On my arms, I have a bit of keratosis pilaris (very mild, little red dry bumps) and when I tried the 'Fruit Tingle' body scrub it pretty much got rid of 98% of them and my skin felt sooooo soft afterwards, never in my life have I had that; even after using moisturisers it would still come back. Not to mention the smell, praise the sugar lord, it's to die for!! I love the (OH) Passion fruit face cleanser too, takes of all my makeup at night time, recommend using a wet flannel with it. The body soaps are great too but I found it just got used up too quickly and didn't last very long. Definitely worth trying out and one tip, if you use the scrubs let it sit on your skin for a few minutes and you'll not only smell tasty but the product works better!

As you walk in you are greeted with the most amazing sweet smells. It's not overwhelming. It's just really refreshing and entrancing. I am a sucker for fruit & sweet scents, so Oh Deer Sugar products totally won me over. Not to mention that they are all totally cruelty free, vegan and made in our very own lil' city Adelaide. Hooray! The store owners are just so absolutely lovely and so happy to explain each an everyone of their products. I was totally walking around like I walked into the chocolate factory in the Roald Dahl book Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Only thing is, I couldn't eat anything. Although it sure smells like you can! Be sure to smell those chocolate block soaps. Yummo! All of the bath bombs, bubble baths and skin products almost look to pretty to use. So, you know you are in for a treat when you get a chance to use them. Some are in the shape of cup cakes with icing and glitter. So cute and makes for a great gift! Wow your friends and share the love for this store. I guarantee they will become as addicted as what you will be! The best part is that their bath bombs and bubble baths is that they are multi use! Unless you have a good knowledge of local suppliers, seasonal eating and food sovereignty, trying to eat ethically and affordably can be baffling. I'm no expert - which explains why I was buying zuchinnis at seven dollars a kilo instead of waiting a month for them to go down to three dollars a kilo. Most of the veges here are sourced directly from local suppliers and everything is labelled with information about where it comes from, whether it is organic, sprayed with any chemicals, all that stuff. If you ask, you can find out what has just come in, what is in season and really cheap, all that kind of stuff - the staff play a big role in the running of the business so they know all this firsthand. They are very, very friendly and passionate about eating good food. The big focus here is fresh fruit and vege, but they also stock meats, pasta, vegetarian products, canned goods, bread, cereal and even some body products. There is also a little cafe in the centre of the store, and a lovely seating area next to the window, with all the sunlight and breeze coming in. I tend to pick and choose what I like to buy from here - I can't afford to shop only organic, which is why talking to the staff about what is in season helps so much. There are a few special things I can't resist though. The Mylor Bakery bread is the most expensive bread I've ever bought - between eight and eleven dollars a loaf - but it is also the greatest and best bread I've ever eaten. I would recommend the fruit loaf (loaded with heaps of figs, apricots, really moist and spicy) and the olive and pumpkin loaf (so good that eating it with anything else on it is a travesty).

But it has adopted a more organised and structured market layout now which makes it a lot easier to navigate. Fruit, veg and produce still remain quite expensive for their organic label but I'm a sucker for that stuff. This is the perfect place to drop in for a green Shrek smoothie or protein ball, vegan chocolate brownie or spinach pastie when you're trying to be healthy after attending a pilates class down the road. Just don't be in a rush as they do run on peace and love time here. Staff are incredibly friendly and laid back. Variety of food is great for the size of the shop and I kind of hope they stay here over their Gouger St premises! One hot tip: Check out their Facebook page for secret specials every week. ie. King Island honey on tap and the elusive Quest energy bars in full range that are all the rage in the US without the kick in the teeth prices. I came here for the protein bars my friend had raved about and found them pretty cheap and in huge variety, the staff were lovely as well. And yes, you can smoke them. And yes, they make you feel things. So, I can't see the different between legal smoking herbs and illegal smoking herbs. But then, maybe I oughtn't use my eyes for the differentiation. Not all the herbs for sale are for smoking, though. Some are for rubbing on the skin, other are for direct ingestion, and other are for smelling. There are health and performance boosters and aphrodisiacs too. But what caught my eye, because I lucked out with an awesome star sign, was the zodiac sticks of incense. As I was ready the astrological description on the front of the packet and discovering how awesome I am, a throng of teenagers entered the store. The young, beautiful lady behind the counter handled them with - as Hemingway would put it - grace under pressure. The teenagers were asking her about certain herbs, which she assured them they were too young to buy. Then they began asking if there was anything that could make their 'dicks bigger'. Now, maybe they engineer teenagers differently these days, but a few years ago I wasn't going around heartily declaring my anatomy needed any sort of modification. I assured everyone I met that it was of a very generous proportion. And my friends did the same. Whether it was true or not. Regardless, she didn't buckle under the pressure and that, I think, is to be commended.

