This review is for the Lamb's Bar upstairs, which was the perfect spot for a cocktail and snack before a show. The atmosphere is very elegant and has the upscale old New York vibe. The martinis are deliciously dangerous and beautifully served. The cocktail menu has a good variety and all the drinks I saw looked beautiful. The bites menu was pretty limited but I enjoyed an enormous shrimp cocktail and some very satisfying fries. Portions were generous on both. Service was spot on and very attentive. Prices were high as you would expect for the property. We also tried the main bar in the hotel lobby for a nightcap and lived the espresso martini. We ate at the lambs club every morning with our AMEX breakfast perk package while staying at the Chatwal. You have a limited menu with the package choices but you can sub items and everything is fresh and delicious. Portions are generous and you also get pastries and coffee plus juice. It seems like a lot of business meetings but it's super cozy with a fireplace. We loved coming down to eat here before exploring NYC for the day . Ask for a coffee carafe or you might wait for refills. We tried a couple of desserts after show at the Hudson late night in the lounge. They were visually interesting- a fruit crème concoction and a mini snickers frozen dessert. Very convenient to the Hudson theater. We dined here before seeing Maybe Happy Ending across the street. Completely blown away by the level of service and amazing food (at a great price point). Since we were early and had to hit the show, LC offers up a 2 and 3 course pre-theater menu. The 3 course was a deal at only $95. Everything we tried was outstanding-notable call outs were the seared scallops, the lamb saddle, 'nduja carbonara and key line dessert. Service was efficient and extremely well timed to give us am enjoyable experience while still having time to get to the show. We came here twice for breakfast and it checked every box for breakfast lovers. This place is a hidden gem in the theater district with so much rich history. The hotel itself is very luxurious and felt every details is intentional with purpose. The lemon ricotta pancakes were some of the fluffiest pancakes i ever had. The fresh made whipped cream and fruit made an excellent touch. I also got the salmon lox on everything bagel and they did not skimp on the salmon! Very generous amount of salmon that I had to take some off the bagel in order for it to fit into my mouth. Our waiter was lovely and some of the food wasn't awful but the sommelier or perhaps manager, a bald older white man was exceptionally rude and made it so that I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, ever. My guest ordered what they thought was a red wine and he brought out a white, which wasn't actually what she asks for. We ordered another bottle of red and the "gentleman" came back and rudely told us they opened the other bottle of wine for us, so we needed to keep it. I explained we did not order or want white wine but he was insistent and we ended up taking the bottle with us, even though he was in the wrong, because we were hungry and didn't want to ruin our meal. The situation was unfortunate, but had he been polite, it would have been fine. He behaved like a tantruming child rather than an employee of an upscale restaurant. All of the food was too salty, as though to compensate for the lack of flavor. The brussel sprouts were very greasy and the bordelaise that came with my filet was thin and had little flavor. The filet itself was tough and medium rather than the medium rare I ordered. There were also a couple of small fruit flies around the table after the food came out, which made me question the cleanliness of the entire place. read more

We were seated shortly after 9:00 PM and were immediately given only a drink menu -- no food menu. Our server didn't return for nearly twelve minutes, leaving us with nothing to reference. We ended up Googling the restaurant's menu ourselves just to know what to order before the server finally reappeared with the actual dinner menu. Still, no bread service during this entire stretch. After ordering, it took approximately twenty-five minutes for the oysters to arrive, with the first appetizers reaching the table at 9:36 PM -- and even then, still no bread service. I ordered a cappuccino at around 9:11 PM, and by 9:31 PM it still had not been served. For most of the evening, our server was largely absent and difficult to locate. Appetizers: * Bread Service: Slightly dry. * Oysters: 8.5/10 -- well-shucked with a clean mignonette. * Beef Tartare: 8/10. * Caesar Salad: 4/10 -- arrived dry; could use a touch of olive oil and salt. * Hamachi: 1/10 -- returned due to a heavy fishy taste. Entrée: * "Wagyu" Skirt Steak: Served warm rather than hot. Flavor was decent but not exceptional. 