Desserts are a breather from an always crowded mall like SM Megamall, so we sneaked a quick treat at The Lost Bread.
Their outlet at the Mega Fashion Hall echoes the bright-colored interiors of The Lost Bread HQ on Maginhawa Street. You could easily just walk in and order at the counter with the menu booklets and spread displayed. Seats of up to around 25 people are in store and about 12 at the hallway side, but you may want to reserve via a booking app to settle in without the hassle because tables are nearly always occupied.
The counter crew member was all welcoming, courteous, and ready to answer our questions about their dishes. We were there with a reservation. Wait time is around 5-10 minutes, and a service charge of 10% may apply on the main course menu as the table service crew serves your food to you when dining in. Otherwise, takeaway orders are called to the counter for claiming.
We had the Sub-Zero Soft Serve Cup, their signature smoking cold, blue vanilla ice cream on a bed of crushed Graham crackers. There are four flavours, and we tried the Chocolate Popcorn with the chocolate syrup in a syringe. It looked medically altered, but that's what makes it exquisite among other dessert stores.
The soft serve tasted really blue, though, the vanilla being equally trying to stand its color. The crushed Graham crackers beneath the soft serve was the real treat and it came out a surprise, but we'd wish there were some fruitful flavour to the entire serving. So next time, we'd try the Strawberry Fruit Cereals flavour.
It was a good dining experience, though we expected more seats to be available as people were really curious to come in and try their dishes that look appealing and Instagrammable. read more
