I visited The Hub because my best friend--a white man from the area (and you'll soon see why that detail matters)--and I love antiquing. I was in town from New York, working on an art exhibit, and excited to explore. Upon arrival, one of the employees kindly gave me a small basket to carry items as I browsed. But as we walked around, five different employees approached me, asking to take the very basket they had given me and place it at the front. Each time, I politely said, "No thank you, I'm still looking." My friend and I both found it strange and excessive. At the time, I didn't fully realize what was happening--but in hindsight, it's painfully clear I was being profiled. Later, after I left my basket at the front to check out their downstairs section--which isn't connected inside the building--an employee chased me down to ask whether I had returned a necklace I had tried on moments earlier. I told them I had, and when they asked if I knew where I'd returned it, I explained, "I can show you when I come back upstairs to purchase my items." By then, the message was loud and clear: I was being watched, singled out, and treated with suspicion--all because I'm Latina. I felt shaken and anxious. When I went back upstairs, I pointed out the necklace to them and then calmly shared how the entire experience had made me feel. Two employees, who seemed to be managers, offered no apology--just awkward attempts to make small talk and jokes about the items I was purchasing, as if nothing had happened. Despite the way I was treated, I still bought my items--because the booths are run by independent local vendors, and I wanted to support their work. But I left feeling humiliated, targeted, and deeply hurt. I cried in the car. If you are a person of color, be aware: The Hub is not a welcoming space. Think twice before supporting a business that treats people this way. read more

An awesome antique shop that has a little bit of everything! This is one of those places where you just need a LOT of time to browse and look and discover and...come back a few times or you'll miss a lot. Prices are retail reasonable for most items, and I doubt you'll come across much that's in the way of being an undiscovered treasure or greatly under-priced find. Having said that, this is still a GREAT place to find unique and nifty this and that sorts of very cool old stuff! read more

This is an awesome mall I always visit at least once when in Pittsburgh. Their employees are kind, helpful and I generally purchase several items before leaving the mall. Just a comment about the Latina woman who felt she was profiled. Having been in retail for many years, it is very possible she unknowingly gave a vibe (that had nothing to do with her race) that alerted The Hub that a theft might occur. In all fairness, that is what I might consider versus feeling prejudiced against. Having been to this mall several times through the years, I have never witnessed or experienced any negative interaction. Most antique malls welcome a wide variety of collectors from all walks of life who often are unique and eclectic in their appearances and tastes. Not to minimize at all how she felt, but the mall should be given the benefit of the doubt regarding this unfortunate situation. Just my two cents. read more

Not quite sure why there are so few reviews for this place. How does one walk into 20,000 square feet of antiques, vintage collectables, used furniture, and more, and end up with a less than ideal experience. Hard to understand, since the place is tops as far as providing an inviting atmosphere and the ease of allowing one to wander around, and tinker with all the various booths, and displays, without feeling as if you must buy something in order to validate your time there. Staff on hand were friendly, and incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about their business. They were quick to offer assistance and recommendations on several items we were purchasing. Merchandise changes often, so if you see it, and like it, get it. Some vendors do offer additional discounts, so be sure to ask. Check hours of operation before going. read more

The Lincoln Highway Hub is definitely a place that you can get lost in. Not just in the physical sense, which I did at one point, but in the nostalgia sense. This multileveled store is packed full of treasures waiting to be rediscovered by someone new. I have been meaning to get here on multiple occasions but somehow just miss it. The last time I stopped to come in to shop they store was closed down so that the vendors could redesign their stalls. A little breakdown of what it is like inside. This is basically a consignment shop where the building/business owner takes a cut of each sale of items within a vendor's stall. Each vendor has a designated area where they display their items. You will notice on the tags initials so that when you do make your purchase the sale goes to the right person. For a consignment shop, I have to say this is one of the most well organized, well designed, and easy flowing ones out there. I mean, I did get lost once and turned around, but I made it through here in one piece. You will find every and any thing you can imagine here. I'm a big map buff and noticed several globes/maps throughout. It is hard to pinpoint what/if you might find what you are looking for in here. It does take some time in here to venture through it all, but it is well worth it if you have the time to spare. The only thing I do not like is the usage of "vintage" and "antique." Just because it is old does not make it one of those. There is a difference between vintage/antique and near disrepair. I felt that every piece that I liked was labeled as vintage/antique and with that the price was higher than it probably should be. I mean this is a consignment shop in the long haul, no need to price so high. If you did mean to do that, take those items to an actual antique store. read more