7/10. Sides: * Broccolini: Arrived cold, with the cheese dry and not properly melted. Service Notes: While the server was mostly absent, the busser Saley was excellent -- attentive, quick, and consistently professional. His service was the highlight of the evening. Overall: Based on the quality, service, and timing, the overall experience calculates to roughly 3.0 out of 5 stars. The food was very good. We went to the prix fixe pre theater which is good at $97 for 3 courses. The bar is lovely and has some nice couches to sit at with great drinks. Since the martini glass is small- it comes with a bonus- a glass with ice and a little porter within with another1/2 glass or so. Our waiter confirmed our theater time and all ran so smoothly. Service was attentive yet not intrusive . We enjoyed every course. My one caveat is that they no longer have the almond joy dessert- according to every waiter/ server the best dessert they had- we'll get rid of the rosemary flan with apples that's not very good and bring that back! I've been here once before and have been waiting for over a year to take my partner because I loved it and knew he would too. It started strong -- they requested our showtime days ago, we arrived on time at 5:30pm (as they request 2 hours before curtain), and the hostesses confirmed upon arrival we had a 7:30pm curtain. But then it went downhill. We waited 20 minutes for menus. Even at your chain restaurant of choice, you get the menu when you're seated! But we retained hope as our server again confirmed our 7:30pm curtain and agreed we'd aim to leave at 7pm. Finally, we ordered the 3-course menu, and our first round of drinks arrived. Finally, our appetizers arrived. Our drinks ran dry, so we requested menus. After we asked for drink menus a second time, they arrived. Finally, our main course showed up at 6:40pm -- my scallops were exceptional, and I wish I'd had a chance to enjoy them without stressing about our timeline. At 7pm, we had neither dessert nor a check. Upon request, the check showed up and included a dessert that never arrived and we didn't have time to eat. Our protest to paying for a course we didn't eat was met with a lackluster apology and offer to remove from the bill. We would've protested further, but curtain was calling. I'm frankly at a loss. I'd like to believe the feeling all the staff were ignoring our table and only paying attention to those with kids was only in my mind. Don't actively advertise a pre-theater menu if you cannot consistently deliver. And when things inevitably go wrong from time to time, own it, apologize, and offer to make it right. For $350+ for dinner for two people, that is the bare minimum. read more

Located across the street from The Hudson Theatre just east of Times Square in a relatively quiet area, The Lambs Club is a special place. I'm a sucker for places with swank art deco decor and a vintage Hollywood feel; The Lambs Club seemed to fit that bill perfectly so I chose it for a pre theatre brunch and was not disappointed! We were greeted warmly and shown to a spacious booth against the wall giving us a line of sight to the whole room. Gorgeous space with well spaced red leather seating, a cavernous fireplace and pictures of old time actors lining the walls. We both chose the classic eggs and fried fingerling potatoes, and my oh my those gently sauteed spuds were yummy! Side of applewood bacon was crispy and thick, Bloody Mary nice n spicy with a good alcohol kick. Prices are in line with other midtown eateries, and they do offer discounted pre-theatre menus. For a breakfast lover, this place checks all the highlights. In fact I ate here twice on two consecutive mornings. On the first morning, I ordered an omelette with ham and Gruyere cheese. The omelette was ready for its photo-op. Look at how it came out fluffy and perfectly without any brown color, a prime French style omelette. But the star was the lemon ricotta pancake. This picture was a quarter of an order as we shared an order for the table. Delightful pillows of not too sweet goodness, these pancakes have ruined me for all future pancakes. They were so good that I came back and shared an order with a side of bacon. Plus a satisfyingly large quantity of coffee for me (and a cappuccino for my date). Lunch and dinner? We have spent every Thanksgiving in NYC the last 7 years and have tried a number of spots for that "turkey dinner" (although some in