Definitely the worst eyebrow 'tidy up' ever. She ripped my skin off and did a terrible job generally.

Since…read moreI've been in Australia, I came to the realization that I shouldn't put anyone through the shock and horror that ensues when glimpsing my bare, white legs. So I started to spray tan. I have tried a couple different places in the Surry Hills / Paddington area, but I think the best has been Diva Beauty. I first decided to try this little parlor because I was short of time and needed a spray before heading out for a holiday. I called in the morning and booked in for later in the afternoon. I got there (exfoliated and wearing my loose black clothing, as instructed) and had to wait for nearly an hour and a half until they took me back. Now to be fair, I had called and changed the time of my appointment at midday, but it seems like that length of a wait still wasn't warranted. Either way, the girl that did my spray really knew what she was doing. She gave me nice even color without the freakish "surfer tan" look, i.e. extra dark face and hands. The shop was comfortable and clean and even though being sprayed with cold, sticky mist while naked inside a tent is an odd experience, Diva Beauty was comfy and professional.

Con - The downside of being quick is it is a little painful. I think the wax they use isn't the best quality which explains the difference in price. But I would still recommend going there (unless you are very sensitive).

I feel compelled to reaffirm and expand on my previous glowing review of Lady Lash after having had…read moremy lashes done, with poor results, at three other salons in Sydney. I can't vouch for all the technicians who work at Lady Lash as I've only ever had my lashes done by Grace, but if they are all like her then this is without a doubt the best eyelash extension salon in Sydney. My reasons are as follows: 1. NO GLUE CLUMPS The first place I ever had lash extensions done at was a one-woman show in Darlinghurst. The girl who ran the salon was perfectly friendly and well-intentioned, but the eyelash job she did on me was the worst I have ever seen. I left that place with extensions glued to the skin of my eyelids, two or more fake lashes glued to each one of my real lashes, and so much dried glue clumped around the base of my lashes that it hurt to blink. After two days of stinging, watery eyes, I decided that I had to get my horrible extensions removed and replaced. I looked up 'remove eyelash extensions Sydney' on Google and that was how I found Lady Lash. When I got to the salon, Grace spent 15 minutes carefully removing my demonic Darlinghurst extensions with a special gel remover, and she managed to do this without damaging any of my natural lashes. Then she applied a new full set based on my preferences as to length, thickness, curl etc. When she was done, I couldn't believe how good my lashes looked. There were no glue clumps whatsoever and the extensions looked completely natural. Also, I couldn't feel them at all. They were glued to my natural lashes one-on-one, and there was no extension-to-skin contact at all. 2. LASHES LAST FOR AGES I have been to two other salons that have applied lash extensions without any visible glue, but their lashes did not last longer than a week before falling out. I soon realised that the reason there was no visible glue was because not enough glue was being used. At Lady Lash, they use enough glue to keep the lashes stuck on for ages, but not enough for the glue to actually be visible. The lashes will look good for over three weeks, and presentable for four to five weeks, so long as you take good care of them. 3. LOW PRICES Lady Lash charges $110 for a full set, and the number of lashes they give you (about 55 per eye) is more than adequate. The other three salons I have been to charge $120, $130 and $150 for a full set. I have also heard of places charging up to $180 for a full set. I have yet to find another salon that charges less than $110 for a full set. 4. FRIENDLY STAFF Grace is one of the most pleasant people I have ever come across. She always has a great big smile on her face when she greets you and even though her English is not perfect she always does her best to chat to you and answer any questions you might have. The lady who owns the business, Charlotte, is also extremely helpful and will always try her hardest to accommodate you for appointments, even at short notice. Which brings me to my next point... 5. PROFESSIONAL SERVICE There have been times when I've needed an appointment urgently and they have been all booked out but Charlotte has put me on a waiting list and then called me as soon as a spot has become available. Other examples of their professionalism are: - They text you 24 hours before your appointment to remind you of and confirm your booking. - On your first visit, they get you to fill out a questionnaire regarding what kind of lashes you want. They then keep your details on file so your lash technician can refer to them on your next visit. You can change your preferences at any time. - After your first visit, they give you an eyelash brush and an after-care tip card to help you look after your extensions. - They accept both cash and card. Many eyelash salons accept only cash, which can be a real pain as you always have to make sure you have gone to the ATM and withdrawn some $150 in cash before your appointment. 6. AWESOME DECOR I normally don't care about decor - if the service is good, that is enough for me - but the decor at Lady Lash is so lovely that I have to include it on this list. I actually liked the fit-out at their old place better (they recently moved to much bigger premises two doors down the road) but the current place is decorated really well too. The fact that the salon is aesthetically pleasing adds to the professionalism of the business and says to me that the women who run this place really take pride in their brand and their reputation. This is by far the longest and most comprehensive review I have ever written on Yelp, which just goes to show how much I love this business. If you are thinking about getting eyelash extensions done and you value all of the above attributes in an eyelash service, then Lady Lash is definitely worth a visit. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Had full set mink lashes done and within 24 hours they started falling out. When I reported this, they were nice enough to fit me in for an infill at a discount of $15. I felt like it was rushed and felt like glue/glue fumes seeped into my left eye causing a reaction where my eyes became swollen and has been red for days. The technician also managed to damage the upper layer of skin causing a burn while waxing my eyebrows. And then with 24 hours - the same happened again. Eyelashes fell out and this time I was $250 out of pocket with an eye infection, and damaged skin. I reported it again and got $145 refunded after much negotiation, though damage to my skin and eyes are taking time to heal. They shouldn't rush their craft as this is how mistakes happen.

