The Lodge in Pasadena. Nice crowd for a Thursday night.
Matt F.

Went back to The Lodge for a fresh start. Lasagna was good and burger was perfect. Firecracker shrimp was awesome. Friendly and quick service.

Everything was poor. Food. Drinks. Service. Time management. Managers. Awful experience every single time. Water took ten mins and two requests. Dirty martini was the color of the Magothy River. Joell the manager said that's because they "use real olive juice" which literally makes no sense. Replacement wine took ten minutes. Salmon entrees were served half raw. Took fifteen mins for the manager to bring us a check (which was comped since we pretty much ate and drank nothing but a glass of wine and a few Brussels) just so we could get out of there. Manager was disgusting and rude. Server didn't know what vermouth was. Havent met one person that enjoys their time there.

I was excited for this location to open since we enjoyed the The Blackwall Barn & Lodge in Gambrills and they had the same menu. The front host (manager) was really sweet and our server did a good job too considering what we've encountered. We've requested a large table, which we got, and from there, it kind of went downhill. My party of 6 ordered our food and while we were waiting for our apps, found a squished bug on the table. No big deal, we cleaned it up. Once the food arrived, we constantly had to swat the flies away. No big deal, it happens. Once my entree arrived, there was a dead fly right on my food. I told our server and she took it back. Everyone else waited for me to get my food back (which came pretty quickly, about 5-10 minutes later) before they started eating. My parents ordered their steak medium well, but when they cut into it, it was rare... Pretty much just seared and not cooked inside at all. We've asked to get it cooked a little more, but at that point, we were all a bit annoyed and lost our appetite. They came back with the steaks, one was cooked better, but the other was still pretty red (closer to medium rare). They've checked on us and asked if the steaks were better, but at that point, we did not want the steak anymore. They've asked us if we wanted another entree, so we got a short rib instead. The vegetables on the side of our entrees were inconsistently cooked (overcooked and mushy or undercooked and hard), and there were onion peels we had to spit out. The only good part of our meal was the appetizers, though I believe it was a bit overpriced for the portion. The entrees had generous portions, but veggies were inedible. Overall, I was so embarrassed to take my family there to celebrate a birthday. They comped one meal and offered a dessert, but we were hesitant and denied the offer. After paying $300+ (including tip), we left a bit disgusted.

Visited the Lodge Pasadena 2x and both times I had a great experience. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't seem very big, but the inside was much larger than expected. There is lots of seating, including an enclosed patio area with fire pits for the winter, which also opens up for the summer. I loved everything about my experience here, including my interactions with the staff and great food/ambiance. During my first visit, our waitress, Reilly was amazing. She offered to give us a menu tour, something we appreciated. She took the time to go over every section of the menu and gave recommendations of her personal favs. We also got to enjoy the live band since it was a Sat. which was nice. For the food, my table had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Mahi Mahi Tacos and the lodge burger. The buffalo chicken pizza was tasty, and not skimpy on the proteins. Oh my my...the lodge burger was amazing. Just beefy and juicy, tasted great and I 1000 % recommend. The Mahi Mahi tacos were okay, not the worst but not the best at the same time. Needed more Mahi Mahi and the slaw was a bit too much making the fish soggy. However, the manager Jon removed the tacos from our bill without us even asking. He came to check on our table and asked for our honest feedback. He was really kind and mindful of our experience. My most recent visit was also great. Our server was attentive and again the food was delicious. I had the braised short ribs, very tender and flavorful. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food. The bar manager (Richard) also checked in with us and gave us two shots of something delicious. All of the staff and managers provided excellent service, I cannot stress this enough. It's hard to find restaurants that care about customer experience and have great food as well. The food is a bit on the pricey side and I can't speak on the negative reviews on Yelp, just that I enjoyed my time here and would recommend. Thank you to all the staff for a memorable experience.

My first time here and I had the best experience. Hailey was an amazing bartender, super attentive, provided recommendations for food and cocktails that were some of her favorites, even shared the specials they have during the week. The food was excellent. The NY strip steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. The duck fat fries are a must as well (recommended by Hailey) they did not disappoint. They also had live music by Madisun complimented the ambiance. Plenty of parking, and clean bathrooms, beautiful aesthetic.

Natara was an excellent server. I recently found out that The Lodge Pasadena is part of the restaurant group that owns Smashing Grapes, Blackwall Hitch and Blackwall Barn & Lodge. I'm glad I came here. Dinner was great, helpful staff.

All in all tonight experience at The Lodge was good. The French onion soup was super hot, which is what I like. The Caesar salad is always a favorite. The prime rib was perfectly medium, rare, though I think a little small for $45. I'm not necessarily a fan of the fried mahi for the fish tacos. But it was still good. The kid like her pasta, which can sometimes be a problem. The raspberry sorbet was really good. But, for the prices (~ $150 tonight for 2 + a kid), you shouldn't charge an extra 3% just for using a credit card, as it is fresh on your mind as you're figuring out tip for the server.