our party opt for other dishes). This was a clear winner. A nice space; excellent service. The price for the "turkey" offering was significantly lower ($95) than other spots ($150 and more) we have tried. What an amazing dining experience. I was in New York for work and to see family. The Lambs club is in the most perfect location if you want to visit Times Square or catch a show. The staff is attentive without being pushy and go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and appreciated. The lamb, pasta, steak oh my! We went absolutely crazy and had the opportunity to try starters and mains and the sides. Oh the sides !! Whatever you do make sure that you try the lamb. The Lambs Club just reopened for the first time since the pandemic, with the most important thing to note being that it's now run by Michael White, which also marks his return to NYC after leaving to Miami to open the Lido Club. The food is excellent - not strictly Italian like a Michael White restaurant, but there are some amazing crudos and the must try Trofie pasta that are reminiscent of his past restaurants. One thing I was a little disappointed about they said if you wanted to eat per theater, you had to have a two course dinner which was $85 which is not what I was in the mood for, but you could eat upstairs at the mezzanine so that's what we did the presentation.of food was very good. The bar at Lambs Club is an absolute hidden gem in midtown/theatre district. Head upstairs for a lovely menu, impeccable cocktails and friendly staff. We had a few different martinis (each of which was extremely well prepared, with an extra glass on the side to keep the night going), and then moved on to the barrel-aged old fashioned, which was perfection in a glass. The food was a slightly different story. While the oysters & steak tartare were both brilliant, the spicy tuna (served on a crispy potato roll) was beyond underwhelming (the potato bit was grey inside, and there wasn't any real flavor to be found). Great spot to catch a pre-show dinner and wine. My wife and I had a 5:30 reservation here ahead of a 7:30 show. The food and service were excellent and there was a great wine list. The good: The food, we started with an excellent Tuna Crudo with muddle aioli, then my wife had the scallops and I had the halibut. We stuck with seafood but the menu had a great variety. Our only complaint was that we didn't arrive with a bigger appetite so we could try more of the menu. The service, table service was quick without being overbearing, able to answer questions about the sauces in our entrées and a sommelier was on hand to give wine recommendations. The waitress asked if we had a showtime to make so they were able to keep track of our time. The wine list, great selection of wines, even by the glass in 5oz or 8oz pours which we appreciated as my wife could have a white while I enjoyed a Pinot. We both also had a port to finish the meal. The bad: There were no serious complaints we could post. The mediocre: The ambiance, this is a dining space on the ground floor of a hotel behind a reception area. The interior is well decorated with a large fireplace and some of the most comfortable seating I have had at a restaurant. However, it is a small space that did get a bit loud as the room filled up and being on the back of the hotel there is no windows for natural light or exterior view. This review is for the upstairs Lambs Club Bar. This place oozes a classy NYC vibe from the adorable art deco bar chandeliers to the the comfy seating with small round tables. You're coming here on your way somewhere else (theater) or to meet a friend and catch up. You are comfortable and treated with the most respectful, almost elegant service. From the classic cocktails in the absolutely perfect glassware (have a martini-in a Nick and Nora coupe with you second serving in a short glass on ice beside) to delicious icy cold oysters, your evening will begin perfectly. The burger is exactly what a bar burger should be--perfectly cooked and juicy. And the salmon was perfect as well. A nice dessert of delicious wine and we were on our way to a show. Where to begin . . . The service here is unmatched, the best service I have ever experienced, without being overbearing. The food was a culinary delight from beginning to end. We enjoyed: 1- rabbit cavatelli with onion, parsley and crème fraîche, 2- beet and pecan arugula salad with ricotta, green apple, tarragon, 3- 'deja carbonara with tagliatelle, bacon fat and a poached egg, 4- rohan duck with pretzel crust, parsnip, pears and foie gras sauce were all carefully prepared and presented.
