The bartender never came back one single time. It was busy but it's hard to believe that being busy justifies leaving a customer completely unattended for that long. Wanted to try a Scotch egg so here I am. There are 2 in an order but this isn't indicated on the menu. Rating: meh! Egg bordered on rubbery. Really needs the sauce to make it work. Nothing to write home about. Reuben sandwich was just ok. Not as much meat as other places, but not bad. Fries/chips are made from fresh potatoes and are not crispy. Good size but on the mushy side, like In-n-Out. The surgeon general called and said one sure way to ruin your health is smoking cigarettes. Come on in if you aren't getting your proper ration of the foul incense. The tube was on but honestly, the only entertainment was some cute (apparently) lipstick lesbians playing darts. I arrived at the Londoner on a rainy day to meet some friends before a rained out Oktoberfest. They had been there for some time, so when I arrived they had already eaten. They were still drinking plenty, however. I sat there for 30 mins, and never saw a waitress. She finally arrived, but immediately attended to getting drink refill orders. I was starved, so when she returned I asked if I could order. I did. So did a companion at the table. She took the orders, and away she went. About 20 mins later I saw a confused food runner pass and give the companion food. I noticed that he had a fish and chips (what I ordered) in hand, but dropped everything he had off at another table. Roughly 20 mins later the server returned and didn't notice about my food. I am pretty chill, so I figured I'd forget it and eat later. My friends told her. She then said, "Oh, let me see." She returned and said "I am sorry, someone gave your food to that table over there. There is a dead one in the window, but they are making you a fresh one." I said thank you. When it arrived, it was great. I was taken aback at how much I enjoyed it. Perhaps it was due in part to the fact that I only eat fried food once every few months, however, it was quite great. The fries were crisp with a hint of salt. The batter on the fish was crunchy on the outside, but created a perfect consistency inside. I thought the fish itself had a good flavor, paired with the greatly flavorful crust. At the end, the server dropped off the ticket with a seemingly ashamed "thanks." I've been a few times in the early evening for fish and chips to wait out the evening traffic leaving town. The atmosphere is like a large, well "worn" pub with generally good waitstaff. There are large chairs with coffee tables on either side of a central fireplace that's nice during the cooler months. This place really let us down. I was expecting great British pub food and was given bland old British food. There is a resurgence of British food that is supposed to be more flavorful than "old school" bland British food and that was what I was hopping for here. My wife had the fish and chips. The fish and chips were both very soggy and not crispy as they should be. They didn't give us any malt vinegar in out to go order so that was missing. The only good thing about her plate was the tartar sauce that came with it. I had the bangers and mash. It was ok, the gravy was very bland and I had to add salt and pepper to give it some flavor. Also here is the description of this dish from the web site: "Traditional English sausage, served with mashed potatoes with a Yorkshire pudding, smothered in rich onion gravy." As you can see from my pictures, there was no Yorkshire pudding, which was what I was really looking forward to with this dish. We also had the scotch eggs as an appetizer. They were ok but very dry. I tried the curry chicken. I asked for between medium and "burn your bum" hot. Very generous portion! Awesome curry flavor. The heat component tasted familiar, tasted like sririacha sauce. I asked for some more hot sauce and the waitress brought out the bottle. Yep, green top, rooster on the side, made in California, sriracha sauce. This reminded me of an Irish pub I went to in Metz France several years ago. It's a very dark interior with a variety of seating atmospheres. There are cozy spots, areas for larger groups, bar seating, high-tops, and an area for darts and pool. There was also an outdoor patio seating option but it was too cold when I went for anybody to be out there. The service is friendly and the menu looked interesting. They had a large beer selection and I went with a local brew as is my habit when on the road. I like to get a sample of a local dark ale/stout. I had an "Oak Highlands Jack Daniel's Barrel Chump Change Beer". The name had me curious and this one did not disappoint. I ordered the fish and chips for dinner. I had just been in London, England the week before and so I wanted to get a fresh comparison. I preferred the one in London but this was still good. The fish was tasty but rather small pieces so that the meat to batter ratio was shifted too far to the batter side. The fries were good. I'd go back but would try a different dish. read more

The Londoner is the bar scene without the aggression and darkness. Enjoyed a few mixed drinks and beers with friends on a late Saturday night. The decor is wood but well lit and includes big screen TVs. There are very interesting eclectic beer mugs hanging from the ceiling rafters that entertained my imagination. The rating of a 3 is because they ran out of some ingredients on a few of the mixed drinks and it was 11pm, so I feel like that was an early hour to not have ingredients. Good beer, friendly staff. lots of soccer on TVs and very pub-like interior. Beer selection was good, and I had Paulaner which was $6 for a 22oz glass. I had to have pub-like meal as well so I was debating between the Fish and Chips or the Bangers &Mash. Opted for Bangers & Mash and was positively surprised. Holli (waitress) had good suggestions which turned out to be correct. Part of the establishment is smoke free and the other is not, which is why I took one star out.
