All About Christy! My wife and I had traveled from Irondequoit to catch a band playing at Point of the Bluff. When we arrived, we found out there was a $10 cash fee for parking. Not having any cash on us, we set out to find an ATM--but being unfamiliar with the area and misled by some bad info online, our search kept coming up empty. One source suggested there was an ATM at a nearby restaurant, so we stopped in--only to find that wasn't true either. I asked a young server if they had an ATM on-site; she wasn't sure but immediately turned to ask Christy. Christy instantly picked up on why I was looking for cash and asked, "Are you headed to a show?" When I nodded, she didn't hesitate--she pulled out her own purse, handed me a $10 bill, and simply said, "Just pay it forward." Her kindness and generosity truly floored me. I've already shared this story with so many people. Christy is the kind of person you don't forget. Later that evening, our dinner server received a 40% tip--in Christy's honor and with her spirit of giving in mind. We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday (today) and had a great experience. Our service was excellent, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. They had quite a few lunch specials which all sounded great! We started with a glass of dry rose from a local winery (they had quite a few locals on the list). It was a good pour and tasted perfect. We both opted for lunch specials. My husband had a beef and cheddar melt on sourdough with horseradish sauce on the side and chip. I opted for the turkey club wrap with ranch in the side and fries. We each like meld our own means as well as each other's. We sat on the patio overlooking the lake. A perfect day for it too. They had tons of out doors eating and the place looked like it would be hopping in the summer! I can't wait to come back and hang out at the lower bar. My experience at Lakeside was a mixed bag! My family was staying at a house right next door and we made our way over for dinner on a Monday evening. The views of the lake are lovely and there's options to sit outside or inside. Bonus: they do allow dogs throughout most of the restaurant! Our server was also so lovely, fast, and efficient. My margarita was par for the course for a restaurant of this kind. Why the two stars then? The prices, the food, and the vibe. My burger was dry and well done, though promised medium, and lacked any seasoning or flavor. The bun was also dry and something you would get at Tops, all for $14. There were other things on the menu, but the prices were so exorbunent for what I knew would be super mediocre food. They pretty much have a monopoly on the west side of the lake in terms of sit down dinner, so people will continue to come to this restaurant based on the fact that there's simply nothing else available, unless you go up to Penn Yan or down to Hammondsport. Overall, I would advise folks to cook at home rather than spend a small fortune for food that is subpar. read more

Nice casual restaurant in the area! Located right on the water and overlooking the hillside, the view is beautiful. There's spacious seating inside and outside, with large tables for large groups. The menu has a variety of options from spicy noodles, to burgers, to pasta dishes, to salads, to salmon. Prices greatly vary based on the complexity of the dish, but they're all reasonable. I ordered the special of the day which was a fish fry. My dish came with a huge fish fry, breaded nice and crispy. On the side were crispy fries, horseradish, and coleslaw. It was all delicious and the portion sizes definitely filled me up. The fish was very tender, melting in your mouth, and the breading had a great seasoned flavor. Our waitress was also excellent and very attentive, especially for a group of 11. She brought everything over at once and came by periodically to check in and fill up our water glasses. Our server was very good--friendly and courteous. We went here for lunch and were disappointed with the lack of options based on what photos we saw on Yelp. I had a Caesar Salad and it hardly had any chicken on it and I had to ask for croutons when I was almost finished with my meal. It was not a $20+ salad. My daughters chicken fingers were burned. My husbands fried chicken sandwich was just okay. We sat inside with a beautiful view of the water. However, the windowsill I was sitting next to was covered with dead bugs and flies. We will most likely come back and the food was good but overall the service was disappointing at best. You'll find the place has great atmosphere with two large outside decks along with inside seating and a gorgeous view of the lake. On Fridays we found that they had a band which might be each week and were treated and seated promptly. They serve various wines and beers so my wife and I ordered Dr Frank's while we looked at the menu and heard the specials. My wife decided on Grouper and I ordered the butcher block special - Delmonico steak. For appetizers a ceaser salad and shrimp cocktail were in order. A few minutes later