Chicken piccata plate

Friendly and speedy service for this nice sit down place where you order your food from the counter. There was chronically a line out the door at dinner time on a Tuesday. The garlic fries were super greasy and crispy. The homemade sodas went well with them. I enjoyed the BBQ tofu burger which was more of a slab of tofu than an actual burger, which was fine. If I was local I could see going there often. It seemed to be a popular place. The art on the walls, on the ceiling, and in the bathroom, we're done by a local artist who happened to be dining in the establishment at the time so it was nice to meet her and hear about the art.

Single scoop blueberry and vanilla ice cream

We came here because we were staying nearby and my kids were craving ice cream. The ice cream was so good. They had blueberry and vanilla in waffle cones. We also ordered dinner food which was just ok. That savory waffle with all the fixings was not good at all. We all took a bite and moved on. The highlight was the smoked tuna melt. My fish and chips was just ok and my son liked his chowder with added bacon. The staff was informative and answered questions we had. Good place to go for dinner and definitely get ice cream.

Cutest little spot in a little fishing town! Muriel's on the ceiling, local artistry on the walls. Serving up and seafood and other select menu items. Service was great!

Mashed potatoes, bacon, meat cone, very nice place to eat, staff very polite, no long wait for your food, This food was so good perfect.

The food was great, we ordered a mashed potatoes meat, cheese cone and the staff was polite. Our order came fast.,

Garlic fries- overcooked and soooo greasy!

We were so disappointed today. We ordered two cones "all the way" and garlic fries. The garlic fries were soooo over cooked and very greasy. The consistency of the mashed potatoes was gluey and the "house made" waffle cones (which are usually so delicious!) were also over done, almost burnt. The cones were somewhat edible but we barely touched the fries. The cleanliness of this place had really taking a turn- the front glass doors were dirty and the floors were filthy. My husband ordered a Lost Coast root beer that is "on tap" and there was little carbonation and it was not cold. The staff barely looked up while taking orders or serving food. The good vibes just weren't there like they use to be. We regret going out of our way to eat here. Sadly I don't think we will be returning. I wish I had a pic of the cones but all I managed to get was a pic of the fries. What a bummer- we use to love this place and bringing our friends & family here.

Take out fish and chips.

Fish and chips was completely inedible and was tossed away. Wish I had looked in the box before departing. Steer clear of these greasy duds. Stick to the cones.

What a disappointment. The Lighthouse Grill completely missed the mark on quality, flavor, and customer service. The fish and chips were greasy and bland -- hardly deserving of the title "catch of the day." If this is fresh, I'd hate to imagine what it's like after a few days. Worst fish and chips ever. The fish sandwich didn't fare any better. It was undercooked and equally lacking in flavor. I found myself reaching for ketchup just to make the meal somewhat bearable -- never a good sign for seafood. To top it off, the service was lacking. A young blonde staff member interrupted our waitress mid-order without so much as an apology, which was rude and unprofessional. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. I regret not reading the recent reviews beforehand. I won't be returning. $78 in the trash. Sad, because, the location is perfect.

Beautiful area to walk around nearby.

I ordered the fish and chips. Everything was fresh and made to order. There's art available for purchase, as well. I purchased one of the paintings of Patrick's Point. Kind service. If I ever go to Trinidad, California again... I'll be stopping by. Home town feel. Peaceful.

Savory cone w/ pulled pork

My friends and I stopped by The Lighthouse Grill for a quick dinner on our drive home after a weekend of hiking. We found it on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Lighthouse Jammin' Burger with a gluten-free bun, a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, and a side salad with ranch. While I appreciated the gluten-free bun option, the burger itself was disappointing. The jalapeño jelly and goat cheese were barely noticeable, and the flavor overall was underwhelming. Two of my friends also ordered the same burger, but requested it well-done, and it came out rare--so they had to send it back to be remade. The mashed potatoes and gravy were bland, but the side salad was refreshing and had a nice variety of veggies. I also tried their ginger lemonade, which was decent. We arrived around 4:30 PM when it wasn't busy, but with only two people working (one at the counter and one in the back), the wait for our food was quite long. This delayed our trip home more than we expected. Overall, The Lighthouse Grill was an okay stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. They could improve on food quality and service speed.

Beef brisket sandwich in a cone

When my sister said "sandwich on a cone" I didn't think I would enjoy this spot! But after, omg it was delicious! We got the beef brisket in a cone! It was so yummy! The mashed potatoes were so soft and fluffy! There is plenty of seating inside and outside! They have lot of parking in the parking lot! You order and you get your number and they bring it to you table, the staff is welcoming and nice! I definitely will come back when visiting my sister! Super yummy!

Food was awful, no French fries, fish/chips, ice cream. Clam chowder was consistency of wall paste. Tuna melt bread was soaked through.