Absolutely stellar display and quality! So far this is the best location for this chain that I have visited. Amanda was a wonderful server, and everyone was so friendly! I cannot wait to come back.

Went for a girls night out and it was a great night. The remodeled building was very nice w the Christmas wintery decorations. Loved the fireplace. The elk had a scarf on. Our server Hunter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He would give his food opinion when we asked and that was helpful. He told us it was happy hour until 6pm. We ordered various craft drinks and food throughout the night. The buffalo chicken pizza flatbread was good. Nothing crazy but a solid choice. I also got a French onion soup that was good. Ended with the berry cobbler. My sister got the apple cinnamon bread pudding which was better than the cobbler. The honey Dijon Brussels sprouts were very good! The glaze on them was lovely and cooked well. A lot of places are too soggy. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely return. It has the upscale feel Pasadena needed with a good price point.

First time trying The Lodge tonight! Unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. We had made a reservation, but still had a little bit of a wait (it happens). Our server took about 15 minutes to greet us and we ordered drinks and food all in one go. Our drinks came and it was a bit weird that they were canned sodas, considering how high end this restaurant seems. It was clear there was a kitchen issue as no one was getting food. Our server seemed to be purposefully avoiding us and turning her head as she walked by so we couldn't flag her down. Other tables were offered bread while they waited. We flagged down a manager and he said he'd get bread and check on our food (he then disappeared for the rest of the evening). Our server was very dismissive when we expressed being disappointed our food took 58 minutes to get to us. My husbands steak was cold to the touch when it arrived. Thankfully, my burger was very good. We asked to speak to someone 2-3 times and were treated like we were bothering our server. She said they took too many reservations and they couldn't handle the volume. It should be noted we were being kind and trying to show we were understanding of things happening we just didn't want to pay almost $40 for a cold uneaten steak. After about 30 minutes a woman walked over identifying herself as a manager asking how things were. We told her our story and she expressed regret and frustrations. Honestly, if she had come talk to us before I think we'd be feeling very differently as we leave. She was awesome and did her best to make things right. I'm sad because I think this place would have been really good, there was just no communication and our server probably shouldn't be in the service industry.

First time visiting the lodge in Pasadena. We had happy hour in the bar area. We ordered the Caprese pizza which was delicious and the brussels sprouts. And then for dessert we had the apple cinnamon bread pudding. Soooo yummy! Service was great. The waitress was very friendly. The only thing I will complain about is we ordered club soda and we were charged $16 on our check. Because apparently they use only canned products for all the drinks. So the club soda doesn't come out of a soda gun. They ended up taking it off the bill but they should've told us ahead of time. I'm not paying $16 for club soda.

02/20/26 5 Stars **…read more Wife and I were in Annapolis for a doctor's appointment, and afterwards she asked, "Where are you taking me for lunch?" I jumped on Yelp and started searching. I had heard about a seafood place in Severna Park, but I wasn't in the mood for seafood. That's when I came across Betty Lou's. As soon as I looked at the food photos, I knew that's where we were headed. It was about a 20 minute ride from Annapolis not bad at all. Betty Lou's is located in a shopping center. There were a few cars in the lot when we pulled up, but I wasn't sure if they were there for the restaurant or other businesses nearby. When we walked in, there was one person sitting at the bar. We asked if we could sit there, and the bartender (don't remember her name) was very pleasant and welcoming. She thanked us for coming in, and when I mentioned I found the place on Yelp, she explained that everything is made fresh to order. They have an excellent selection of craft drinks on the menu, the assortment of cocktails and wines that look very good. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I had the Jimmy Red Old Fashioned. The drink looked fantastic, and she took her time carefully measuring each ingredient. That's how cocktails are supposed to be made balanced and flavorful, not just tasting like straight liquor. If I wanted that, I'd just order bourbon neat. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and roasted potatoes. I had already decided on the chicken pot pie after seeing it online. I did find it a little strange they don't offer mashed potatoes as a side with meatloaf, that would've made it a home run in my opinion. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The pot pie was larger than I expected compared to the pictures, and the meatloaf was a generous portion as well. After the first bite, I can honestly say it was one of the best chicken pot pies I've had loaded with tender chicken, carrots, onions, celery, and a rich, flavorful gravy. And the pastry crust? The BEST I've ever had. It was big enough that I had leftovers for dinner. My wife's meatloaf was tender and flavorful, and the collard greens were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The roasted potatoes were just okay again, mashed would've put it over the top but that's just personal preference. She also had plenty leftovers for dinner. The food was great, the décor was nicely done, and the service was excellent. If this place were closer to home, it would definitely be a regular spot for us. We need something like this down in Calvert County. Overall, if you're looking for a great meal and well-crafted drinks, Betty Lou's is absolutely worth the drive even if you live a little ways away.