the appetizers came out and both were delectable. The salad had fresh anchovies and the shrimp cocktail were large with good cocktail sauce. Here comes the first issue. It could not have been even 10 minutes and our entrees showed up! In fact we were still eating them and the kid the delivered the plates was asking us to move plates. With them aside we both took our first bite of the fish and steak. Overall the entres were delicious and hot, so clearly they were fresh from the kitchen which was good. I thought about asking for steak sauce but fortunately for me I changed my mind. We both enjoyed our meal but never saw our waitress until we both completed our meals. While they were busy they weren't swamped so not sure what happened to her. When she did finally show up, she asked how the food was which we said was good but also offered her our perspective on how quickly the entrees showed up. She promptly talked over me so we decided it wasn't worth asking where the heck she had been the entire meal. This dockside tavern with an expansive deck, two or three of them in fact, makes for a very nice spot for a casual lunch and beer on a hot Summer day. The service was pleasant, if a bit sporadic, there seemed to be far too many tables assigned to each of the staff; and its a sizeable run back to the kitchen from the outdoor seats themselves. The food was quite a bit better than I was expecting. The menu of Pub style snacks, sandwiches and burgers was executed very well. In fact, every thing we ordered was well cooked and served quickly and hot. It was also a substantial amount of food, I was not able to come close to cleaning a plate. This is not a place you're likely to leave hungry from. My favorite dish of the day was and order of the Garlic Parm Chicken Wings. Generously oversized chicken drumsticks and flats were deep fried a dark and crispy, oaky brown, covered and coated in a powdered garlic and butter sauce, and topped with fine shaved slices of an aged Parmesan. Great experience at The Lakeside today. We were visiting from out of town and decided we wanted a dinner by the lake. The Lakeside exceeded my expectations. The hospitality was great, the food was delicious(so great I dug in before I grabbed a pic), and the view was priceless. The setting feels like it was taken right out of a love story. Considering all the shoreline of Keuka Lake, there aren't many public spaces to enjoy the views. As its name states, Lakeside Restaurant & Tavern is one of the few on the west side, just a 15 minute drive north of Hammondsport and close to vineyards, breweries, and distilleries. They make great use of their vantage point with a beautiful outdoor space of multiple decks and small performance area. The view of the lake speaks for itself, and sunset is lovely. The menu is easily recognizable, made up of familiar American classics of fried calamari, chicken wings, potato skins, tacos, burger, a pasta, a few seafood and a few meat entrees, plus a house and Caesar salad. Some of the dishes get an international seasoning, nothing too adventurous, but they could have done without. A well-made classic doesn't need frills but unfortunately, like most places that boast a great view or historic location, food quality here isn't the priority. The Korean seasoned meat tacos were excessively sauced and topped with a mismatched and overdressed cole slaw (and no recognizably Korean seasonings in it). House salad (mixed greens, sliced red onion, cucumber, tomato, croutons) was about as interesting as a standard catered salad, which is an insult to how good a well-dressed salad can be; even with the same ingredients, tossing it in a tasty, house-made salad dressing is all it needs. The best were the chicken wings, which were hot, freshly fried to a nice crisp, meaty, and just done. But these were intentionally ordered bare; anything less than a great sauce would detract and I decided against trying any of the sauces. The absolute best part of having dinner at the Lakeside is taking in that view with some local wines and beer through sunset. If food is more important than view, skip. Otherwise, it's worth going for that view while visiting the Keuka Lake area. Service from our waitress was friendly and attentive. They have a small parking lot just across NY-54. read more

Let me start off by saying the view here is beautiful. My boyfriend took me here on my birthday as we were visiting the Finger Lakes for a long weekend. He picked this restaurant for the view and also because they have gluten free options advertised on their menu (I have celiacs). I ordered the NY strip (which was listed as GF) and explicitly stated that I have celiacs. I was assured the kitchen would be told and any modifications necessary would be made. It arrived with breaded onions on top of it. When I asked the waitstaff they seemed unsure but obliged and took the item back. When I finally received food that was flour free... it was okay but not amazing. My boyfriend was unimpressed with his food and felt that it was lacking any real flavor. I would give the restaurant three stars however having a menu that advertises gluten free options without educating your staff is unprofessional and dangerous for celiacs. read more

