They're probably best known for the comprehensive library of zines (mini, self-published books) called the Anchor Archive, for which a catalogue was set up last year by a library sciences graduate student as his thesis project. They are still working on getting all editions into the catalogue, though, and need volunteers to assist. Also sharing this space is the Ink Storm Screenprinting Collective. If you're interested in learning to screen print you can attend cheap-cheap introductory lessons on a sliding scale ($20-40). Then go use the space for your own projects, or pay for another affordable three-part class to learn more details. Watch their website for announcements about cool things like the Free Shop that's set up right now in their shed, where you can go take or donate items at your leisure. Or just drop in on their open hours, and meet some new folks.

This less conventional life drawing class is a brand that reaches over 100 cities world wide, and with great success in spots like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, the Sketchy name makes its way out East for a little anti-art school entertainment. Burlesque and alternative themes make this a fun way to go out and let the creative pen flow. The event takes place monthly, and is not necessarily tied to one venue. So far in Halifax, Coconut Grove has been it, and how lovely is a nice glass of pinot gris alongside sultry tunes of the 1940s and beautiful belles for the draw. Models and themes switch up every time, and its all a great atmosphere. Whether you are a pro sketcher or just someone wanting to give it a try, its all low pressure and about keeping things friendly. The first model was the Miss C, owner of the amazing Pretty Things Boutique. With a series of different sketches and posings, she cracked up the crowd with cheeky comments and great attitude. This is a fantastic addition to Halifax's creative community, and a great time for those looking for a little less rigid. 3 1/2 hours of life-drawing, free swag, laughs and tunes to take you to another era? Handy to Burnside and Highfield, plenty of free parking shares a plaza with great restaurants. Good deals on a pitcher & pool and plenty of elbow room for office groups. Music's not too loud, Lighting not too dim; ;but man the front door is hard to find, they should paint the trim red or something! And what's with the doorbell?

I've heard there's glass on the floor everywhere you step; almost like those movies. So my fellow yelpies, I boldly walked into the legend of the Dome... with a group of friends. The Dome is a maze. FACT: when I first entered, I won't lie, I was saying: PFFFFFT, confusing? ya right! But you know... the more you walk around.... hey! let's grab a drink.... more walking.... cheers? let's get a beer.... let's see what's over there.... SHOTS!...... you've GOT to see this....WHERE THE HECK ARE WE?! It's great that if you purchase your cover charge you get access to all three places, but maybe they should make it less confusing. Certain Human Parts Are Exposed MYTH: I didn't see any! Glass everywhere. FACT: I thought out of EVERYTHING, this was gonna be the biggest lie ever. No sir Bob. It's not uncommon to have people drop bottles and not have any of the staff clean the up. Wear protective shoes yelpies!! But I soon realized... that the DJ literally has 10 songs on his playlist. That's it. And they are on constant repeat. So you hear the same song at least 10 times during your stay here. My friends and I found a secluded bar section where no one was buying drinks. The woman said that our total for 3 drinks was 10.50 which is a great deal! So we forked over a 20 and she gave us back 15 in change. Great for us... not so great for the owners!

Staff member, Elisa Dalpe insulted my little brother who passed by saying "I'm glad your brother…read moredied, you deserve it" because I didn't want a relationship with her. Absolutely outlandish and unacceptable. I will not be re-visiting the dome as long as she is under staff.
