary- place was perfect for us. All gues loved it and complimented thelayout - space for socializing and dinning and bar - love it love it!! George was always available for questions and never made me feel like I was inopportune - thank you George - you truly made this part of the process the easiest. They worked with me up until the party ended and packed my stuff Only thing is that you need to look out for outsiders who come to freeload in bar - just have someone watch out for that. What an awesome experience! My friend had her baby shower here in 2017 so I decided to check it out for my co-worker's retirement party. Well, he ended up delaying his retirement till further notice, but The Knotted Apron was awesome in letting me move the deposit for a different event, mom's birthday party. George was great from the beginning all the way till the event. We met 2 weeks before the event to finalize the set up. We were also able to drop off some of our stuff the night before which is a total plus because who wants to be transporting stuff the day of the event? It's an outdoor venue and with all the rain we've been having I was concerned, but I think they were working on exploring their options on purchasing something to cover from the rain. Good thing it didn't rain though. The day of the event, the staff was beyond helpful. We brought our own food, but the two guys kept replenishing the chaffing dishes with the food. They continually filled the beverage set up. We didn't have to, but we helped with the clean up afterwards because that's just the kind of people my family and I are. They insisted though that they would do all of it. The place was very affordable, super cute. I love how private it was. You would never think this venue was there. You will have access to the louge, kitchen area, and upper patio. I do have to say though that street parking sucks, but I have handicap parking so I usually find a spot with not problem. The good thing is there are several parking lots. The parking structure right next to venue is an option but it's closed on Sundays. However, there's a lot north of the venue you can access through the alley. Comstock, which is the street west and runs parallel to Greenleaf, has a few parking lots. I think I just about covered everything lol In conclusion, I will use this venue again. Definitely going to use them when my co-worker finally decides to retire. read more

I rented The Knotted Apron for my wedding on 11/10/17 and that was the best decision I've ever made!! (Besides, you know, marrying my husband...) George was so amazing, helpful, and exceedingly patient as my whole family swarmed his establishment to set up for the big day. Everything we needed to do, George was there helping to make it happen. He and his workers bartended for us and they were super fast, organized and so sweet. The venue is so amazing, everyone kept asking me how I found this gem. It has so much charm that you don't have to go crazy on decorations. The food was delicious, but we had unruly guests and the chef and owner didn't know how to handle it and kept pouring drinks. I attended a private cooking class here and loved it! The space is really cool and the kitchen was great too. I have taken a few cooking classes at other places but this would probably be my favourite experience. Alonzo, our chef and teacher, taught us to make some delicious dishes. I like that they had us cooking in groups of two and each group had their own propane cooktop to cook our own dishes on. We made the Steakhouse Specials menu and they allowed us to substitute some dishes from other menus, which was great! Taking class with no ingredient information is hard for me due to my allergies, gluten and beta carotene. I tried the Fresh Summer Meals class and was glad I did! It was informative, fun, and accommodating! Chef Zo and George, the owner, made the night! As with most of my adventures, this was a trial run to see if I could make it work in my schedule, food restrictions, budget, etc. It was perfect! There were a few challenges, but both Chef and George were super helpful. Tips: bring your own beverage, limited soft drinks available; were comfortable shoes, you stand a lot; parking is limited; location is hard to find, it is a really cool venue, but behind a financial institute. The Knotted Apron is a quaint and rustic venue perfect for all occasions. I highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of having an event. I contacted George inquiring about having my wedding in March of 2017. As soon as I visited the venue, I was in love and reserved the space right away. The location is perfect with a community feel of Uptown Whittier and a great parking structure right behind (only $2!), Let me tell you. George has one of the kindest hearts and was wonderful to work with. I had a billion questions to ask on multiple occasions and he patiently answered each question in a timely manner. We were worried about rain on the day of and George had created a plan B for me just in case it rained (Thank goodness it did not rain...) On the day of the wedding, George, his wife and the Knotted Apron Team helped with all of the behind the scenes things and made sure our wedding was just as we envisioned. The Knotted Apron was flexible and helpful throughout the process and was able to meet all of my requests. We also utilized Zo's catering for our wedding. Alonzo was professional, helpful and his food was absolutely AMAZING. People still talk about how amazing his food was 4 months later... (those mashed potatoes though... I can eat those all day every day...!!) As a fun activity for my close friends, we took a cooking class in January 2017 at the Knotted Apron with George and Alonzo. It was a fun yet informative class (I learned so many new techniques!) and we were able to create a delicious Italian Menu.