I have been to the Lakeside many times when we are at Keuka in the summer and had a fantastic meal in a gorgeous setting. So when we decided to go to Keuka for my sister's bachelorette weekend, and we needed a nice place for dinner, I suggested the Lakeside. What a horrible mistake. And how embarrassed I was. It was early in the season (May 5), but a lovely day. There were 8 of us, but we called and made a reservation. We thought. When we arrived there were lots of people on the deck, and inside. The hostess seemed surprised to hear about our reservation. They weren't ready for us. That was our first clue that we should have left. Then, we were seated in the room adjacent to the bar, overlooking the lake. It's a beautiful sight to look out, but inside - lights were off, and it looks like they were cleaning out a back room. Random stuff was piled in the corner. Someone came to give us water, and said there were a lot of specials - only she didn't know any of them. She kept telling us she had only been there for 45 minutes, so she couldn't help us. The menu was appallingly small; nothing even close to what they had online. This was our second clue we should have left. Nothing looked good, but we were making the best of it. A young man came to take our drink and food order. Twenty minutes later, we were still waiting for our drinks. Another server stopped by and we inquired about the drinks. She found them at the bar. The were in sweaty glasses - had been sitting there a while. Oh, and one of our drinks wasn't there at all. Our server came to apologize, and we asked him to get our missing drink. Third clue. We stayed. I don't know why. When he came back again and said someone threw away his pad where he wrote our orders - that was it. We were done. We were not staying for dinner - give us the check for the drinks, we'll move on. The check came - WITH ALL THE FOOD ON IT. So please tell us - someone threw away your pad of orders, but it was in the system to charge us? And we were treated absolutely horribly. No apology, no offer to comp any drinks - nothing. So - early in season - not a good experience. We were offended to boot. Skip it. read more

We just showed up for 6:30 pm reservation for my parent's 29th wedding anniversary. When we arrived, Cheryl/Sheryl was running around and seating people. She asked us if we had a reservation. We said yes. She said she had no more seating, but started seating people behind us. We asked Cheryl to see a manager and she actually yelled "OH MY GOD" before stomping up the stairs to which multiple people behind us in line apologized. She got the manager, who denied Cheryl would ever say that and said he would eventually get us a table inside. Way to ruin a special occasion for all of us. We left. Thanks so much! Had an excellent experience here on a Monday night. The hubs and I ordered the two pasta dishes available on the menu and were not disappointed. Excellent flavor profiles. Mine had a wine sauce and you could actually taste the zing of the wine...which is what I love. Too bad we couldn't take doggie bags because we were traveling. I knocked it down one star because as we approached the restaurant, we could smell garbage wafting from somewhere close by. Also, the entrance is not clearly marked. To the left of the restaurant as you approach from the road is an 'entrance' sign the points toward the restaurant, so we headed LEFT until someone pulling out of the parking lot directed us to the RIGHT hand side of the restaurant. Lunch was delicious, hot caprice panini (added chicken) & Mediterranean chicken wrap, both came with crunchy kettle type chips, fresh greens in full sized Keuka salad. 2 diet cokes. 45 bucks and well worth it!! Waiting when you are hungry is difficult. Being ignored by your server because she has another larger, demanding table is frustrating. If she had even said, "hey, sorry I am busy with the other table" and acknowledged that she knew we were being shafted would have helped. Insult to injury was the fact there were other servers doing nothing. It was later in the evening on a week night. Great venue, has consumed our Sunday's for several years. Bar tenders work their arse off to keep up on busy weekends and they do not disappoint. I came for dinner with a couple of friends. We decided to head to Keuka Lake for a wine-tasting girls weekend, and chose this place for a nice dinner out. Seating inside was a bit small, but we were sat near a window and the view was nice. I was interested in ordering the Asian noodle bowl, and the menu indicated it was spicy. I asked the waitress just how "spicy" it was, and she said it really was not that bad, but she would ask the chef to keep it on the lighter side just in case. Well, it was easily the spiciest thing I have ever, ever eaten! Not in a good way either! (And I usually like spicy things.) After each bite, my mouth was on fire.
