A bit overdue, but The Lair is amazing! The coaches all so knowledgeable, passionate, and patient. I always found the facility to be clean, and parking was never an issue for us to find! My kids are with coaches Tiff, Ivan, Samuel, and Jason. They definitely know how to keep all the kids engaged and enjoying their classes. My kids are 3 and 6, and both of them are loving jiu jitsu so far! In addition to self defense, the classes have helped build confidence, improve motor skills, demonstrate public speaking, and make wonderful friends as well! My daughter has joined for a few months now, and we have seen significant improvement in her skills already. My son just joined today, but he had so much fun and couldn't wait to go back! One of my favorite things is that when the coaches teach a new move, they will keep repeating the move for about a week until the kids really have it down, and they will also have refreshers of previous moves, so that it's not lost and forgotten. I think the repetition really helped my daughter learn quickly. We always wanted our kids to learn self defense. We couldn't be happier that we chose The Lair as the BJJ gym for our kids, and we can't wait to see what else they learn! read more

Luckily, we came to Lair for the free 3 day trial and we are so happy that we found this place so close to home. The coaches have always been there for every competition and you can tell the coaches really care about the kids progress in jiu jitsu. I definitely appreciate everyone at the gym for their patience, hard work, and dedication for the sport. the best jiujitsu place around here. the culture that coach mike create in this place is amazing. he is a great teacher and all the coaches are amazing in their own way but special shout out to coach mike, coach tiff and last but not least coach kaite. they don't just take ur money they earn it by creating a space you want to come back to. all these other kids karate places are a joke and yes i've been to them all they want to do is marketing and they just want to sell you stuff not the lair! i dont normally give out review but the lair definitely deserve it! i recommend this place 100%. read more

I've been training BJJ for around 9 years and have moved around to different gyms throughout the years and have recently joined the Lair in January of this year. Professor Mike is a professional. He has a wealth of knowledge, methodical and at the same time, very laidback. However, don't be fooled by his laidback mannerism as he will push you to become a better Jiu jitsu practitioner. If you're looking for a jiu jitsu gym in and around Glendora, this is it. Coach Mike is an awesome coach not only for adults, but for our 6 and 5 year old kiddos. You can really feel the passion and heart he has for the sport. Coach Mike pushes the kids when they feel like they no longer can go and makes them believe in themselves as much as he believes in them. Jiu jitsu is more than just a sport, it teaches a lot of life lessons, and he definitely teaches that to the kids. My kids work harder at The Lair than they did at the gym they were at prior not just because they have to but they want to. When coach Mike teaches, it's structured. You're not just learning a new move every class. You're reviewing the same moves for at least a week until the motions just come second nature to you. He is an awesome teacher, that really focuses on the little details. Not only does he teach the moves, but he explains why it matters to put your arm or leg in that specific area. He also teaches the defense of the move. When it's time to roll, you're not just doing 5 minute rounds but also positional sparring which I think are significantly harder, but so much more effective in working your game. It's all tough, but so worth it! Everyone that comes in are respectful, mature, and are not looking to break your limbs off. They are all there to have a good time, learn, and grow. As a woman, it is difficult to feel comfortable in a high contact sport with a bunch of men, but the culture that coach Mike and The Lair has makes it to where I don't need to feel afraid. Plus, there's women in this gym! The gym itself is rad! If you're looking for a traditional gym that plays mediocre music, you won't find that here. We enrolled our 4 year old (now 5) in the Pee wee class when they first opened not knowing much about The Lair or jiu jitsu for that matter, but so glad we took a chance. The lair jiu jitsu features a very cool nostalgic 80s/90s aesthetic style jiu jitsu establishment and I give them a 10/10 in all aspects. It's a pleasure learning the sport under professor mike. He really knows his stuff! Considering only being open less than a month, the lair has accumulated a deep community within Glendora which is also a tight knit community city.