He was certainly very happy and chilled ( I am guessing he isn't averse to smoking a few of the less legal variety of "happy herbs".) The shop has a vast array of medicinal herbs in packets displayed on the walls. Most of the herbs I was told are grown locally if possible. The packets of herbs give good information on what the herb is good for treating or preventing. I came out with a treasure trove of leaves to boil up for different ailments. It is enlightening to see the herbs that are usually hidden in tablets in their natural (although dried) state. So if you want to find a tea to brew for sugar cravings or to help your immune system etc wander in and have a look around.

Detox Diets ie Lemon Detox (which I purchased a while ago but haven't tried yet!). Skincare products, books on various health topics, yes and more. They have a really good website and be sure to look in the recipe section for ideas and if you into Gluten Free cooking, definitely have look :-)

Example: I needed a run of black beans and they'd run out. The lady taught me that I should really buy raw/dried beans and cook my own. So I walked out with a large collection of dried beans, soaked them, cooked them and they're now in the freezer waiting to be used. The organic fruit and veg selection is great, there's a zillion different kinds of tofu and tempeh and all the bulk grains you can imagine. I seriously love shopping here, it's the highlight of my grocery shopping experience.

The point of difference is that they stock fresh juices which are damn hard to find elsewhere... so when you just gotta find FRESH (not ocean spray, or any other supermarket brand) cranberry or blueberry juice for Iggy pop within the next 24 hours Marden Health is the place to go. They cost so much it's evident they've been hand squeezed by faries... but I don't think popstars really consider financial trivialities like $40 juices.

There are aisles of wholemeal organic pasta, flours, nuts, and organic coffee and teas etc. On the other side of the shop is a large range of health and beauty products, including organic and free-of-everything hair-care, moisturisers, make-up and more. At the front of the shop is a small cafe connected to the register. What initially caught me was the sign for $6 organic coffee and vegan muffin. I'm not vegan, but I try to eat it when I'm able, so I bee-lined for the counter. I got myself a latte and a berry muffin, and some free reading material. For an organic coffee, I was impressed. Having just read about the sins of sugar, I had my coffee without my usual one teaspoon, which could have been a mistake since I often need to sugar to take the edge of the bitterness. This however was fine without, and not bitter at all, though maintaining its flavour. It wasn't quite like normal coffee, but I couldn't pin-point why that was. Still, I was happy with it. Vegan sweets are mostly really moist, and this was no exception. I couldn't tell it was vegan apart from its density, and I love a dense muffin, so no complaints here.

Organic can be pricey as I'm sure you're well aware (I sure as hell am being a uni student) but they do some ok deals on select items. We always browse their discounted items section and scab a few bargains. We shop around quite a bit for organic items and I must say they do alright on price, range and quality. If more big retailers can push organic hopefully it will become more affordable, without compromising the ethics ("free-range" eggs are an example of how standards can be watered down for corporate greed). In the meantime Romeo's Organic Wholefoods is on my list of places to source stuff from. Highly recommend for those that are like-minded!

Even if you do treat yourself it will be with something wholesome, macro-biotically good for you and probably saved 2 baby lambs in the process of being produced. On a serious side though this place is a one stop shop for vitamins, body building products, teas, snacks, breads and your basic foods, health and beauty and CD's of waterfall sounds from around the globe. And you don't feel like you have not be wearing shoes to go in there. The lunches are amazingly fresh with healthy salads of beetroot and beans, carrot and beans, tabouli, falafels and everything else good. You can also get them in wrap or sandwich form. Unfortunately the coffee is pretty ordinary and the service isn't amazing (unless you're a regular and they then remember your order back and front) but you would definitely still come in here for a healthy take away lunch on weekdays or weekends. And if you have any sort of intolerance or special diet you can definitely cater for it here.

Admittedly I did just pop in for coffee and a quick browse but it didn't leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. As I walked in on the pursuit of coffee, I noticed a sign on the coffee machine "Fresh Almond Milk" as someone who's tummy does not agree with cows milk, I thought "yay another coffee shop offering an alternative to Soy". So I ordered and paid for my coffee - Small Almond Milk Latte w an Extra Shot - $5.80 and at that price my expectations immediately soared. I had a browse around the store and noticed quite a few health food products & brands that I am already familiar with, some of which I can purchase in my local (shhh don't tell anyone but chain store) supermarket. The barista hunted me out in the store and hand delivered my coffee while I was browsing, this was really lovely of her and I think I was just lucky to have popped in at a quite time to get this kind gesture but it was a HUGE step up from the "nothing" service I had received when ordering. Unfortunately with high hopes for my coffee I was quickly brought back to earth with my first sip. It was only just luke warm, gritty, sour, very very weak in strength (even with my order of a double shot) actually, it did not even smell like coffee. I had a few sips to make sure I wasn't delusional, but although my taste buds hated me, it confirmed it was actually the worst coffee I have had in a very long time. It's left such a bad taste in my mouth (pun 100% intended) that I won't be back to sample the sweets or salads from their cabinet.
