I think the place must have been an underground storage room or something - similar to the ones underneath covent garden, so there are several semi-separate sections, with sofas and tables, where you can sit and chat while you're not dancing. This is quite nice, and gives the place an intimate feel. The music is pretty good, and the dance floor is a nice size - not too big, but big enough. Also, I lost my keys there the other day, and gave them a call, and they found them and looked after them for me, which is pretty good service for a club! Thanks! The closest tubes are Moorgate and Barbican. The club is reasonably obvious by the side of the road.

I walked in for the first time since it's name change and it smelled really badly of sewage! This put me off, but i persevered and have since been back a lot. The atmosphere is great, and they have an immensely gay night on a Friday hosted by a few chaps from Horsemeat Disco and Disco Bloodbath. The clientele is a mix of city workers and Hoxton trendies, although not so much of the latter. The nearest tube station is Liverpool Street. They show Sky Sports and have fruit machines and quiz machines which are quite fun. They also have karaoke and some friends booked the place for a private party last Christmas fort 35 people. There is also a space for bands to play, the last time I saw a gig here I remember having some very weird and wonderful conversations with some random people who decided to sit next to us.

Simply put, Cristina, the general manager, and her staff were brilliant. They all made my night, a night to remember! A little background on the venue... Paradise by way of Kensal Green is a huge, turn of the century, bohemian public house, encompassing several floors, which has many nooks and crannies. "Paradise" was in the throngs of changing ownership on the night of my party. Admittedly, the venue could do with a few updates, especially by way of the toilets (Ha-ha! Low hanging fruit with that pun! I couldn't help myself!), but overall, I'd say Paradise is a pretty solid place! Paradise is all about "the vibes" and it has that, in spades... ...but I digress... ...as mentioned earlier, the venue was in the midst of changing ownership on the night of my birthday shenanigans. I imagine that that's a handful for any GM to navigate. Staff is coming and going, including within the kitchen...man...talk about challenging times! Then here comes a dinner party of twelve ravenous souls all clambering to be fed at once. Let me tell you, Cristina handled the situation LIKE A BOSS! She kept it pushing! She went above and beyond to ensure that my guests and I were taken care of that we all had an incredible evening. Honestly? I am in awe at how well she navigated the circumstances! Brava, Cristina! Even after the last of us had departed and it was realised that an item had been left behind, she did not miss a beat! She immediately secured the item then stowed it away for safe keeping until it could be retrieved. Cristina, you are a lovely, kind hearted soul who helped immensely in making my birthday night the resounding success that it was! Thank you so VERY much, mi amore! I see you! Well done!!! I went to watch some live music at Paradise and on a first visit, was completely transfixed by the…read moreplace. The decor is the ultimate in kitsch - think lots of antique furniture, cool floral prints, sofas, mirrors, funky lights and lamps. It almost like your 'home from home' which is probably why it is so popular and attracts a host of dedicated locals. The pub is huge - lots of different rooms on a couple of levels which are used for music nights, screenings and general private events. The main bar area has a really cool atmosphere and I have heard that Kate Moss comes here occasionally. It has a lovely 'local' feel but is always busy with a mixed crowd of young and old. Also, if you're into your fashion, you will always find someone like-minded here! It is a shame I don't live nearer as I would definitely visit on a much more frequent basis. A good reason to move to North London!

It was not particularly crowded when I went there on a Saturday night (thank god because I was quite hungover) so it was the perfect place to relax and play some board games (who else loves battleship?) without much noise or loud music. I think it is great place for people who find pubs a bit too rowdy and prefer quieter places where they can chill and have a chat with friends. If you live in the area it's worth going in to check it out but if you are too far away don't worry about giving it a miss.

This very small, easy to miss real ale pub is one of the few gems in Whitechapel, an area not known…read morefor specialist beer bars. You will find the Indo opposite of The East London Mosque on Whitechapel Road. Yes, it may look a grubby to the casual visitor; the décor, if you can call it that, is creaky, worn and a bit seedy. But what you'd be missing out on is a genuine passion for good national and international beers. More often than not, the glitziest pubs have the worst selection (only lagers e.g.), while the "boozers", the watering holes, offer a genuine range of high calibre ales. The Indo is one of those places. I just visited London for two weeks, and spent the better part of many late nights (the Indo is open till 1 a.m. on Mondays to Thursdays, 3. a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays) at this pub, as it was conveniently located diagonally from my hotel. The staff, mostly young people, are helpful and knowledgeable - they know their stuff. A selection of about half a dozen rotating guest ales of various styles is available on tap, and a great many more from the bottle or can. All the beers I tried were fresh and well-kept. In that regard, I can say only good things about the Indo. Be aware that classy beers come at a price, and that Indo - not being part of a huge pub chain (like Greene King or the Spoons) - does not buy large quantities from its suppliers. Thus, depending on the source and alcoholic volume, a pint goes from anything between just under 5 to almost 8 UKP on tap. That's not cheap, but I'd rather pay more for a distinguished craft beer than waste 6 UKP for an unremarkable international lager - which is the current price at most downtown London pubs (that usually close at 11 p.m. at the latest). Food (stone baked pizzas) is also available, but only between 12-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., respectively. The pub regularly offers musical "events" like jam sessions and other live music - which seems like a difficult proposition in such a small place. Background music will play throughout, and it can get obnoxiously loud. Hence, most often, I preferred to remain outside (there's a small bench, as well as a sill for glasses) and vaped while drinking. The Indo draws a mixed crowd (saw no elderly people there), but the percentage of twenty-somethings is fairly high. Occasionally, things can (and did) get a bit rambunctious, like when a customer who's had too much is being asked to leave - against his intentions. All in all, the Indo is a "sleeper" in the heart of Whitechapel, and very much recommended to any real ale lover who's visiting the area.

The Big Chill is located on the awesome Brick Lane, a street overflowing with energy. The Big Chill is the same way. It always seems to be full. The Big Chill attracts a lot of young, hip kids from the shoreditch area who like good drink and good music. Inside it has some of the coolest art/wall design I have seen for a bar. Reminded me if some one took alot of drugs and drew stream of conciousness what they saw at Bestival Music Festival on the Isle of Wight. Check out http://www.bestival.net/ for a taste. Some psychedelic stuff. The Big Chill always plays great music(probably helps they are located right by Rough Trade East) and they often have live DJs and music. They have relatively cheap drinks with a good selections of beers on draft and in bottles. Many times they have great deals like 4 bottles for 10 pounds. Also they just added burgers to their menu and they are more than decent. One of the better burgers I've had in this city. Another big plus is that there is plenty to do in the near by areas. During the day stop by the brick lane or spitalfields markets or enjoy some quality indian food. At night The Big Chill can be a wonderful stop to any night out in Shoreditch. So as of now after more than a couple visits, The Big Chill remains my favorite bar in London. Even if you don't make it to this bar, no trip to London is complete without experiencing Brick Lane.
