The food was sub par considering it's a New York diner. We ordered a pastrami sandwich and it was so tough, it was inedible. We complained to the waiter and he said he told the manager who never bothered to come to our table to talk to us. When we went to pay we asked her about it and She said we didn't tell the waiter quick enough. We returned 3/4 of the sandwich. I guess she thought we were trying to get away with something, that was not the case at all. I suggested she try it in the kitchen and she said she did. She was so rude and obnoxious. I hate to put a one star review after having had a good experience at dinner. So much so that we left a $20 check on a $35 check. But such is not the experience my son and I had today. I had my heart set on ordering oatmeal but knowing that wouldn't be enough to satiate my hunger, I ordered corned beef hash & eggs platter which came with fries and toast. My son ordered the pizza burger medium rare with curly Cajun fries. My son received it medium well. When I ordered my oatmeal, I asked for brown sugar. He told me they don't have brown sugar. I was taken aback. What place serves oatmeal without brown sugar? I confirmed by asking, "then what do you serve with you at oatmeal?" He told me that the oatmeal doesn't come with anything. But I ordered it anyway so that's not the issue. So what's the issue then, you ask? When I prepare to eat my corned beef hash & eggs, I always add salt & pepper. Well, not this time. Assuming that the shakers on the table was the salt & pepper shakers, I proceeded to sprinkle them on my plate. It was clearly visible on the eggs, especially on one so I called the server over and told him what happened. I never send food back. I know better. I've seen servers play with problematic customers' food when they complain. The kitchen staff also messes with food that's been sent back. So all I asked for is another egg. Just one egg because I thought I would just scrape off the one that didn't have as much on it. He didn't seem pleased. Was it because of all my questions regarding the oatmeal? Was it because I asked for milk for the oatmeal? Was it because I asked for a side of mayo? Who knows? What I do know is that I wasn't sending back my food to be messed with. That's for sure. When I started to eat my food, I realized that I sprinkled the cinnamon powder all over but since I couldn't find the server, I just decided not to touch my plate and asked to speak with the manager. I assured him that I wasn't going to complain about him, especially since he finally had a pleasant demeanor this time around. When the manager came, she seemed to understand the issue and told me she would take care of it. However, that only meant she had to ask the owner. Apparently, she wasn't empowered to fix any problems with their diners. She came back and told me that they took of the corned beef hash but still charged me for the rest of the meal. She seemed apologetic. I called her back when I realized all they took off was $3.25. she called the owner over. The owner approached our table already fuming. When I told her that I was not happy with how they handled the inconvenience, she told me "it's not our fault that your put cinnamon powder on your food." I told her that they provided the 2 shakers, neither had black pepper in them. She then said "well, that's the previous customers. That's not our fault." Apparently, they are blameless. They are without fault. I then told her that they should have taken off the correct price for the side of corned beef. She told me they didn't sell it as a side. So she charged me for the 2 egg platter. $9.25 wasn't even the price of that platter. The menu said $8.25. She grabbed the check to correct it. She walked away mumbling, "it's not my fault she messed up her own dish and now I have to pay for it?" Amazing customer service! I stayed to drink my coffee. If I'm being charged for food that I didn't eat because of their mistake then I was going to sip my coffee at a leisurely pace, at the expense of them losing $ on my table. I am not one to be petty but this time seemed like an appropriate time to be. DO NOT COME TO THIS DINER. The owner is a big /3ITC!-! She doesn't care about your experience. Too bad too. I came back because of the evening experience weeks ago. I tip generously coming from my F&B experience. Not this time though. Do not raise your blood pressure on account of this owner. I used to go to this diner years ago and it was pretty good. Yesterday, my husband decided we should go there for old times sake. The first thing that happened was we walked in to a strong smell of a vape pen. Another customer asked about the vape smell and was muttered something about someone was using a vape but were now gone. I should have left at that point. I ordered the $21.00 Romanian steak wrap. What I received was a small wrap with cut pieces of meat like you would cut for a toddler, a few pieces of white onion and