I've called every month since and still had nothing done on my case just excuses of why nothing has been done. I was told I would not get the retainer back . It is so bizarre that they can take a retainer and never provide a service and still keep your money. Fraudulent attorney.

Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Throughout my representation, I repeatedly requested updates regarding my case but often received vague responses, delayed replies, or no response at all. Many of my emails went unanswered, leaving me frustrated and uncertain about the status of my case during an already difficult time. I was also concerned by the lack of billing transparency. Despite being told that my retainer had been depleted by accrued fees, I repeatedly requested itemized billing statements and an accounting of my funds. Although I was advised that billing was being prepared, I never received documentation explaining or supporting the charges. Due to the lack of communication, transparency, and progress in my case, I ultimately retained new counsel, resulting in additional legal expenses. To date, I have not received a complete accounting of my retainer funds. This review reflects my personal experience as a former client.

My experience with Matt Kowtko was not a pleasant one. At first he sounded like he was on my side…read moreand said all the right things to assist me in my divorce. However, from the very first set of documents sent to me where all the pronouns were incorrect, to the end where he never truly acknowledged my abuse at the hands of my ex-huband. I have since consulted with another attorney that reinforced my fears that I was not properly represented in my settlement. I am still struggling with the aftermath of this divorce settlement and had to hire another attorney to enforce the divorce decree. I tried to fire him but according to the papers I signed, I would not get my money back so I stuck with him even tho I knew he was not helping my cause. My ex hid all kinds of assets from me and lied about the value of the assets. (I provided video proof of this) He also sold all of our marital property without my consent, the proceeds of which he kept to himself. Purchased a new truck for $56k, sold our marital boat and took $20k from our savings account to pay it off. Mr. Kowtko called it a wash because I took $60k out of my 401k to purchase furniture and obtain an apartment. If you are a woman, do not hire him to represent you in your divorce.