This venue is vastly bigger on the inside than it looks to be on the outside. Room after room of old "stuff" awaits. Some of it is antique, vintage. I like the term "mid-century" used to describe my era of things, especially furniture. Gosh! It's been that long ago??? LOL It definitely is a fun place to explore for old games, toys, furniture, vinyl records, etc. One can get lost easily because you start out thinking you will tackle one room at a time in an orderly fashion but you end up in a maze. I have fun when I have about an hour to spend aimlessly. But, I will admit to rarely buying anything. After all, I've already lived in an era gone by, already sat at a formica-laden table of my youth, already been to the horse race depicted by the KY Derby glass I hold fondly, remember my mother wearing the vintage hat I see and the memory is enough, already purchased a streaming version of any 70's tune I want to replay....but it is nice to visit just in case... read more

Admittedly, I am a browsy-browser, a lover of antiques and fun vintage finds. The Hub is one of my favorite spots in the Pittsburgh area. I've been going here for many years, watching it grow and fill out. It has only gotten better. The place is HUGE, and unlike many thrifty antique spots, it is not filled with flea-market-type stuff or a bunch of country crafts. (No offense to the lovers of country crafts... just not what I'm looking for in a vintage/antique spot.) It is clean and tidy and there's definitely a comfortable, down-to-earth atmosphere. Everyone that works there is super friendly and helpful. Sometimes I even gab with a vendor or two. As far as pricing goes, I find most booths to be fairly priced. I almost never leave empty-handed. Some of the items I've scored at The Hub are as follows: holiday blow molds, popcorn decor, ceramic Christmas trees, MCM glassware, quirky knick knacks, Christmas ornaments and retro planters--to name a few. Really a great place to look for antiques. The booths smoothly run from one to another. You can easily tell the theme of the booths as well. There are multiple floors, but only a few steps between each one, so it is easy to navigate. The prices are very reasonable. We don't often leave there without buying something. There always seems to be a lot of customers and a very eclectic mix. I enjoy walking around and taking those steps back in history. read more

This store has some great finds. I came here looking for furniture and accessories for my living room, but sadly I didn't find anything that fit the vibe of what I was looking for. This place is huge though. It took us 3 hours to get through the whole store. They have some great jewelry selections. I was tempted many times to purchase some with beautiful stones. I ended up getting a vintage Coach wallet and sunglasses from booth M-6. Make sure to check out their Facebook page to see if there are any deals/sales going on when you visit. When I went almost every booth was 20-30% off. Also don't forget to check out the lower level. You have to access it from the outside of the building so it's easy to forget it exists, but there are some great finds down there as well. read more

Went to The Hub, an antique mall with various vendors, this weekend for their Holidays sales and didn't have a great experience... but I can see the value in this mall and have great hope for the future! My personal experience was sadly ruined. The items I chose to purchase were from a booth that advertised 20% off everything over $20. So, I picked out a $48 bracelet as an Xmas present for my Mom and a $9 pair of earrings for myself. When I reached the counter, I was told that even though the booth had advertised 20% off the item wasn't on sale because that particular vendor was selling the piece for another vendor. Totally confusing and disappointing. I then tried to purchase the $9 pair of earrings, and was told that they have a $15 minimum to use a credit card. Btw, that's illegal - under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, you cannot impose any limit over $10 on credit cards - and I would have just told them to charge me $10. After driving all the way to North Versailles from the North Hills to check out this antique mall, my experience was really disheartening. However, there are beautiful things in this antique mall - and I definitely encourage other people to go take a peek! There are some really great antique clothes for women and men, lots of mid-century modern bar ware and Xmas decor, and reasonably priced vintage furniture. Be wary of the jewelry - there are a lot of brand new pieces mixed in with the old. But, overall, there are lots of very nice antique and vintage items. Oh, and check out the separate mall downstairs, especially if you love furniture and decor! Advice for the future to whomever runs this establishment: maybe try a flat-rate sale next time for all the vendors, and definitely lower the credit card minimum to $10 so you don't get fined. You never know who you're selling to, and you don't want to alienate potential long-term customers. read more

My husband and I LOVE this place. There are so many items to choose from on the top level and don't forget to go to the downstairs shop! We try to go once a week and have made quite a few purchases there. Look for Cindy when you go in--she is the best!!! read more