She had been there for lunch and was quite impressed with it. We are always looking for new, small business type places to dine, so we certainly were game to try it. It's a normal store front in a strip mall, but upon entering, you are transported to a shabby chic sort of country vibe restaurant. My friend had made a reservation, however on a Wednesday night, I am sure we probably could have walked right in. There is a bar with drinks and the vibe is just really warm and cozy. Our waitress came over with water and specials on the menu. Definitely were not rushed in any way. We ordered a pork belly appetizer which was splendid! Really enjoyed it! Very flavorful and cooked correctly, something that a lot of places we go for pork belly seem to not be able to accomplish. All of us ordered something different. One of the other reasons my friend selected this restaurant is that my husband is a recently diagnosed no gluten kind of guy and Betty Lou's has a number of selections that are gluten free. He selected shrimp and grits, my friend got meatloaf and I had a gluten fried chicken. All of them along with the sides were magnificent! I had to have a to go box and I had the rest for lunch the next day. Hubby cleaned his plate and my friend has a very small appetite these days, so I am sure she is still eating on hers. The pricing for the quality and quantity of food I thought was fair. The ambience was really stellar and we were never rushed out. Our server was fantastic! Desserts sounded fantastic, but there was no room. I am really looking forward to going back down to try some other foods soon! Give this a try....it's a Pasadena gem!

Funny thing is the night they offered that, I had made it for my husband and he had the leftovers for his lunch, so he opted for a salad that night. In the restaurants defense, as someone that makes the dish, it takes some space to marinate the meat for a few days and maybe that's the problem....but honestly I tasted the gravy on her dish and it was great, so I understand her disappointment and maybe Jimmy's needs to reevaluate having that or finding a way to accommodate other diners. So we went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We are always looking for places to eat on the weekends, and there are just not enough breakfast places in the area. We walked in at around 8 and they still weren't real busy. We got a nice booth and were served coffee and our server got our order pretty quick. Johnny's is diner like, so everything is on your table ready to go....and what I really liked is that I didn't have to ask anyone to get a Tabasco sauce for me. It was already on the table! Both my husband and I ordered sausage and swiss omelettes. They both came out cooked done and hot with just the right about of cheese. I know a lot of places we go seem to be skimping on that, but we want to taste it in our bite and we did! Our server refilled our coffee and was very pleasant. There is nothing like the hometown vibe that are in small restaurants and this one is no exception.

My fiancé and I have supported this local spot for years. It used to be a reliable go-to. But over time, something shifted--and now I know exactly what it is: the cook, Laura. On 11/28, I ordered steak and eggs. What I was served was not just unappetizing--it was dangerous. The steak smelled rancid, oozed a grayish liquid, and had visible discoloration. We flagged it immediately. Today, we returned to follow up and were horrified to learn that Laura had been explicitly told not to use those steaks because they were spoiled--and she served them anyway. Let that sink in. Why wasn't the meat discarded? Why did she knowingly serve it? Is she untrained, negligent, or something worse? And more importantly--why is she still employed? This isn't an isolated incident. Months ago, I stopped in for a quick lunch and became violently ill within the hour. I had to pull over to vomit and missed an important business meeting. I suspected something was off then, and from that point on, I would call ahead to make sure Laura wasn't cooking. Recently, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. That was a mistake. There's a level of disregard here that feels personal. When I asked to speak with her after learning about the spoiled meat, the staff refused and smirked like it was a joke. It's not. This could have led to hospitalization--or worse. This is a public health issue. Laura's actions were reckless, and the restaurant's failure to act is inexcusable. I'm mortified, furious, and deeply disappointed. Willy's was once a place I proudly supported. Now, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Until there's accountability, I won't be back--and I urge others to think twice before risking their health here.

But honestly, we thought it became too expensive over the years (maybe I'm just getting old). With that said, I sat at the bar (service was excellent), and ordered the 16 ounce prime rib, $55, with a Caesar salad and sweet potato, and mozzarella cheese sticks to start (~$10). I ordered a tea to drink, but requested a beer (~$8)with the steak. Total bill was ~$80. The prime rib was ordered and delivered medium rare, and was by far one of the best steaks I've had in probably three years. It honestly could've been cut with just the fork, no knife required, and was well seasoned. The sweet potato mash was well seasoned, without being over seasoned. And the Caesar salad was super crisp, and I happen to like creamy Caesar dressing. The mozzarella cheese sticks look like they're hand dipped (not sure) and very good. And delivered with extra marinara per request. The bartender even remembered to pour the Sam's seasonal beer (winter something, it was not the typical winter lager which i like as well) when the steak was delivered. I did not have to ask. That was really nice. Also, I did not have to ask for a refill on the tea, it just magically appeared.