The girls who work at Broadway (when I went anyway) were not only rude and unwelcoming, but they ripped through my facial hair like a lawnmower and with complete lack of regard for my pain! I felt like a plastic practice doll. I'd understand if they were busy but there was literally-no-one-there! Lazy af. I've been going to Blacktown over the past 2-3 years. NOT ANYMORE. The ladies when I first went were so lovely and did a fantastic job - I have no idea what happened to this one lady (I can't remember her name) but she was fantastic and super friendly. Last time I went was the WORST. The person doing my eyebrows was so rude and uninterested and just seemed intent on smiling at the customer next to me as she hacked at my brows in 1 minute flat. I tried my best to be polite and smile but this lady was so incredibly arrogant and rude - she was having none of it. Ever heard of customer service? I've worked in it for 5 years so I know it isn't hard to put on a smile, even if you're not feeling the best. Manners are free, love. Anyway, my eyebrows were terrible afterwards - covered in spots and lumps that were sore for weeks afterwards. I had blood spots all day afterwards which I've never had after any other appointment. My brows are wonky and don't match and the shape is AWFUL. So not worth the money, definitely not worth the pain. DO NOT GO HERE. TRUST ME. Save a bit more money and go somewhere better.

I asked for Shallac, which is the new long-wearing polish craze that enables you to wear your polish for up to two weeks without chipping ($35). If you're after a dark or bright color and don't want to look like a teenage punk rocker in a matter of days (read: polish half chipped off), I recommend giving this a shot. I chose a color and sat down. The girl worked quickly trimming / buffing / filing. I was relived that all the tools she used were sterilized- they all came out of sealed plastic pouches before touching my hands. When she started the polish process, I began alternating my hands under the little zap-power laser beam box of magic. Ok, I don't know what it really does, but it helps to set the polish. My manicure didn't come with any sort of hand massage, which was slightly disappointing, but in about 30 minutes, I had a flawless, shiny set of black nails. What's more, the treatment dries instantly. No risk of denting your polish as you search in handbag for your wallet. One tip: If you get Shellac, don't try and remove it yourself. Normal nail polish remover doesn't work and peeling it will remove the top layer of your nail. Pop back into Dezire and they will sort you out for only $5.

So one day I thought I would take the plunge and get a Fraxel treatment done. This is where the clinician would administer a laser over your face which treats sunspots, discolourations and fine lines. So am I happy with the results? In a word, NO. I found out later from a friend that she was advised not to get this treatment done by a doctor because it has the reverse effect on Japanese/Korean skin. And indeed thats what happened to me. My face got a bit darker despite being diligent with sunscreen/products and the texture has changed as well. It really peeves me off that the clinician knew of my background and still went ahead with the treatment. To have this outcome is so frustrating, especially after spending all that $$ and going through a week of bad side effects. So I would NOT recommend this place at all. I would rather go spend a bit more and see someone who has Dr in front of their name...