toddler sized pieces of rubbery bacon. The fries looked like they were taken from different orders. My husband ordered the Gus sandwich which was a larger sandwich that had a thin chicken breast on each half of stale Italian bread, a slice of cheddar, bacon and an almost invisible smear of Russian dressing. This sandwich was dry. None of the food was fresh. I would never ever go back to this diner. This diner obviously doesn't care, the food was disappointing and just gross. We took a few bites to be polite and chalked it up to...we won't ever come back. Today I ordered Eggs on a croissant and my wife ordered a pumpkin waffle. Sign outside says open 24/7. Call them and they tell you they are open 24/7. Arrive at the restaurant at 3:15 AM and they tell you it's takeout only after you wait at the counter for five minutes while they say they'll be right with you. You should have a sign out alerting people right away that it's takeout only and not have them stay in there for five minutes just to tell them that only for them to leave. read more

My go to diner! Parking is easy; large lot in back. The menu is HUGE! There is something for everyone. The prices are definitely fair for their portions. I've been coming here for a few years now and Lighthouse is always a good choice. I usually go at night and order anything from a wrap to pancakes to a salad. This last time I went in the morning with some friends and I got huevos rancheros and it was amazing. The only think I've ever had from the menu that wasn't the best was their spicy burger where it was just like a regular burger. Another thing is that the prices aren't the cheapest. Never again! My family and I just came from the lighthouse diner and we'll never return! We were craving full course traditional diner meals, and didn't see any at all on the menu. After settling for sandwiches, when we paid we noticed a stack of paper dinner specials that we were never given! When I told the manager how upset and disappointed we were, he got very defensive and said everyone makes mistakes! Visit Date: June 19, 2015 I've been here before but surprisingly I never reviewed it. My most recent visit was a group visit with my family and an old family friend. I had the bread from the bread basket, mozarella sticks, and the greek pizza. Everything was delicious, the bread was fresh with just a tiny amount of crustiness to it. The mozzarella sticks were cheesy and salty and when they were dipped in the marinara sauce there was just the right amount of great tastiness. The greek pizza was pretty good too. Update review: My first time was top notch. Service and food was GREAT. The second time was New Years Day 2018. The food and service was a complete 180 from my first visit. Gus, the owner reached out to me and invited me back for a meal that mimicked my first visit. I was able to pass by this past Saturday. Ordered my breakfast and it was GREAT, like the first visit. Service was very attentive and Gus came by to make sure everything was up to par. He did right by me and I can say not all owners invite you back to prove they are as good as they are. I had the most awful experience here with the manager. I also have never written a review before- But- this needs to be said.. The owner - or manager not sure which was yelling and extremely rude when I mentioned to our waitress that my meal was not tasting "right" (I took 1 small bite) , I have had feta cheese many times before, but this panini with feta was very , very "sour". . The waitress was very sweet and it seemed as though this was not an usual thing to hear. She immediately told me it would be taken off the bill and asked if I wanted anything else in its place. I spoke with the manager or owner- he was extremely nasty to me - a paying customer (I wasnt the only one who ordered at my table). He told me that I would indeed pay for what I ordered. (a $15 meal). I told him I had no issue wit that but had an issue with the way he was talking to me. He insisted the meal was fine (even after NOT tasting it) and that I ordered it and so had to pay for it. I would have no problem paying for it had he not been so nasty in the way he spoke to me. We paid for what we ate , drank and left a nice tip and left in the rain . The manager (or owner) followed us out yelling and saying he was calling the police. In the rain, this man stood and continued to rant. He then went inside and sent out his waitress int he rain and she told us he told her not to let the car leave till we paid. This poor women was sent out for $14 andmade to stand in the rain in an uncomfortable situation. Of course at that point, we gave her $20 and left. While in the parking lot another patron of the diner came over to us as they heard all the commotion. They told us they werent thrilled with their food but mostly were mortified at how the manager-owner treated me (a senior woman). With all the diners to chose from, avoid this one! read more