A Cozy Coastal Gem with Fantastic Food and Service!…read more We stopped by the Trinidad Bay Eatery and Gallery for an early dinner during our trip. Located in the quaint coastal town of Trinidad, the restaurant is in a beautiful spot with ocean views just a two-minute walk away. The ambiance inside is cozy and welcoming, the staff are friendly, and we were seated after only a short 5-minute wait. The food was absolutely top-notch, and everything came out fresh and flavorful: * Chicken Burger: This came on a ciabatta bread along with coleslaw and the most amazing aioli sauce. It was incredibly juicy, warm, and flavorful. * Clam Chowder & Local Beet Salad: Both of these dishes were outstanding. The clam chowder was rich and comforting. The Local Beet Salad features organic seasonal greens, organic beets, local goat cheese, sunflower seeds, a balsamic reduction, and a citrus vinaigrette--it was top-notch and incredibly fresh. * Kids' Chicken Nuggets: My son got this from the kids' menu, which comes with a side of ranch and a generous portion of crispy fries that he really enjoyed. * Cajun Alfredo Pasta: My daughter ordered the rice pasta version of this dish, which features a creamy Cajun spiced sauce and garden herbs, making it a wonderful, flavorful gluten-free pasta option. * Blackberry Cobbler & Chocolate Ice Cream: For dessert, we shared the cobbler made with Marion blackberries and a sweet cinnamon crumble topping. It was served warm with vanilla bean ice cream melting on top and tasted absolutely amazing. My son also got the chocolate ice cream and he loved it. * Vanilla Latte: We also grabbed a vanilla latte, which was perfectly crafted, smooth, and delicious. Our server, Annie, was incredibly friendly and nice, making our family dinner feel even more special. If you are in the area, this is a wonderful place to stop for great food and a warm, local atmosphere!

The staff at Trinidad Bay Eatery were all exceptionally kind and appeared to genuinely engage with their guests. The atmosphere is exactly what one would hope for in a coastal eatery. We ordered clam chowder, fish and chips, and a chicken ciabatta sandwich. The chowder was excellent and among the top chowders I've ever enjoyed. The fish and chips were plentiful and the quality and thickness of the fish were unmatched. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her sandwich and fries with a California branded malt vinegar. We HIGHLY recommend stopping by!

Perusing the menu, I decided to "shoot the works", so to speak, and go for the shrimp and crab omelette. It comes with cheese, but I chose not to have the cheese, and instead of potatoes I had fruit. There was a one dollar upcharge for the fruit, not a big deal, but I wish they would've told me about it. The food comes, and it is amazing! They were extremely generous with both the crab and the shrimp, and there was also just a little bit of mushroom in the omelette. The shrimp were tender, and the crab was so wonderfully savory. It was an absolutely amazing omelette. Next time, I would ask for it with a little bit of cocktail sauce on the side, because I think that would just totally put it over the top. But I am not complaining about this breakfast at all. The fruit was very nice, very fresh pieces of pineapple and melon. It also came with a wonderfully flaky biscuit with honey. What a breakfast! The breakfast wasn't cheap, the omelette was $29. But when you consider how much crab and shrimp they stuffed into that thing, it was more than worth it. I would gladly come back for that omelette, and to try more things on the menu as well. Thank you again for a great breakfast.

Pretty good service but the food was really underwhelming for a fine dining experience. Charcuterie board looked visually appealing but was depressing flavor-wise. For a board that had pâté, bread, goat cheese, etc., the best things on it were sadly the sliced apples and cheese. The two slices of cucumber on the board just felt out of place. Appetizer portions for the Claudia's Rosemary Roasted Garlic were very small for a $16 dish, but luckily tasted great. I got the Smoked Beef Brisket for $35 expecting tender, flavorful brisket but it was unfortunately very dry. The sauce on it was okay but it didn't blow my socks off. My partner got the Cordon Bleu chicken dish and thought it tasted like chicken fried steak from your average diner. The ice cream we got for dessert over our chocolate cake was super freezer burnt. Wine was yummy at least. You're much better off going to the Trinidad Bay Eatery if you're in the area. Ambiance is much better, portions are bigger, lots more items on the menu, flavors are good...The wait is well worth it if they put you down on the list.

Good, beets were a bit over done for my taste but the buratta with the pistachios was very good. We tried the clam chowder and were not disappointed. This is what chowder should be, velvety and rich. You could taste the clams which were tender and sweet. Exceptional chowder! We ordered the crab fondue and were not disappointed! Creamy crabby deliciousness! My only critique would be the bread could have been more bite sized but I just cut mine and enjoyed every bite. Partner had fish and chips. Good. Rockfish was fresh and tasty. Tartar sauce was ok, I prefer mine a bit herbier. We also had Fettuccine with chicken and Alfredo. Chicken was seasoned well and cooked perfect, still juicy and tender. Alfredo was very good. Fresh fettucini was not so fresh, that was the only real disappointment of the meal. If the menu says fresh pasta my expectations are high and this was not fresh. It may have been made in house but not today. I wanted the scallops but they were out, owner said they are on him next time... I would come back either way. This is fine dining but not stuffy and over done. The prices are what I expect at a restaurant if this caliber and the service and food met that standard. I am excited to return and try the rest of the menu!

That was such a great experience that I stopped in again on a similar road trip in 2019. Fast forward to 2026. My husband and I were taking that same route and made sure that Arcata and Salt were on the itinerary. I was looking forward to the amazing risotto I'd had in the past! I was disappointed to discover that the location, the vibe, and the menu have all changed. That said, we still enjoyed our meal. I ordered the Market Salad. It was fresh and the dressing was light and delicious. It was large enough to share. Not realizing how large the salad would be, my husband also ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly with a light breading and it wasn't not greasy at all. For our main course, we split the Salsiccia pizza. It was the perfect size for us to share, especially given the appetizers we had. The amount of toppings were on the sparser side, but that just might be the nature of that pizza. Side note on the service: Our server was friendly enough but she was not very familiar with the menu. I asked if I could substitute the lettuce in the Market Salad for romaine and she didn't think that was possible. I explained I didn't want field greens and/or big leaves and she assured me those were not used in the salad. She said she thought it was iceberg and it was chopped very fine. With that, I ordered the salad. When it arrived, it was actually bibb lettuce that was left in relatively large pieces. At least it wasn't field greens! In their new location, they have a great patio. If I were a local, I think this could be a great place to hang out and enjoy their crafty cocktails. But since I'm not, I don't think I'll be back to Salt.
